Buddy's Blog: Larry's Homecoming Dinner

"Hey Larry, would you take the garbage out?"

Welcome home, Larry Birkhead. Judy Birkhead's request to her brother (or was it an order?) signaled a much neededreturn to normalcy for a man who has spent the past 6 months telling the world he was, indeed, the father of Anna Nicole Smith's baby, and three months battling in the Bahamian courts to take her home.

The legal wrangling, the relentless media pursuit, it was, at least for now, all behind him. Larry, physically and emotionally drained, was happy to be surrounded by the people he loved, surrounded by people overjoyed to have the newest Birkhead family member home. Dannielynnn sat contentedly on her father's lap as the Birkhead clan - sister, brother, parents, niece and nephews - gathered in a family room, chatting about the events of the past, the challenges that lay ahead and the love and support they have for each other.

Most of the talk was upbeat, happy. This was no time for negativity.

Dinner was incredibly routine. A big pot of spaghetti on one burner, meat sauce on the other, hot bread and a bowl of salad on the center island. It was a strictly help yourself affair. Everyone picking up his or her own plate, digging in, then finding a seat wherever most comfortable. Conversation was, again, casual. No whispering, no secrets to spill, just plain ordinary dinner talk.

After his meal, Larry sprawled out on the sun room couch. He speculated a bit on the future, on what life would be like with Dannielynn in the coming months. He didn't, dwell on that too long. Clearly, he was exhausted but tonight he knew he would finally sleep and sleep well.

It was good to be home.

Buddy Singer has covered Anna Nicole Smith's death and Larry Birkhead's court battles since early February for Access Hollywood.

I hope he's a good dad. It sounds like he has alot of good family around to help but sometimes it looks like Larrys kisses to Dannielynn are for the camera not her. I hope he stays were he has love and support around!!!

And a thousand miles away Howard sits in an empty house. No Anna, no Daniel, no Dannielynn, no bodyguards or nannies, family or spaghetti dinner. Just immense loss, grief and quiet. If you have one grain of compassion, you can't help but think of him and hope that he will be okay.

Now that Larry is back in the U.S. with his baby, he shouldn't have to go back to the Bahamas. The Bahamian court should not decide the custody of an American dad and an American baby. I think it is terrible that the judges didn't give Larry their blessings and tell him to not bother going back. They've already decided that Larry should have sole custody of Dannielynn. They as much as said so and were very annoyed with Vergie Arthur. The judges said this custody will most likely be settled in an American court, so why are they saying he has to go back? I think this should be the end of it. Dannielynn is where she belongs. Larry and baby should now be able to begin to try to live normal lives, if that is possible after all the obstacles and hoops that Larry has had to jump through, first for Howard Stern and then Vergie Arthur, and now the Bahamian courts? Enough is enough! I am a law abiding person, but in this case, If I were Larry, I wouldn't go back. He should have his attorney get in touch with the Bahamian court and work something out. For once, things should go smoothly for Larry and Dannielynn. The Florida court would not deal with something that rightfully belonged in the Bahamian courts. The Bahamian courts should have the same respect for our judicial system. After all, much of their income comes from the United States. I expected better from them. I've traveled to that lovely Island country many times, I may not go again if they don't do the right thing for Larry and Dannielynn.

Welcome home Dad and Baby. The photo of the baby and your nephew is priceless. Get some well deserved rest and stay away from unholesome people. Sterns image and reputation is not good to be associated with.

I can only imagine how tired Larry must be after such a long fight for his child. I admire how he hung in there. The next few months will be very different for both he and Dannielynn. Our thoughts and prayers are with both of them.

I am not going to feel sorry for Larry in regards to his ordeal these past months; clearly he takes it as nothing-he is now busom buddies with the main perpetrator of delays, separation, duffel bags etc. Frankly it makes me sick to the stomach! Tony Potts need to ask Larry the hard questions... WHY? Was a deal or deals made? Does HKS have secrets for him - things on tape? No normal person would have the relsp with HKS that Larry now has; something is not right. BTW why didn't the family meet in their own home - it's a bit artificial meeting in someone else's house. No matter what my brother/sister's house look like I would have the family meet here.

I too am very happy for Larry Birkhead and his baby daughter but I feel deeply saddened for poor Howard. He did what the entire world predicted he wouldn't do, he did the right thing. I hope Larry includes Howard in Dannilynn's life as he certainly deserves to be.

Deborah said:

I'm happy for Dannielynn but I am really sad for Howard. How many men in the world thought that someone was their baby and it turned out they weren't. It would be devestating to think that someone had your baby and it turned out you were not the Father. And also you couldn't talk to the Mother for some kind of explanation. Alot of people said Howard should have known but I think he loved Anna so much that he was hoping of all hopes that Dannielynn was his. Now maybe Howard can get the peace he deserves. No human deserves to be treated the way he has been treated in the news media. Howard may you have peace and joy for the rest of your life. Dannielynn may you have peace and joy and hopefully your Daddy (Larry) will quit plastering your picture all over the world. She needs peace and quiet now, not mayhem...

