It's Here! Friday's are "High School Musical 2" Days

While there I did sit-down interviews with the six main cast members, Ashley Tisdale, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Corbin Bleu, Lucas Grabeel and Monique Coleman. We covered topics ranging from the choreography, to the film's plot, to what they did on their time off from filming and how their lives have changed since the first film. I also put each cast member to the test, quizzing them on their co-stars with questions like, "Who spends the most time in the makeup trailer? And "Who has the messiest room here?"

Then we took several of the stars off to shoot special segments. Ashley gave us a tour of the wardrobe trailer and Sharpay's over the top outfits. Vanessa gave us a tour of the casita she was living in while filming. Zac took us golfing and Corbin gave us a tour of the Entrada Country Club which was filling in as Lava Springs, the name of the country club where the East High Wildcats will be working this summer.

I also carried around my own little video camera and captured some off the cuff moments with the stars. You'll only see that on our website but you'll have to wait until August for that since I'm heading off on vacation and I want to spend some time putting it together when I get back.

Meanwhile, I wont be greedy and I'll give you a few tidbits in the next couple of weeks to feed your appetite for HSM2. Did you know that Ashley has nicknames for all her co-stars. Vanessa is Nessa or V. Zac is Zachary which she says no one else calls him. Monique is Mo or Mo Mo. Lucas she calls Lukey and Corbin is Corby.

You might be surprised to find out that Monique's assistant is actually Lucas' sister, Autumn. Plus, get this.. Lucas actually attended the same High School as Brad Pitt (of course there is a twenty-year age difference. So obviously not at the same time!) did in Springfield, Missouri. Kickapoo High School. Now there is a name.

I told you that Zac will be singing in the sequel. His voice was dubbed over in the original movie. Of course, if you want to hear what his singing voice sounds like then you can get an early sneak peek by seeing him as Link Larkin in "Hairspray" when it opens July 20th. I've seen a screening and he is adorable in this film. He already is like a throwback to the old time teen heartthrobs of the 50's and 60's and this just solidifies that. If you love him now, you will love him even more after that film.

On set we talked about why they chose not use his vocals in the first HSM even though he has a good singing voice, " I've always been able to sing so...I'm not exactly sure, it's hard to get a full story. It doesn't really matter at this point. I hope everyone likes it. It's different but I hope it works. I think it'll compliment the music. The songs are different this time. I get to be a little more rock and roll, I think my voice fits pretty well. "

Some work with a vocal coach helped out, "I definitely had to brush up. It's been a while since the musical theater days but it's kinda like riding a bike.. Your voice is always gonna be there. It's always gonna be able to come out and shine. "

His co-star and real life rumored girlfriend, Vanessa, gave him high praise, "Zac's voice actually really impressed me. I was really blown away when I actually heard him sing. It's like a rocker's voice. He should be a rocker. He should be on stage rocking it out. It's so amazing. I'm so proud of him."
