iPhone Idolatry
Our web team has been doing a great job of web site genesis. I've been lax in contributing to it. They've even given me my own category and that comes with certain obligation. So I'm blogging now.
A lot's happening, including ~
I got an iPhone. Picked it up on the launch date. I hadn't intended to. My computer-savvy-much-wiser-than-me husband said, "wait, let's wait". A reasoned thought, considering the new chipset was already being processed in China. But, while he was observing the slick launch hype at the Third Street Promenade Apple Store, I settled into the line of eager buyers. The line was not as lengthy as I expected, extending only 1/2 way around the block. And by the time my husband was done downing his third free Starbucks and taking photos of the scene at the entrance - applauding employees and the exuberant first buyers walking in and out the door - I was moments away from point of entry. So I got one.
The iPhone changes everything. For me personally, it's the PDA/Phone I've been waiting for. For the greater universe, it demonstrates clearly and intuitively what this technology can become. Apple's techne astonishes once again and a new species is born.
Now, iPhone idolatry is rampant, I know. But experience tells me it's justified. IMHO, this elegant device changes the future of the way we interact with technology. We've stepped through a portal and we're headed into the land of the great techno-imaginists William Gibson and Philip K. Dick.
So, you'll see the iPhone on the show in some form. Don't know how yet. But it's comin'! It's such a great media delivery device, among other things, and all in the palm of your hand!
