Shooting Down Miley Cyrus' Pregnancy Rumors
I'm on vacation but I did relent and check my blackberry.
I read a press release from E! News trumpeting their Miley Cyrus red carpet interview tonight where she shoots down pregnancy rumors. WHAT????
What in God's great name has the world come to that a 14-year-old girl, no matter how famous she is, is not impervious to such grotesque slander.
Is anyone else outraged that the innocence of a 14-year-old girl can be so easily sacrificed?
I hit "reply all" to my people on stuff expressing my outrage...I called it shameful in every way...even covering it.
Then I got several emails back...."Billy, it’s our lead story tonight". Gulp.
To each I responded that I still felt it was wrong. To my beloved friend and Executive Producer Rob Silverstein, I wrote this:
It’s gutting. This is too far. Children pregnancy rumors, which are so obviously false, should not make our air. Shameful. If I were there I would NOT do it. She's 14... 14!!!!!!!!
You know, you could do a "shooting down the rumor" story on anybody and any thing...you have to decide what's tasteful and what is clearly not.
Rob sent me the written copy of the piece that was scheduled to air...it included Miley's hurt and Miley's mom voicing outrage to our camera. She spoke of the purity ring Miley wears and that she is committed to celibacy until she is married.
I have three daughters...that's a kid I want my girls looking up to and thankfully they do.
I think it’s good that the words of Miley's mom are out there. I'm just very sorry they had to surface in reaction to a new low in gossip.
Billy I completely agree with everything you just said. The fact that any celeb has to deal with rumors is wrong but the fact that a 14 year old girl and her family actually has to go out and deny this story is awful. I cant believe someone would actually take to time to write a story like this in the first place. When I have children I hope they have someone like Miley to look up to.
This is not about the present blog, but I was really upset by the remark Billy made last evening when introducing the segment about Maureen McCormick and Eve Plumb's alledged affair during the Brady Bunch Show days. It was uncalled for to say that "Maybe Alice provided the hook-up" or something to that nature. RUDE and UNCALLED for !!!!!
I don't know how to email him or the show directly.
This just shows what the media will do so we will buy their trash.. I used to buy the rags and now I know that 99% of it are all lies. You work in a field of corruption my friend. Every morning get up and look in the mirror and ask yourself is it worth it. Have you ever written a lie or exaggerated about someone knowing that it will devastate the person????
This is ridculous i am the biggest miley fan ever. how could anyone ever say that about her? shes 14 years old why would you start something that awful about a 14 year old girl? People have nothing to talk about apparently. and these people saying oh it was an accident that it was in j-14. it probably wasnt, you guys just want to make a little more money on a hoax. maybe you people from that magazine should just quit now considering you lost your repuation for being ANY good at all. everyone knows its not true.
I really in all my mind think that Miley Cyrus is NOT pregnanet. Again shes 14!! Who would ever make this kind of rumor?? I ♥ Miley Cyrus. I'm like her biggest fan!!!!!!
But still my point is, STOP SAYING RUMORS LIKE THIS ABOUT CELEBERTIES. Just think... how would you like it???
How sad it is that people try to drag you down if your life seems to be going a little too well... Kudos to Miley Cyrus (and her parents) for being a GREAT role model to all the little girls who look up to her and revere her. She is sending the right message by promoting abstinence before marriage. It just shows you don't need to be in the gossip magazines every week behaving BADLY to become a huge star.

Miley isn't that kinda girl. She's so sweet. She won't do that...EVER!!!
Miley could have been pregnant. 14 is not too young to have babies so repeating over and over, "She's only 14!" is not the way to make a strong and convincing argument. How about just saying that Miley is way too grounded and sensible to be preggers and that she's protected by both parents, her brothers and sisters and everyone else around her. No one is going to let Miley be anything less than who she really is and that is an amazingly talented, generous, and smart individual. And quite honestly, seeing how someone like Miley and her family RESPONDS to negative comments and horrible rumors, says a lot about who they are. So many celebs fail at being gracious yet strong when fighting rumors and ultimately make themselves look bad even if they are in the right. Miley and everyone around her handled the rumors with poise and dignity and quite honestly, that's what people will remember the most. So in some weird way, the nasty rumor has made Miley an even more inspiring person in the eyes of her fans.
As for Chad, who has problems with Billy's comment about Alice hooking Eve and Maureen up... IT WAS A JOKE! Get a sense of humor. Seriously.

I think its stupid for y'all to think shes pregnant what kind of 14 year old celebrity would want to be pregnant i mean there is not that much stress in being famous and stop spreading rumors about other people or celebritys expecially Miley Cyrus because I Love Miley Cyrus and i am her # 1 fan so leave her alone how would you like it if someone spread rumors about you....... You wouldnt like it so leave Miley Cyrus ALONE!!!!!!!!!

I am a mother of 3 girls 16, 10 and 5. All my daughters like Miley. She is a good role model. Even if she was pregnant its none of anyones business but hers. I dont believe she is pregnant. but i do think people have nothing better to do with their time but dog on a famous teen girl. GET A LIFE PEOPLE!!!!!
