Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony
Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony – once on the cover of all the tabloid magazines – are now out of the glare of the media spotlight. But, don’t take their low profile as a sign that the couple isn't as strong as ever.
When you are around the two of them, you feel their spark, their energy, their love.
I was very excited when I found I that I was flying to New York to interview the two of them. Marc and Jennifer had never done a sit-down interview together, so this was a big exclusive.
This was the couple who, when first married, wouldn't even pose for pictures together. I interviewed them while they rehearsed in New Jersey for their upcoming tour together, called, “En Concierto.” Surprisingly, this is the first time that Jennifer Lopez has ever been on tour. But, holding her hand every step of the way is her husband of 3 years who proudly sports a tattoo on his wrist that simply says, “Jennifer.”
Marc, who has a joke-a-minute, brings out the Jennifer’s funny, light-hearted side.
Okay, first question, who is going to kick off the show? The answer is a practical one, Jennifer says. Marc goes on stage first because it gives her more time to get ready. Marc says he wants to get on and off stage so he can sit back and chill for the rest of the show.
How do they warm up? For Jennifer, it’s lots of steam facials and chanting her vocal warm-up of “Me, me, meeee.” For Marc, it’s a pack of Newports and a Coors Light. (Yes, he smokes but, walks far, far away from wifey when he lights up.)
What is the one “must have” while they are on tour?
For Marc, it’s KFC. Jennifer teases, “Enough with the Kentucky Fried Chicken. I just can’t eat that stuff!”
Their life is so different today than when they first married 3 years ago when the paparazzi followed their every move.
Jennifer says that Marc helped her get away from the spotlight. The couple says they are very creative when it comes to avoiding aggressive photographers. Jennifer says, if she is going to the gym or somewhere, she will put a bag over her head or do whatever she can to prevent them from getting a picture of her.
The result is a happier, quieter, relationship.
What you notice about Marc and Jennifer is that, despite their superstar status as a couple, they are pretty normal. And very cute.
They hold hands. Marc kisses her shoulder. They laugh a lot. And hug. Just very affectionate but, not in that “please get a room” way.
Just like two people who have found their soul mate.
I just wonder about the relationship between Jennifer and her step children...Does she spend alot of time with them?
Could you ask them, Shaun?
