DOS: Your HSM2 Questions Answered

I've enjoyed reading all of your emails about why you love the film and I wanted to share a few of them here. My favorite was from Bianca who tells me that Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens are like the "Brangelina" for the pre-teen and teen set. Now, I know you guys love to hear all the details of their dating life but I agree with why they have chosen to keep it as private as possible. They are both smart kids who realize they are only 18 and 19 years old. Neither knows what the future holds so why risk saying something that may come back to haunt you in this past? We folks in the media love to pull out old interviews whenever someone makes up or breaks up. You know those interviews where someone professes their undying love for their partner only to divorce less than two years later. Britney Spears comes to mind.

I love to hear from parents, too. Barbara from Pleasant Garden, North Carolina agreed with me that a movie like HSM is just great, clean, wholesome fun. She gives three cheers for bringing backing the musical genre, which many had thought had grown corny. I am a big Disney fan as you all know but sometimes dealing with them can be frustrating. They have very strict guidelines about what information they will give out. It's been near impossible to get you any sort of information out of them on the clothes seen in the film. There was a recent People magazine article where they mentioned much of the stuff was bought at either The Gap, Forever 21 or Express. By now most of it is probably out of season since the film was shot back in March.

Not all the reviews of them film were positive though. Hanifa sent me an email saying she "pretty much slept through the movie." Overall I think it was a winner but I too will admit to getting a little bored in the beginning. Hanifa also called into question whether or not the vocals actually belonged to Vanessa, Zac and Ashley. Yes, this was absolutely their voices. However, many of you may not know that when they shoot a film, they actually record the tracks beforehand in a recording studio. The recorded playback is then used during the actual filming of scenes. It's takes so many "takes "to get the shot on film it would be impossible to sing it live each and every time. Plus, the sound would not be good.

A big shout out to Taylor in Phoenix, Arizona who, while we were all enjoying HSM 2, had a very terrible weekend. Her brother and his girlfriend got into what sounds like a horrific accident on Thursday night. I was relieved to learn they were both ok and escaped with only burns, cuts, some broken ribs and stitches. Obviously that shook her up a bit but just knowing she would get to see HSM soon got her through the day. She's a smart chick too because she knows how important is it to look up to role models with good moral values and not these celebrities going out getting busted for DUI's.
