Will Akon Give 'Idol' A 'Smack' Down?

Question… I wonder if the producers of squeaky-clean “American Idol” actually listened to Akon’s lyrics before agreeing to let him appear as a backup singer with Gwen Stefani on Wednesday night’s show.

Although Akon will no doubt sanitize his act for the show, when the kids in the audience ask mommy and daddy to buy his album, they are in for a reckoning.

For example: In his biggest hit “Smack That” Akon sings about how he has to “hold my w---- back through my drawers.” Not to mention how he wants to “bend you over” and “smack that, 'till you get sore.” When parents hear these lyrics, you can expect a backlash similar to the Ludacris/Pepsi debacle of '02.

“American Idol” like Pepsi is a brand. And one of it’s biggest sponsors is Pepsi’s rival Coke. You’d think Coke would have learned from their competitor’s mistakes.

I can’t wait to hear little Jimmy and Susie singing “Smack That” on the school bus while drinking a Sprite (Coca-Cola company product)…
