Thank you "Hannah Montana!"
While Access Hollywood was off on hiatus last week, I was busy planning a special visit to the set of "Hannah Montana" for my 4 1/2-year-old cousin, Rachel. I have a very small family so her mom, Michelle is like a sister to me and Rachel and her 7-year-old sister, Hannah, are more like nieces to me. Rachel was diagnosed with Leukemia when she was just two years old. After a long two and a half year course of treatment she was finally deemed cancer-free at her last doctor's appointment. She'll continue to be monitored for five years and if all goes well in those five years she will be considered cured.
To celebrate the end of her treatment, Rachel got to choose where she wanted to go on vacation. Apparently, she told her mom, "I want to go see cousin Laura in California." So, the pressure was on for me to deliver something special. I figured a meeting with one of their favorite TV stars might be a good gift. When I asked my cousin Michelle what the girls favorite TV show was there was no hesitation, "Hannah Montana." At first, I figured I had no shot of making this happen as I was pretty sure no one would be taping the week of Fourth of July. Fortunately, I was wrong and thanks to the marvelous folks at the Disney Channel, I was able to set it all up.
We decided not to tell the girls about their big day until right before we got in the car to go to the studio. This way if for some reason it didn't happen we would not have to break their little hearts. It could not have been more perfect as that same morning a UPS package arrived for the girls from the publicity team at Disneyland. They had set up a special day for Rachel as well, and a private meet and greet with Cinderella. "Cinderella" had sent along a princess package for the girls filled with gloves, a tiara, an autograph book and other goodies. When we told them we were about to go meet Hannah Montana, their mouths dropped open. That autograph book was going to come in very handy now.
We arrived around 11am and took our seats in the stands where the audience sits for the taping. Everyone was gathered for a scene on the Rico's Beach Shack set. Just as we sat down I pointed out Miley Cyrus (who plays Hannah Montana) to my cousin Hannah (yep, same name!). She saw me pointing at her and immediately gave her a big wave and a smile to her little fan. We all sat and watched the taping together as the girls sat mesmerized. "There's Lily!" little Rachel pointed out. My guess is that at their age this was all a little confusing to them. They don't quite get that the stuff they see on TV is not real and that the people are actors playing a part.
My family got a little lesson in what I do as we sat for a long time waiting and watching as they shot the same scene over and over again. There is a whole lot of waiting every time I got to a set for an interview for Access Hollywood. Then bam just like that you get your interview and it’s over before you know it! The girls were getting pretty antsy and then they finally wrapped up the beach shack scene and moved over to the family's house set.
The lights came up on the house set and that same look of amazement came over their little faces. This was a set they were very used to seeing on the show. Again, I'm not sure they understood that the house they live in is on a sound stage and not actually a real house. Just as we sat down and got settled we were ushered out for the big moment. Miley was waiting in the hallway to meet Rachel and Hannah. You could tell this is something she does very often. She was so sweet and so kind to them, posing for pictures and signing their autograph books. It all went by in a huge flash. It's hard to know who enjoyed the experience more. The girls who got to meet their idol or myself and their parents who got to watch the looks on their faces.
The story about "meeting Hannah Montana" brought me to tears. I have 3 nieces and 2 nephews and thry to do things for them same just like you, so I can get the joy from their reaction. I can't have kids of my own and the do things for them helps.
May you niece be happy and healthy for years to come due to your love and devotion.
That is so sweet after what she was through she deserved it.
Thank you so much for making the sun shine brightly for Rachel and Hannah. They couldn't stop talking about what a wonderful time they had with you. Michele and Dave were ever so grateful too. You're a darling and I love you.You already know how proud I am of you, too.

What a nice gesture and it surely makes a great story. I am a friend of Rachel's grandmother and couldn't be happier for the whole family.
I work at the Day Care Center that Rachel attends now and Hannah used to attend until she became a big school age girl! Right from the day Michelle called us, I felt a close connection to this family! They have been through so much, but not a day goes by that Michelle isn't smiling & upbeat! I admire & respect her & Dave so much! And the girls!! well, to know them is to love them forever! Thank You for giving them such a special treat! I always felt I was special to these girls and now I know why... Cousin Laura & I have the same name!! Lucky for me!! Thanks again!!
aw... so sweet!
how do i meet hannah montana 4 free?
that is so so sweet miley is my idoel and i wish i could meet her i no everything about her and iv always wanted to meet her
I think it's terrible that scalpers are charging as much as $3000 for a ticket to her concert. I agree she is a great performer and my kids like her.....but not for 3K.
I think she needs to speak up publicaly and put these scalpers out of business. Nothing against her personally, but she needs to not let this happen. Topping the Police, Bruce Springsteen or Van Halen. Does she not think there is something wrong here? I know ticket scalping has been around for ever and I have even used them from time to time........BUT GET REAL
STOP THE MADNESS
you are the best ever
Hannah Montana
It is great. I like it very much. You are the best forever.

I feel proud seeing a small baby fighting with the tough condition she has gone through. I also admire and find maturity in the wish she had when she was asked about celebrating a vacation.
