'The Hill's' Stars Plastic Surgery Confessions

I've only ever seen the show one time but thanks to magazines like US Weekly and Star, I'm always caught up on the latest feuds and fiascos of the girls from this MTV reality show. This week Heidi Montag is on the cover of US Weekly revealing that she did indeed have plastic surgery on her breasts and nose.

I was however horrified by the headline on the cover of the magazine that called it "Revenge Plastic Surgery." When Heidi arrived to the US Weekly Hot Hollywood party last night I congratulated her on the cover but told her I thought the headline was disgraceful and she agreed, " I saw that and I was like- I don't know what that's supposed to mean, but it's a headline and that's what sells magazines."

True. I still think it’s an irresponsible headline. The girls who watch "The Hills" look up to these women and the message it sends is that it's ok to change yourself to get back at others. Fortunately, that's not what the article inside is about. It's actually about a young girl who was so self-conscious about the way she looked she made a heartfelt decision to change it. Heidi says, "I'm not ashamed of what I do in my life. It's not like let's get plastic surgery for fun, it was something that was really painful and tormenting for me throughout my life."

In a town where many people choose to lie about whether or not they went under the knife, I applaud Heidi for her candor. It's never an easy decision to open about such a personal choice but what message do we send people when we lie? Isn't that worse? She told me, "It was really hard, I thought about it for a long time, and there was just so much negative press about it, and everyone was just thriving off it. So, I was like you know what I'm not going to be like most people in this town. I'm just going to admit I did it because almost every person has done something or another."

Some girls look up to these stars as role models though, so I did have to follow up by finding out if she felt this was sending a terrible message to teenagers. Heidi says no, "I mean if you want to that's your own prerogative, but that's each person's decisions. I'm not saying that it's right or its wrong- but you know as being a role model, but also being a person, you know you have to do what's best for you in your life at the same time."

To be honest, challenging Heidi on her decision to have surgery I kind of felt like a hypocrite. I myself will admit right here, right now that I have also gone under the knife and had rhinoplasty. It was not a decision I went into lightly. I think each and every one of us is beautiful the way were are and we need to embrace what we were given. My choice was a long time coming and for the most part I made the decision not to do it and had forgotten about it. When I moved back to Los Angeles, in 2004, my breathing problems intensified due to all the smog and dry air. I was constantly sniffing and always felt like I had a permanent sinus problem. So, I went to see an ear, nose and throat doctor who informed me I had a shattered septum most likely from an injury I had suffered during a bicycle accident where I face planted off my bike.

This made the decision to undergo the procedure easier. Once I made it though, I knew if I was going to do it then I was going to go full tilt and have a plastic surgeon fix the cosmetic issues as well. I found the top doctor in Los Angeles with the most immaculate reputation. He changed my life in many ways. Most importantly my sniffling subsided but on a personal level I gained a level of self-confidence at work. It gave me the power to go out and pursue an on-camera career, which is something I had given up on. It's hard to have a camera constantly tight on your face and especially here where you are 90 percent of the time in profile. Now, I no longer worry about this stuff.

I do not think plastic surgery is for everyone especially young girls. Your teenage years and even your twenties are a tough time where we are finding ourselves. The easy fix is to go out and change what we don't like about ourselves instead of learning to accept who we are.

Here's the message I think the magazine should have put out to its young readers and why I'm revealing my own story. Number one, the old cliché that you can't fix what's wrong on the inside is so true. If you have a poor self-image to begin with getting plastic surgery doesn't change that. Those are issues you have to deal with internally with yourself or with help from a counselor or therapist. The truth is the more you learn to love yourself for who you are, the more likely you are to not worry about changing something you don't like.

Number two, surgery is always dangerous and requires tons of healing time and you have to beware of the risks. There are too many doctors out there who are just trying to make a buck. Do your research.

Number three, never ever do it for someone else. Do it for yourself only.

Number four, remember that people who work in the entertainment industry (especially women) are held to a much higher standard. It's not trendy. It's a fact of life and we have to deal with it or get out. I don't think this will ever change.

Finally, a large percentage of the population believes that plastic surgery is always wrong for cosmetic reasons. Talk to those people too so you see both sides of the argument.

I don't think that there is anything wrong with plastic surgery.i wouldn't do it myself. when she has baby later in life her tits are gonna get saggy so she is going to have to get them done again. !GO LAUREN, SHE IS THE BEST! Nobody cares what heidi or spencer do. They are not important.

Women and girls are cruel human beings. When we judge each other for our looks it just perpetuates whats wrong with the Hollywood myth of beauty. Before you write something about someone nd cut them down for the way they look think about how you would feel if the same thing were said about you.

What I want to know is why these kids or young women look up to these celebs (i.e.Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan) at all! I mean, don't these people have a crappy life once in a while too?! These people aren't perfect...why even look up to them?!?!

I knew that she had a boob job. Its really obvious. Especially seeing her now and when they first filmed the hills, everyone would have noticed that they have gotten bigger.

there is anything wrong with plastic surgery. don't these people have a crappy life once in a while too? Shouldn't it be more than πλαστικος χειρουργος ηρακλειο;
