Access Hollywood Field Producer Steve Harding, our cameraman and soundman have been outside the Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood, California since 9PM Pacific, waiting for Paris Hilton’s impending release.
At last count, more than 100 members of the media, over 40 still cameras, 25 video cameras and 12 satellite trucks were on scene. “There are more cameras than at a premiere,” Harding writes from his spot behind the yellow police tape.
Below is Harding’s account from the scene:
9:44 PM: There are rumors galore here that Paris is out between 12-12:15AM. She is expected to be released right away. Paris’ parents Kathy & Rick Hilton, we’re hearing, are going to pick her up.
Things here are hopping with media trucks, as expected.
10:13 PM: Currently, I am in a car with an NBC producer scoping out the six different entrances here at Century Regional. We are paying special attention to the deliveries entrance. No crews are there, but it is a main gate with much activity. We stopped to chat with one agency photographer who is waiting by that entrance. He feels crews are still coming and as I type this, another is pulling up. We are considering moving our Telemundo affiliate cameraman to that entrance. Another producer is going with him to see how close we can get over there, as police are there in cars. The police have also said we can’t go into the courtyard here at the jail otherwise we will get arrested.
Also, for what it’s worth, we recently heard a helicopter taking off from the roof.
10:47 PM: The crew count is increasing and police tape is holding everyone back. We are however allowed to use the main lobby bathrooms. All the crews love that.
Everyone is chilling now. It’s not too hot or too cold.
The rumors persist that Kathy and Rick Hilton will pick up their daughter Paris around midnight. We have a spot on the line that I am happy with -- it means giving up the long shot, which NBC News has for us anyway, for a clear and close shot of her ride home. We repositioned the Telemundo crew to that entrance I mentioned earlier, of course who knows what -- if anything, will happen.
Oh, and I remembered to bring a portable chair for the first time ever, though I’ve been running around too much to use it, yet.
11:40 PM: The Hilton’s arrived five minutes ago. They almost snuck in, but instead there was a huge media melee. They were just going to park! They turned around and drove back out!
11:45 PM: Everything really seems to be building to the strike of midnight. A helicopter, (sometimes two) is now perched overhead. People are getting into position. More people are gathering including many fans or bystanders. Cops starting to take positions
11:57 PM: Paris parents have pulled right up to the front entrance.
11:59 PM: Sheriffs line up and form a sort of barricade. Everyone is tense. Four helicopters are circling overhead.
12:07 AM: Paris’ parents are just sitting in a car at the end of the entrance waiting. Fans shouted to Kathy. She yelled back something, but I couldn’t hear from my spot. We’re all just waiting. Tick tock. Tick tock.
12:15 AM: Here she comes!!!!! Freeeee! Pop the bubbly!!!!
12:18 AM: She strutted! By herself. Paris smiled and touched fans and ran up to her mom and gave her a huge hug. It’s crazy mayhem down here. Ouch! I just got slammed!
Your coverage of Paris leaving jail was overkill! It's unfortunate that a show like Access Hollywood would give someone like her such glorifying coverage! She is a disgrace to Hollywood, she is a disgrace to all women.... The media should not give such an ego maniac camera-time, and concentrate on other women in Hollywood who actually know how to act and other women around the world who are a better representation of decent, upstanding women in society!

I think paris hilton ought to call the brain police, since it's apparent that her time in jail never gave her much added brain cells.
I guess she was happy to be out of jail so she can cause problems again.

I just watched the video clips of Paris' release from jail. Afterwards Joel Epstein briefly spoke about Paris' forced ego rehab. Are there any more clips from Joel? I liked that he didn't judge Paris, and thought that what he was saying was interesting as well as unbiased. I wonder what he would say about other young starlettes such as Lindsay Lohan or Nicole richie?
Also the show mentioned he had a book...do you know where I could find copies?

Paris, you have no clue what it is to be a real beautiful woman. Working for a living. We turned the Larry King show off after the first commercial break. What a joke you are. Once again life is all about you! What about the millions of working people whom actually do like bologna because that is all they can afford!

Im so sick of hearing about Paris. enough already its jail there's alot of people who are sent there its not a big deal especially only 23 days give me a break! It does give me something to laugh about. Im so glad I dont live in LA id probably shoot everyone there for being so stupid.
ALRIGHT ALREADY! I cannot begin to express my disgust with this whole Paris crap.....but that won't stop me from trying. What I really watch in her move on TV and internet is not this boring girl but the media circus targeting our teens with Paris who doesn't have a half brain to make interesting comment rather than -hot- thousand times speaking of it... Can you really do that? Are you a nut? I laugh out loud because Paris has to show everything about her including her booties including what(gosh) to get famous, but still can't cover her not enough brain and not enough charm with more than everything and her Daddy's $$$ from the public which he could inherit through the unfair money redistribution system in our economy. I consider the money is stolen from us.

I just saw her jailhouse letter up for auction on the site Epier.
It's sad that we are so interested in somebody else's life and so obssesed with what goes on in a 20 something's life that we give her our time and money and eventually make her even bigger and brighter than she was before, and all this from her drinking and driving??!!! America as a whole has some real soul searching to do!
I am sick of seeing Access spend all of this time on Paris. Please move on. Someone else, anybody else is more news worthy then the fake and phony Paris we see. Many folks have asked for your stories to stop. Please take the public seriously.
I too am sick of hearing about no talent/known because she was born rich & acts like a bimbo Paris! Get a life Media people! We are sick of seeing and hearing about this no talent,selfish,spoiled, noclass ho! She was born rich into a family that owns hotels, and she obviously does her work/advertisement for them by doing the nasty with men that care only about her name,and making money off their videos of her anorexic self doing the nasty!She is not a role model for our young,and actually she is as fake as you can get, she is actually a brown eyed brunette,with a beak nose, huge feet, and looks like a skeleton! Why all the negative comments? I have empathy for Paris, it was a very traumatic experience for her to go to jail. As a mother, we hope a lesson has been learned about drinking and driving at anytime, and more especially with disregard to the justice system and human life. I wish Paris the best of luck for a brighter future.

Access Hollywood and all the other news media are playing this for all its worth. If she didn't have such popularity, would they show her over and over again? Or is the media causing her to be popular? It just goes to show you that an heiress to the Hilton Hotel chain is the one making all this money for our media. Is this really considered news??
