A 'Heroes' Homecoming
by guest blogger Bryant Huddleston
When I got an early copy of tonight's "Heroes" episode perfectly titled "Homecoming," I literally got goose bumps, after all this is THE episode where Peter finally does his best to "Save the Cheerleader."
I had been on set while they shot portions of the episode. The picture here with me kneeling shows just how happy I was to be alongside the spunky seventeen-year-old star Hayden Panettiere. Surpisingly open...she's gonna be huge. Now back to the episode. I was thrilled to get a copy of it. After having a few not so great weeks, I needed some good news. This fanboy wasn't disappointed. If you don't want to hear anything about Claire and Peter's long awaited meeting then just go on to read more about Tom & Katie's over hyped wedding. But if you're curious, I'll be more than happy to give you a tease or two.
The "Homecoming" obviously isn't going to be pretty. Ok, it's a freakin' blood bath. Tomorrow on "Access" we'll show you how they did it. Note: Lots and lots of fake blood and and a extra pair of legs. That's all I'm saying.
As Claire and Peter collide, Mohinder continues his desperate search for truth. The poor boy for weeks has believed his father didn't love him, that he kept his greatest work from him. Tonight, he gets closer to finding out what exactly his father was hiding from him. The moment he discovers the truth reminded me just how far this show can go. There are so many stories to tell. So many heroes to meet.
Now a few weeks ago when I visited the set I found out that someone close to Claire would meet a grizzly end. It's a death that makes sense and will ultimately (and hopefully) save the world. Now on that same visit to the Hollywood soundstage I ran into Sylar, well the actor who plays him. Tonight, he finally comes out of the darkness with a bizarre twist. Hint: the Haitian returns.
After watching the show, I once again thought what a nice surprise this show has become. Unlike anything else on television it's proven that you can answer big questions that the audience wants answers to and still not affect the show. Just because you have a big "reveal" doesn't mean you jump the shark. It's the way TV should be today. Audiences have so many other entertainment outlets. Movies, cable, internet, etc. Tonight we get answers. This show respects their audience. They know we are the reason for it's surprising freshman year success.
Now In "Heroes" casting news Jessalyn Gilsig has joined the show for a multi-episode arc. If you watch "Nip/Tuck" then you'll recognize her as the amazingly crazy Geena. So she's already a "Hero" in my book.
