Thoughts On Vanessa Hudgens' Photo Scandal

I agree with you that she should hold her head up, apologize and go on with her life. If this was leaked by accident I truely feel sorry for Vanessa as no one, celeb or otherwise, should have to deal with something like this.

Regarding what you said about this possibly being leaked by someone in Vanessas camp. One of my friends mentioned that to me yesterday. I am a huge Vanessa fan and will continue to be after this, but I really hope this was not done by her or her camp in order to try and move away from Disney. There are so many other ways to go about changing her career and moving out of the Disney spotlight. It would be a shame to think that all the talk of her being a role model meant nothing if she did this on purpose.

By next week there will be a new "celeb scandel" to talk about, and I know Vanessa will make it though this with her family and friends by her side.

Laura- I am glad you posted on this topic and I was wondering what your opinion was since you have met Vanessa on several occasions. Do you think all her talk about being a role model is true or do you think she really does want to lose the younger fans and move into more grown up stuff.

I can't tell you how sad this news makes me... I don't know if this is the right response, but I actually feel so bad for Vanessa. I really do think that she is a good girl and a role model and that she made a huge mistake. I too thought that it possibly could have been intentionally leaked by her camp, but I dismissed that notion almost immediately. I don't think that her management would put her in that position (nor would she agree to it)... she's only 18!

I am also concerned for Disney Channel, the High School Musical franchise, and the millions of Vanessa's fans. Disney Channel is very careful to make sure their content and their stars are clean and wholesome. This has got to be devastating for Disney Channel. As far as HSM, this will cause problems with HSM 3 negotiations, but I hope that the original cast, including Vanessa, returns. From what I understand, these kids DO want to return for the third film, if the script is right. While money is an issue, I think don't think its the deciding factor as many magazines have pointed out. Also, I absolutely do not think that releasing these photos was a way to separate Vanessa from HSM.

Ah, I'm not even in the entertainment industry, but I really feel for both Vanessa and Disney. I hope everything works out. Vanessa is still a good girl and she's a role model. People make mistakes... She needs to apologize to her fans.

I think there are other ways for her to pull away from the Disney image. Her video for DWTS is more mature. I don't think this was intentional and I feel bad that she was possibly betrayed by someone she really trusted. My family loves Vanessa and will continue to support her. I don't intend for my daughter to see this picture but if she does find out I will use it as an opportunity to tell her to be careful about everything she does. I think Vanessa is still a good role model. She isn't in bars, doing illegal things, or jumping from boy to boy. I am sure we will see her in HSM3 and next week the media will be focused on something else. I hope she is still out of the country with Zac and can stay away while this dies down.

A friend of my today brought up a good point. If the photos were leaked then why such a shocking one. The same effect could have happened had say a topless only photo surfaced. Maybe. It certainly would have a similar effect but not as long lasting.

I have met Vanessa on several occasions. When I was on the set up in Utah what struck me about her was how she was just a typical teenage girl... skating around on Zac's skateboard, throwing baseballs around with the local players and giggling at silly jokes. Of course, I dont know what goes on behind closed doors and frankly it's no one's business anyway. What I do know is that when I saw Vanessa months later at events she seemed to have changed. All of a sudden she had "people" around her, some very high powered people and she was wearing grown up gowns instead of cute girly dresses. I didn't see that with the other girls. She is 18 years old and it is entirely possible her "people" pushed her into doing something like this. When you are young and have adults making decisions for you it can be tough to say no. It's also entirely possible it was stolen property and there is no underhanded antics going on. Whomever would do something like this is an absolute scumbag. I do know that lawyers have forced websites to take the photos down.

I wouldn't count her out as a role model just yet. Again, these were private photos never meant for public consumption. She did absolutely nothing wrong. Let's not pretend that most teenagers don't have intimate moments with their boyfriends and/or girlfriends. You still don't see her out at the clubs like other young "starlets" getting into unsavory activities. The only club I have seen her at is the health club and that's a good thing. Unfortunately, I think she may have to address this though because let's face it the media right now is relentless in their pursuit of scandal. She is scheduled to be on the Tonight Show next Thursday. If she still agrees to appear, I'm confident Jay Leno will handle it gingerly and Vanessa will come out looking like a champ!

Laura- Its interesting to hear your thoughts on the changes Vanessa went though between the filming of HSM2 and when the movie came out. I know on a lot of the fan site forums a lot of people talked about her wearing full length gowns while others (Ashley and Monique) were in fun short dresses. I hope Vanessa does still decide to appear on Jay Leno (she cant hide forever) and at least mentions it so she can put it behind her.

I found out yesterday morning and totally thought the pictures were fake. Then the afternoon came and Vanessa's rep had confirmed the rumors. I don't know why I'm upset. I don't know Vanessa.