Why doesn't Larry Birkhead file a motion in the Bahamian Court stating that the process in the Bahamas is now moot as all the parties are US Citizens, are domiciled in the United States and that the Bahamian court can no longer claim jurisdiction over the guardianship of Daniellynn particularly that Virgie, the maternal grandmother, has stated On The Rcord with Greta Von Susteren, that she does not want to raise Daniellynn, she only wants control of the child's funds. I am certain that Bahamas does not have any law or precedent relating to a grandmother requesting guardianship of a grandchild's funds only, on the grounds that the father is too young to handle his daughter's money in the future. She talks about Daniellyn making a decision to purchase a Porsche at the age of 14 !!! Larry will then be 48 years of age, and Daniellynn will be too young to have a driver's license. In fact Larry Birkhead should sue Virgie Arthur in the US for launching a frivolous lawsuit over the guardianship of Danniellynn's funds, because at present the only funds Danniellynn may have access to are in Trusts created and administered for her by her father and perhaps Howard Stern. The Californian Probate Court has as yet not probated Anna Nicole's Will, therefore at this moment in time Danniellyn is disinherited in terms of her mother's Will. Virgie is petitioning the Court on a forward looking assumption which has no basis in fact whatsoever.

I have really enjoyed the updates every night and wish Larry and Dannielynn all the best. I really hope Larry won't shut Howard out of their lives because he has suffered too much already.

It is so good to see Larry and his baby girl home with the family. Dannielynn is beautiful just like her Dad. Everybody talks about the money and I think Larry should take whatever he's offered he not only deserves it but will need it to protect himself and Dannielynn. I have all the confidence in the world he will be the best Dad ever.Virgie should never ever see that child. she is only trouble. If money wasn't an issue in this case Virgie would be long gone never to be seen that's all it's about for her.

God bless you and Dannielynn.
Please take a longtime in deciding how you want to raise your daughter. I hope you don't want what happened to her mom and her lifestyle.
Put God first and everything will work out.
Danni and her dad are too precious to mess up!

All the best to Larry and Danielynn. She deserves to be in a big happy family like the Birkheads. She will be surrounded by love and lots of uncles and aunts and cousins. I think that she will fair better then being wholed up in the Bahamas.

I feel sorry for HKS because he is all by himself now. I can have compassion for him in that regards. However I think he did bring alot of things on himself together with Anna and I believe that he did in fact know that he was not the father and that Larry was so in that regards he should be ashamed of himself and perhaps his lonely days of solitude should be spent reflecting on his mistakes and if he has not done so he should apologize to Larry and then to Dannielynn when she is older as for sure she will read all about this when she is a teenager. His constantly stating he did what Anna wanted is so immature.

I think that people should back off of Larry and let Larry be the best father he can without having his mistakes advertised (every parent makes mistakes) Larry should never have been villanized by anyone as he was only fighting for his rights-the rights that he has as the legitimate father of his baby girl.

I hope that Larry will eventually come out and tell all regarding the events surrounding the paternity matter. I would imagine that one of the areas that HKS may have been negotiating with Larry in exchange for doing the DNA test was the fact that Howard wants Larry to be silent about what went on behind closed doors. I hope that Larry did not agree to this and that he will tell all when the time is right and after he has had a chance to bond even further and make up for lost time with his beautiful little girl.

I have read on here people feeling sorry for Mr. Stern. I can't not understand that reasoning. This Man Mr. Stern enabled drugs to the baby Mother when she was pregnant, he continued to enable drugs after the baby was born to knock her out , quotes from Dr. E., Mr. Stern may have allowed harm to come to this child. Only her development will tell what the effects of the drugs will have on her that she received in Utero. I would not allow this man Mr. Stern near my child. Mr. Stern needs emotional help, an unstable person should not be allowed to be with a baby. I feel if Mr. Sterns family really loves him they would insist on therapy for him. I know he has displayed behavior in the past with Anna that has proved by her death that he was a danger to others by enabling the drugs in their enviorment. I would consider Larry to have poor judgement if he allows Mr. Stern in the babies life. If Mr. Stern gets emotional help, perhaps I would reconsider, but he would need supervision, at all times. God has blessed Larry with his babies gift. He needs to protect her from bad influences and poor judgement. Drugs are not a way of life, Drugs will help you end a life, Soneone wrote if you want to get rid of a drug addict just give them their drugs.

Who cares about Howard? He should never be allowed near that baby for the rest of his life. He damn well knew that child was not his all along. I hpoe he finds peace in a 9 X 9 cell. Bring on the inquest; I just hope LB does not keep up this charade of defending Stern! What's the deal LB? What deal was struck between you and former nemesis now best friend? You have lost all credibility w/me and many others, LB. I hope you never see a dime of the Marshall money!

What about what Anna wanted?
Larry's comment splashed across the front of a magazine
I think A N would be happy for us...
I think poor Anna Nicole would be turning over in her grave. None of us knows the reason HKS was on DanniLynn's birth certificate, but we do know her mother put that name there. I believe her wishes should have been considered first and foremost. And the fact Dannilynn's picture is displayed on the news every night, for the world to see speaks volumes. Anna Nicole knew as much as she craved the attention, it was a toxic
relationship. Putting her baby out there day after day, is an insult to Anna's memory.

I also agree with the post that said Larry's kisses and attention seem aimed at the press, not the baby.
