Isaiah vs. Paris
It has struck me that due to conduct, some big media companies have let go of some high profile people. Don Imus was released. Isaiah Washington was dropped. Mel Gibson had a deal for a TV series event pulled.
This all happened because the actions of these people did not match the principles and mission of the parent companies.
Some companies that have dismissed certain people for one reason have protected others for other reasons. At no point in all of the Paris Hilton drama have her actions endangered her job, as far as I can tell, on her TV show. It just launched a new season. This attention is marketing and promotion you can't buy I guess.
Is it naive to state that it seems to be mostly about commerce?
Probably, but its interesting.
That said, the one person who has shown true sorrow for their missteps, in my opinion, is Isiah Washington. He has filmed PSA's for GLAAD and publicly apologized, sought treatment and counseling to authenticate it, and he was axed today.
He let out a statement that said he was 'mad as hell' and that he 'wasn't going to take it'....
I can understand that.
Don't feel sorry for Mr. Washington. From all the reports it isn't his T.R Knight blunder that got him fired. Don't focus on one event. Look at the big picture. Repeated reports of riffs with other cast members and reports of being a male diva have surfaced. (How true the reports are is unknown) I am more likely to believe the reports as Access has even asked other cast members how things on the set are. A blind/deaf person could tell things are not happy. The stars never came out and said great or much better. No it was a work in progress they gave very balnd answers. That says alot to me when his cast members couldn't support him in his 'forgive me' campaign. Add all that up and well, he was long over due to be canned. I don;t care how many PSA he makes. Doesn't excuse bad behavior in general. Hopefully the cast will be happier with what was causing the tension on set gone.
I am very happy that Isiah Washington was fired...I find that word very offensive!! He should have been fired in January. You all know that if this was the other way around and TR said the N-word he would have been fired on the spot.
He should not of been fired!!
I do not think he should have been fired. His character on Greys' made an amazing contribution and will be missed sorely.
I think this whole thing has been blown out of proportion. How does a network or studio decide who gets punished and who is forgiven. Sounds like unfair politics. I hope another network gives him a job and pays him more. He is a talented actor.
By the way, I don't agree with what he said about TR but "the crime does not fit punishment" .......
I have only one word for you : " IMUS "
I think you guys all do a great job. However, i'd like to bring to your attention that as cute as the word "cojones" may seem, it's actually quite offensive to spanish speakers. you wouldn't say "balls" on t.v. and "cojones" is actually much stronger than "balls". so it was quite striking when Billy Bush said it on camera. Just keep in mind that jsut because it's in another language, it's any less obscene. i don't usually care of that kind of stuff, but if we're respecting people by not saying some really crude word in english, we shouldn't say it in spanish either. thanks for all the hard work you do.
Re: Paltrow's cane. Few patients realize that a cane goes in the hand opposite of the injury; bad right knee = cane left hand. Help her out.
Isaiah Washington has been caught in a lie. He said twice on Larry King that he did bring T.R. into it after first saying it had nothing to do with T.R. Please read the transcript.
I said, "I don't -- I don't want to bring anymore attention to this than I already have. I don't want to throw anybody under the bus, but I've got to clear my name. I -- this is misinterpreted. I did not say" -- I said yes, you're not going to "B" me, "P" me, "F" me, because I'm not T.R. I never said you are T.R.
Going back to me thinking that I could be the big brother, to defend my family and T.R. which is not my place to do, against so- called bullying.
He just said, "Well, you're trying to" -- I said but remember, you know, the conversation we had on the plane, you know, about you feeling very angry about how certain things were being handled and the way you were being treated. I said you know if anything, the only reason I brought your name into this is because I felt like I was defending you against some bullying.

I'm sorry, Isaiah keeps changing his story. I was very upset when he was fired, but then I could see that his apologies were not sincere. He then said T.R. should have been fired. THEN he had a different tone after T.R. got an Emmy nomination. He needs to make up his mind.
Does it really matter who he was directing the words to,should he call Patrick Dempsey a F---t or anyone, why didn't you ask him if he lunged at PD and choked him that was also reported. Now he is blaiming PD instead of owning up he changes his story with each interveiw he did it he is sorry got counsling didn't do it. Clearly he should stop talking,he can't tell the truth