But I support her decision to own up to the situation. When the National Enquirer broke the story, there was no denial. And now there is no denial whatsoever.

Was this a ploy? I don't know that either.

But I am glad that Vanessa has apologized. It also makes me wish there aren't anymore HSM's, reason being this incident might come up again. Her wholesome image has been tarnished and it sort of makes me view her differently. Now, will a HSM3 be made amidst the scandel?

I'm a teenager, she's a teenager. I know we make mistakes. I've lied and regret it. At least she's owned up to her mistakes.

But I would like to say I'm still a fan of Vanessa and I hope she's doing ok. She should go on Leno and show that she's strong and will get through this. I know this will all blow over. At least I hope it will.

I completely believe you and it makes complete sense for me that this is not just a matter of simple mistake. There is even more things that lets you believe this argument. The fact only one picture was taken. The picture is pretty conservative so there is probably a chance that this was planned. Right now is the time for many of next year’s summer movies to start finding cast members and this “scandal” raises Vanessa’s chance of getting more attention and maybe a good role which is going to make her a couple million bucks?!
This was probably a really strategic move done by her mangers and advisors. I mean the fact that this “private” picture, that were meant to be sent to Zac, suddenly ends up circulating the web is not 100% believable. And also if you want to look at the matter in a closer point of view, you see that her rep. made the statement about the actuality of the pics within a few hours of this “scandal”. Usually they don’t make any comments for a few years and then they say it was true. However, in this case not only her rep made comments about this really fast, she apologized really fast too.
Even thought I believe this argument I still don’t think that Vanessa is a completely bad person. Hollywood is a really rough place sometime people have to do things that they believe in. I don’t think either way she made the right choice, but judging people based only on one action is not completely fair.

WE Love You Vanessa. Hope you learn a lesson from all of this mess. Where is Zac Efron? He should be there by her side to give support and protect her - his lady love.

It's really just sad, sad, sad. I don't think, though, that all the stuff she has been saying about being a good role model is BS. I think she was sincere in those interviews and obviously thought the days of those photos were way over.
Still, though, actions speak louder than words and we'll all be watching you Vanessa.

I can't seem to get this story out of my mind. It is just so upsetting... I'm not necessarily upset with Vanessa, but rather the schmuck who got a hold of the photos and distributed them.

Laura, interesting observation about her changing from a regular fun-loving girl to being a little more mature, wearing grown up cloths and being surrounded by her "people". I would HATE to think that her management talked her into doing something like this. I think that so many people criticize these stars for being too sweet, too Disney... while it is important to grow-up as an actor, Vanessa and her people shouldn't try to separate from that Disney Channel image. She's still only 18! Why try to grow up so quickly!? I hope that this was just a stupid mistake on Vanessa's part and that the photos simply got in the wrong hands.

Ahh, and the folks at Disney Channel are probably going crazy. But I'm so happy they're backing Vanessa. A DC spokesperson said that she hoped Vanessa learned her lesson. I think the less attention they draw to this, the better. Hopefully it will all just go away soon.

As for next week, I think it would be smart for Vanessa to apologize to her fans on The Tonight Show. It's the perfect opportunity to set the record straight.

And yes, I think that Vanessa can still be seen as a role model. She's not a bad girl at all. Just needs to apologize... and then, make sure she has the right people managing her career.

I know you don't like Vanessa to begin with but to imply she wanted the pictures to leak is rude AND disrespectful on your part. She's said countless times she wants to be a good role model & doesn't want to be the next Lindsay. From those photos, they're very old & it's obvious Vanessa made a mistake but don't hold her accountable for the leak when you don't have proof.

I think that Vanessa done the responsible thing in owning up that she made a mistake and that she has learned from this experience. She is young and only 18 years old and I am glad that Disney seems to be sticking by her as these picture were stolen by someone who obviously knows Vanessa and who was trying to bring her down while making money off her. At first I was not sure why the publicists would admit that picture was real but now I am glad that they used the ‘honesty is the best policy’ approach as when the truth came out she would be seen as a liar as well which would not be a good thing for her at the moment. I don’t feel that she leaked the pictures her self as she only had one more film left to do before she could pick other roles outside the Disney image and Vanessa is an very private person who does not talk about her private life so this would not be something she would do. I don't really see how those pictures could have been from someone in her camp at all. These pictures were take a while ago not recently, This was around the thunderbirds time, I highly doubt her mangement thought it would be a great idea to leak out naked picutres of a 15-16ish year old girl. Eihter way, yes it wasn't smart to take these pictures or atleast send them to anyone but it was compelteley personal, not meant to get out and before she got really famous. I think she's grown up a bit since then and this does not make her a horrible person in any way. I wish her the best in dealing with this.

