More On Simon's Reaction
More and more information is coming from the Idol folks about the eye rolled 'round the world last night by Simon Cowell. Notably, Idol producer Ken Warwick said in a conference call with the press that Simon viewed the tape of the incident after the show and was equally horrified.
Like I said before, I think what Simon did is understandable because it happened in a moment.
Had Simon had a few extra seconds to fully understand what Chris had changed the topic TO....I think he would have let it go.
Simon Cowell is a good guy and a great player on TV. He reacted the same way many did in the privacy of their homes.... I'm still not buying the excuse about reacting to something Paula said.
He may be the 'mean' judge, but he does come off as a good guy in interviews.
Simon was being his cynical self believing that Chris tried to dodge more criticism by bringing up the Virginia Tech tragedy. Chris may have been sincere, but his timing was definitely akward. I don't think that Simon meant to be disrespectful. The eye roll was aimed at Chris, not the victims.
You can bet Simon will stay around to give out his curt remarks and talk down to the normal public
People watching need to remember that they aren't actually there in the studio hearing everything and all the commotion and shouting from the audience (that probably explains the difference in opinion of what the audience and TV viewers hear and what the judges hear!). I think Simon was rolling his eyes about the "nasal" singing remarks by Chris and didn't hear the comment about Virginia Tech. We need to just relax..it was only an eyeroll! I hear and see worse things in my daily life!
I want to comment on the Virginia Tech shooting and thwe video tape. My nice attended there 6 years ago. Although this tragety should have never happend and whether there are warning signs or not noone really knows unless roommates and others start asking questions of the pwerson we'll never know. About releasing the video, I feel for everyone at the school and every parent. I cannot imagine a tragety of loosing a child. However if we are going to be so sensative as to not show news ( the good or the bad) we will never be strong as a nation. We were outraged when Imus said things yet when professional athletes screw up over and over again or celeberties acted up we write it off. That has to stop. Once we make examples out of celebraties we will finally understand each other.
All you bloggers here at AH owe an apology to Simon Cowell; Your attacks on him for his eyeroll were proven on Wednesday's results show to be unfounded. Yet, as of now, not one of you has had the guts to get back up on your soapbox and admit you were wrong.
