All my "American Idol" fans rejoice.

The ball is about to get rolling on season six and I've got all the details. If you are a new reader of all my musings here on Access Hollywood's Web site' you may not know that I am the official "American Idol" insider for our show. I've covered all five seasons of the show and also worked with Ryan Seacrest on his now cancelled talk show. While working on that show I spent every Tuesday and Wednesday night backstage at the show seeing all the shenanigans that go on. I also attend the show tapings pretty much every week. So, I get to see what goes on inside the house when the show is live.

Enough about me! Here's the scoop on the "American Idol" auditions hot off the presses. Auditions begin right here in Los Angeles on August 8th at The Forum. You must be between the ages of 16 and 28 and be able to work in the United States. According to Fox, you must also be a male or female. So, I guess that means animals, bugs and hermaphrodites are not allowed to audition'

Auditions continue in the following cities:

San Antonio, TX -- Friday, Aug. 11 at the Alamodome
East Rutherford, NJ -- Monday, Aug. 14 at the Continental Airlines Arena
Birmingham, AL -- Monday, Aug. 21 at the BJCC
Memphis, TN -- Sunday, Sept. 3 at the FedExForum
Minneapolis, MN -- Friday, Sept. 8 at the Target Center
Seattle, WA -- Tuesday, Sept. 19 at the Key Arena

Is it just me, or does it seem like they always visit the same areas of the country every single year' What about all those people in Iowa or South Dakota' How about the folks in Kansas' I'm sure the folks in Montana and Wyoming have some talent. What about the kids in Maine and Vermont' Surely they have a few talented singers. Sorry, if I didn't mention your forgotten state here but I think the American public deserves to have a little more variety in the audition cities. Maybe this would break up some of those southern states' power voting rings!

Warm up those vocal cords and good luck to anyone planning to audition. I would love to hear from you so e-mail me at salt.dish@nbcuni.comand let me know about your experience at the auditions.
