'Dancing's' Men Take To The Floor
![]()
There may be a sibling rivalry on the dance floor between last season's DWTS champ Julianne Hough and her brother, Derek (who is partnering up with Jennie Garth this season). But off the floor seems to be another story. I caught the two out for drinks last night after the show taping along with fellow dancers Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Cheryl Burke who had her boyfriend, Matthew Lawrence with her. There had been rumors about a possible relationship between Julianne and Apolo Anton Ohno, her last season dancing partner but judging from the fact that she walked in hand in hand with another guy this seems highly unlikely. After last night's performance it looks like Julianne could be on her way to another title.
Helio Castroneves - I never heard of this guy until he signed up for DTWS but he sure did make people, outside of his Indy car racing fans, take notice last night with his Foxtrot. It helps that he has such an amazing partner in Julianne, who can surely bring out even more from him. If you'll recall, Apolo's first week out was good but not stellar. He only scored 21/30 while Helio earned a 25/30. So, he's on his way. Helio let slip to us a little secret that even Julianne didn't know. He was having secret rehearsals by himself the night before competition, "Three o clock in the morning I was in my bathroom. It was small but I was like one two three ok turn ok good."
Albert Reed - He didn't actually say it last night but this cutie model's late grandfather was a ballroom dancer. He seems to have picked up some of his moves and a few from watching old Elvis movies. Truthfully, during his taped piece I kind of thought he might be a goner but his very energetic, very funny dance just might have spared him a week or two. The open shirt showing off his hot body helped too. Expect to see more of that as Albert admitted to us why he did it, "Well, you know sex sells might as well use it to my advantage."
Wayne Newton - Talk about stiff and I don’t just mean his dancing. The poor guy’s face never moved a muscle. He's a good sport for taking on this challenge though and I guarantee will be sticking around for a while. This show tends to attract an older audience (right, mom?) and they want to see them perform despite the cracks and creaks that may be happening. Forget the Advil after a performance Wayne, who had his knee replaced five years ago, jokes he's got his own secret ritual, " A prayer and a little glass of vodka!"
Cameron Mathison - It doesn't matter how well this guy dances. Soap fans are die hard and they will carry him through to the semi-finals guaranteed. Personally, I thought he was a little bit off last night and looked pretty uncomfortable. Poor guy has got his work cut out for him from here on out learning a new dance each week with his schedule, "On Thursday and Friday I got to shoot 85 pages of dialogue on All My Children in New York. Red eye there. Red eye back, hopefully that I am coming back!"
Mark Cuban - His billion dollar bank account can't buy him a win in this competition but personality should save him for a few weeks. I'm guessing some of the older crowd will think he is cute and would be a nice match for their single granddaughters or daughters (right, mom?)
Floyd Mayweather - They could have not partnered this cocky boxer with a better partner, the equally cocky Karina Smirnoff. She's my girl and I hope she can whip him into shape because I would hate to see her get bumped out of the competition because he's not willing to put the effort in. He seemed to be all over the place in his Cha Cha last night. I'm not sure he won over any viewers last night but hopefully Karina's fans will step up and vote.
Prediction: I think poor Josie Maran doesn't stand a chance. Her partner Alec Mazo was knocked out first last season with his last model partner, Paulina Porizkova, and my guess is the same thing will happen tonight.
Well it looks like your prediction was correct, I think it was Josie that got kicked off last night. I think I will continue cheering for Sabrina although I am a huge fan of Julianne as well.
