The Long Road To Cannes

So the road today was a long and hard haul because I wound up delayed at Charles de Gaulle International Airport for 5 hours. Yep, you read it right, 5 WHOLE BORING HOURS.

What a nightmare. I overheard many industry folks at the CDG airport complaining about exactly the same.

However, once I finally got over the time it took to get here and the international challenges of dealing with the airport I must admit it was well worth the trip and I haven't seen anything like these outdoor vistas before.

It's like a beach with a pulse, not laid back, no surfer bums and I haven't even been to the thick of the action yet.

On the way in from Nice to Cannes I had a great conversation with a native driver and we were discussing how famous director Stephen Frears was presiding over this year's festival. I mean hello...'Dangerous Liaisons,' 'High Fidelity,' 'The Queen'...need I say more?

I've now moved away from my previous polling of celebrity sightings and inserting my own hopes of hearing Mr. Frears speak because as a true film buff, I'm not sure it could get any better than watching a diverse risk taking filmmaker weigh in on the jury. Longue vie au cinema!
