So Long Sligh!
![]()
If Chris Sligh had his way, he would have been out of the AMERICAN IDOL competition already. Seems the curly haired one was ready to go long before last night. Speaking to reporters this morning, Chris revealed he attempted to drop out of the competition during Top 12 week, "When I was universally trashed for my arrangement of 'Endless Love,' I kind of thought this isn’t the competition for me." Chris went to 19 Entertainment to ask, if he left could he still take part in the Idol tour. The answer was a resounding no. He would need to be voted out.
What I like about Chris is that he clearly takes issue with some of the practices of Idol. He says he has three wishes for changes he would like to see. Number one is that they would let the Idols who are songwriters sing their songs on the show, "I worked really hard to do one of my originals during the semi-finals, it didn't work out." According to him, the Executive Producers, Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick believed that America just wasn't ready for it.
Number two is that the Idols be allowed to play musical instruments, which both Taylor Hicks and Chris Daughtry had hoped to do as well. Number three is that he wishes the Idols would be allowed to keep their personal blogs up so fans could read about what goes on for them day-by-day. Chris said he was been warned their are certain things he cannot talk about but he will return to blogging now.
Chris will return to his band, Half Past Forever, and also revealed that a major industry player tried to get him to drop out of the show, promising he would get the band signed to a record deal during the audition process.
He also plans to take a much needed vacation with his wife and continue his weight loss, "I think that when I get back to the finale I'm hoping that everyone will be surprised that its the same Chris Sligh."
Tonight, Chris hooks up with Little Richard for a skit on "The Tonight Show." I'll be backstage with him and have the low down from that and my one-on-one with him on Friday.

Chris Sligh's album is now #23 on Amazon.com's music charts. Not bad.
Ms. Saltman I can almost picture you writing all your comments very interesting to read.
Yea Chris, I was sad when you were voted off AI. I agree there should be changes made on the show lik voting for real talent and not legs and hair. Keep on singing I love your voice.
Wasn't the song that Bo Bice sang acappella an original?
