'Lost' & Found: Storming 'The Brig'
by Keith Freshwater, Access production assistant
Last week I said I wanted the opportunity to say, "I told you so." Be careful what you wish for, I guess, 'cause after spoiling so much, I don't really feel like being so smug. Apparently my predictions were a little too on, according to coworkers. So I'm going to reign in the spoiler info. Expect no invisotext, dialogue, or otherwise overt clues.
Tonight's episode, "The Brig," allegedly will give the answer to a question raised all the way back in Season One. I won't dare say which question other than to say I believe two of the 815 survivors will finally learn they are connected...the only hint I'll give is that it involves this letter (pictured above).
It's a prediction I called a full two seasons ago after episode 1.19, "Deus Ex Machina" . If I'm not mistaken, this will be the first time any of the survivors will learn they're connected.
This will be a huge revelation, getting right down to the heart of the tied characters' pathos. You'd think this kind of thing would come up earlier, if everyone weren't so secretive, even the more banal connections.
Locke could have been scouting with Hurley:
Hurley: What'd you do back in the real world, dude?
Locke: Worked in a box factory in Tustin.
Hurley: Hey, I owned a box factory in Tustin. Whoa.
Seems plausible, right? Never happened. It's my hope this will open up a much-needed sit-down with the Losties and they'll finally play a game of Six Degrees of Each Other.
The web has been buzzing with the news that this will be a flashback-free episode, supposedly the first ever. This seems to be slightly inaccurate. We'll get flashbacks, but recent ones, not unlike "The Other 48 Days," where we learned what the Tailies had been up to. ABC's website claims this is a Locke-centric episode, and my source tells me that this picks up where "The Man From Tallahassee" left off, so we'll be seeing what happened to Locke while Sun was being examined by Juliet.
Expect the following questions to be answered tonight:
The aforementioned connection.
What is The Parachutist's mission?
Where did The Others go when they gassed the complex?
How did Anthony Cooper get to the island?
Next week's episode will be Ben-centric, who was apparently born on the island. Should be amazing. See you then.
