The Plot Of 'High School Musical 2'
To quote the "High School Musical 2" music video that I've been watching over and over today as I write a story for Access Hollywood about Vanessa Hudgens, "What Time Is It? Summer Time! It's our vacation!" Well, its my vacation time too for the next two weeks. I'm off to see family and then a nice relaxing week in Hawaii with no cell phones and no blackberrys.
I promise to continue doling out the "HSM2" information when I return on August 5th. That gives you just twelve days to wait for the big premiere on Disney Channel. I just got word that the cast will have their big red carpet premiere on August 15th at Disneyland. Fun! I plan on being there for all the hoopla and I promise to get you much more detailed information about what they wear. This seems to be a popular thing! To keep your appetite satiated while I'm gone here's a little bit from Vanessa Hudgens, Zac Efron and Ashley Tisdale talking about their storyline.
DOS: So, tell me about the story
Ashley : The story this time around is School's Out for Summer. And it takes place at Ryan and Sharpay's family's country club. She wants to get out of school. She wants to get away from all the drama. Her year at school wasn't the best. So, this time around, she's just wanting to leave school, go to her country club that she goes to every summer that she owns practically and just have a great summer and things will be better.
But Ryan actually gives her the idea that I should have Troy Bolton. And so she gets the idea of wanting to have Troy Bolton for the summer work at her country club. Unfortunately, to get Troy here, Gabriella comes and the Wildcats and everybody from school is here. And so it's like the school year all over again. Once she finds out that they're here she kind of puts them through, I guess, hell, if I can say that. She is always getting Gabriella in trouble. And she has this star talent show that she does every year and she wins the trophy but this time, instead of with Ryan, she wants to win it with Troy.
DOS: So she is dead set on winning Troy?
Ashley: Yeah, she wants to win the love of Troy and win the award. Her eyes are always on the prize. Troy's just like an accessory.
DOS: Sharpay is trying to steal you away?
Zac: There's a little bit of a love triangle in this one, actually I think it's more of a love square, if you can have that.
DOS: Who's the fourth?
Zac: See, I can tell you but I'd have to kill you. I'm sure someone will leak it but I don't want to be the one to do it.
DOS: Is Gabriella caught off guard because she thinks that Troy and her are happy?
Vanessa: Well, she really trusts Troy and she's there for him. She doesn't see it as Sharpay trying to win Troy over. She sees it as somebody trying to help Troy with his future education, trying to give him a scholarship but she finally realizes that Sharpay isn't there for help but there for herself and she's being completely selfish. We kind of battle it off!
DOS: So, Troy gets caught up in the whole country club thing and Gabriella stays more grounded?
Vanessa: Yeah. Gabriella always grew up moving and everything. She was always into her education and always thinking about the future. Finally when she came to East High she took her head out of a book and she opened her eyes and saw the world for what it could be and she learned to love it. She came out of her shell. She did her own thing. She went for what she wanted and the result was amazing. She just kind of backs off, she still focused on her education but she definitely is going to have some fun in the process. Troy has always been the other way around. He was always into baseball, basketball I meant. It was a push because of his father, but now because of the pressure of going to college and everything, if someone offers you a scholarship your going to get it. He gets lured in by the whole richness of the Evans family.
DOS: Will there be a kiss in this film?
Zac Efron: Will there be a kiss in "High School Musical 2"? It's the big question. It was missing from the first film, but you know what? I don't think it was necessary, it made it so great. I love the fact that people are saying, where was the kiss? Why didn't they kiss? It left people interested, the movie didn't need it. Why put it in ? I would love to kiss someone in this film, I think it would be great, but I don't know if I necessarily do.
He knows he just wouldn't tell me! Don't forget to watch Access Hollywood every Friday for brand new "HSM2" segments. Plus, my favorite folks on Team Web will be putting together all sorts of exclusive video while I'm gone. So, it will be like I never even left. Enjoy. Aloha to all!

Thanks for keeping us up to date... very exciting that they're having the premiere at Disneyland! Wonder if they'll set up a huge screen in front of Tom Sawyer's Island like they did for the Pirates premieres... or if they'll show the movie in a smaller venue within the park.

Wow, thanks! That's awesome, thanks for that information. I was really starting to get worried because there was a rumor floating around that troy was going to kill himself in the second one because of various horrible things happening to the people in his life but I don't believe that.

I'm a huge fan of the 1st HSM; however, Unfortunately the 1st 30 minutes have been so unrealistic and artificial it is disappointing. The songs are way over pop-digitized. The greatness of the 1st one was that it was so naturally organic that any High School could take it and reproduce it without the large budget.
