The Sweet Sound Of 'Grease'

Yesterday I went to Levels Audio, a state of the art voice over facility in Hollywood that allowed me to watch the relevant video while I put voiceovers on top of it. This was for episode 2 of 'Grease: You're The One That I Want', which airs this Sunday at 8pm EST and PST on NBC.

The ironic and slightly incestuous thing about this place was my main competition was doing the same thing in the studio next door. I could hear the voice of Ty Pennington blasting through the sound proof walls. And, as I was leaving, Ryan Seacrest was coming in to do the same for American Idol.

The sound guy told me he had never enjoyed a show as much as ours while we were working on it. Several times he'd get sucked into watching it so that he'd forget to hit record on my microphone.

I was happy about that.

'Grease' only gets better. After Episode 2, the show goes to Grease Academy (#3) where it truly begins to look and feel like something you've never seen. And Episode 4, on January 28th, is the first of the Live shows....then, I'm sure of it, America will be swept off their feet as the song and dance production numbers get going.

The ratings are great and the advance ticket sales for the Broadway production, which starts in July, were through the roof on Monday. 1.3 million dollars in tickets were sold. Grease is going to be a great ride for everyone.

Now, tomorrow morning I have my first yoga class. I am the most unlimber man in the world, so it's time to mellow out and loosen up. The producers of Grease have threatened me with having to partake in a number at some point in the show's run... If they're serious, perhaps I'll be ready.

Final thought on the Donald's latest move, his open letter to Rosie (via the media)- he has perceived a hole he can exploit. The New York Post wrote today of the rift between Rosie and Barbara. Donald wants to put a match to that so it becomes apparent to people that Rosie fights with everyone. Will it work? I know this, he won't back down.

Donald has dealt with union bosses and heavyweights in the construction business for years. He's been called everything and has been threatened in many different ways. Rosie O'Donnell, to him, is sport.

So long as she wants to play, he'll go at it like gangbusters. He called Barbara Walters a 'liar', insisting that she told him many negative things about Rosie. If Barbara did, she surely never expected he'd betray her confidence and use her words to incite Rosie. That's a shocking oversight. Only Donald and Barbara know the truth, but one thing we all know: Donald will hold back nothing.

Love the show "Grease" You're the One that I want! I just don't understand why NBC isn't promoting this program on their morning shows, late night shows, etc. The final 12 are all excellent performers and deserve much more publicity than the Americal Idol contestants. Why haven't they been showcased on, let's say, "Entertainment Tonight"?
After all, that is an NBC show. What gives?
