Borat, Orlando & The Olsens: The Pre-Golden Globe Report
Once again, the annual HBO pre-Golden Globe party, held on January 13, at the Chateau Marmont, brought out the stars. And among those spotted was the elusive Sascha Baron "Borat" Cohen, along with his fiancee Isla Fisher.
Cohen repeatedly asked fans and photographers hired by HBO not to take any pictures of him. In fact, when one house photographer snapped a shot of him, Cohen darted over to the offending lensman and told him to immediately delete the digital shot. The photog said he told Cohen, "Yeah, right" and kept the photo anyway. Nor did Cohen care to speak "Kazakh" when yours truly spoke to him in a fluent version of his "Kazakh," which is actually Hebrew.
In fact, Cohen basically spoke very little with the other attendees. However, he was pretty chatty with Chris Rock, who he b-lined for. Cohen told Rock he was getting married and asked, "Any advice?" Rock suggested, "Have a baby right away."
Other stars mingling in the hotel's lobby and outside under a tent were Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Hugh Laurie, Anna Paquin, Dennis Quaid, Chris Rock, Entourage Executive Producer Mark Wahlberg and stars Jerry Ferrara and Kevin Dillon, Helen Mirren, Bill Maher, Aidan Quinn, Forest Whitaker, Chris Klein, Rose McGowan, Jeremy Irons, Robbie Williams, Marisa Tomei, Michelle Trachtenberg, Terence Howard, Gina Gershon, Cuba Gooding, Jr., and Natasha Lyonne, who looked healthy and happy.
Meanwhile that same night, Orlando Bloom celebrated his 30th birthday at the Hollywood club Teddy's with Leonardo DiCaprio and Penelope Cruz, who was the guest of honor earlier that evening at a Los Angeles Confidential magazine party at the W Hotel in Westwood.