You know what? It has been pretty obvious based on all your hsm blogs that you have a dislike for Vanessa, and that's fine. She doesn't have to be liked by everyone, but saying that she leaked the pictures herself, or that her management did, is low. Why on earth would she release pictures of her naked that are more than 2 years old? She was a minor then. Why would she do that? If it really would have been her, she would have posted recent pictures. These were leaked by an ex-boyfriend of hers. Hey guys, Thanks for all your great comments. I love a good spirited debate. I did not know that these were taken when Vanessa was underage. That information was not part of the original story when it broke. I have also not found that information in any of the mainstream news stories. So, it's news to me. If that is true, then it would change things and I absolutely don't believe someone would leak photos of that nature if she were only 15 or 16 when they were taken. Keep in mind, I was just playing Devil's Advocate and presenting both sides. I never stated that I believed 100 percent that her people would do something like this, I posed it as a possibility ...and also stated the other side that some scumbag might have done it. My only question now is why when the first statement came down from her people did they not include this information. It would have changed alot of people's minds instantly. Same goes for Vanessa's apology which I thought was very sincere and perfectly appropriate. I think she will be just fine and this will blow over. I implore anyone who is upset with her to give the girl the benefit of the doubt. We all deserve a second chance.

So Vanessa is not the only member of that cast with skeletons in her closet. ALso by the look of the pics, they were taken morel ike 2 or 3 years ago so she probably thought no one would ever see them!

I think the reason that they didn't say the pictures were underage when they released the statements was because first, i doubt they want to give many details just yet and second, they probably believe that by saying she was much younger, they could be giving her a worse reputation. I know this stuff because I am a hardcore fan and we snoop around as much as we can to get facts. The reason I know the pictures were taken a long time ago is simple. Look at the walls in the room. ALL the pictures and posters are from the movie Thunderbirds. If these were recent, those posters would most likely be of High School Musical. Also notice her hair. It hasn't been that color, length or form since before High School Musical 1. The pictures are clearly very old. She had an ex-boyfriend back then who has leaked other pictures of her in the past that can be harmful to her career too. The boy seems keen on ruining her life. I don't know what happened there or why he is so determined to tarnish her reputation, but it is clear that that's his goal.
I hope this has made you realize that there is no way she could have released those herself. She is a great girl and no matter what her management would ever push her to do, this is not something they'd want her to do. This may present opportunities for her, but in all honesty, it's more bad than good. She's always been very clear about her dislike for hollywood and her love for her job. She hates when paparazzi follow her and releasing these pics herself would ensure at least one paparazzi behind her all the time. I know... I keep leaving my opinions but I just can't help myself. I just wanted to say I really feel for Vanessa. We all know what it's like to be young and to think we are in love. This is to Stacy; although Vanessa Hudgens is only 18, she still took inappropriate photos and to prove it, there is pictures all over the internet and magizines. And also, if she admitted and apologized about it, then that means she did do it. 18-year-olds are adults now, and they make their own decisions and capable to think of doing it. And it is too Zac's fault because he is the one who took the photos of her. Its sad that anyone would leak it to the press, but no one should desirve this shame.

This is to Taryn: It is not Zac's fault. These pics were taken before zac was even in the picture before she was 18. In fact new reports say the photos were really intended for Drake Bell. Now personally i do not believe that, but the pictures were definatly taken before hsm was even filmed.

I unfortunately saw the photo, but it seems like it was taken 2 or 3 yrs ago for her then boyfriend. Who knew something from the past would bite her back. It is sick that her past boyfriend, who she took the photo for, would sell it to the press. Maybe its for payback for dumping him for Zac, but that is lower than low just because of it.

I can't believe Vanessa did this. She was my idol. When I found out about the photo I started crying because a lot of young girls loooked up to Vanessa and she left the heartbroken.

I feel bad for her. Like she said it was private. I have 4 daughters and I told them what happen. They agree that in the privacy of your own home it your own business. I tell my girls all the time, nothing is wrong with the nude body. She made the mistake of trusting the wrong person.Those of us over 18 know what it is like to trust the wrong person & it is lesson. She is only 18 & she has many more mistakes ahead of her. People make mistake and the first time a celebrity makes their first mistake. Take a situation where a celebrity drinks after 11 pm or something and has some drive home for them and the driver is not drunk other treat the celebrity as if they should go to jail or be given the chair. Every once in a while in your life, you must make certain choices. If you are musically inclined or can dance, act, play an instrument or want to go into the political arena or anything else of the public nature, you have to think!!!
I think that this young lady should be dropped from her contract.
