Settling In At Cannes
by Ariana Squar, Access staffer
Well folks, as promised we got our taste of blueberry pie when Norah Jones showed up in our lounge for an interview and we got the pics as she promoted her upcoming feature.
Meanwhile, our space on La Crosiette ROCKS. We're the premiere and only entertainment news resource in the space and the American Pavilion is thrilled to have us with them. While I was making the rounds inside, I had the opportunity to sit down and chat with Director/Producer Halfdan Hussey and his partner Nickie Zepeda of Cinequest. For those of you who don't know, part of the purpose of Cannes is not just to screen films, but also for marketers to seek out new films to distribute...and that's where Cinequest comes in.
Self-described as, "mavericks who empower the marriage of filmmakers with the technology of silicon valley", Halfdan and Nickey are seeking content that's edgy, original and from true risk takers. Check out some of what they are already up to at www.cinequest.org.
Next up....my sighting of the day---here's your three hints. La belle femme, chic, est tres magnifique. Any guesses? The answer: Catherine Deneuve. Unfortunately with so much paparazzi surrounding her to promote her picture Après Lui a picture was impossible, but the spotting was cool. Which led me to the hunt for tickets.
On my movie ticket hunt, I found out that once the marketers see the first features it's easier to get tickets to the features you'd like to see. So far I have tickets for "Après Lui," "Nanny Insanity" and "Fashion Victim" --- more updates on that later.
I wrapped my day with Billy, Maria, and crew back at the Pavilion shooting the show. Maria looked awesome in her hot pink mini and Chanel jewelry, while Billy wore a linen "great Gatsby vibe" with light weight earth tones and a pastel dress shirt sans socks. Here's another Cannes tips---nobody walks around without a blackberry or sunglasses. I brought one, and check out our pic together...Maria loaned me the other!
Until later.

I saw Nanny Insanity at a special screening - thought it was quirky and fun. Hope this little film gets discovered.
