Sounding Off On 'The Bachelor' Double Dis and Marie Osmonds Over Exposure
![]()
Before I head off for the week to spend some quality time with the family, I just need to sound off on a couple of topics. I've gotten lots of emails about Marie Osmond surviving to the finale on "Dancing With the Stars" and "The Bachelor's" lame "double dis" outcome.
Apparently, the guy ABC annoyingly called the "sexiest bachelor ever" is really the show's "biggest player ever"! He came off as a real Texas gentleman, but in the end, Bachelor Brad Womack turned out to be a commitment phobic hack, and dumped both Jenni and Deanna.
There is nothing wrong with dating someone, getting to know them and deciding you don't have feelings for them, but Brad sure did leave everyone believing he had feelings for these two girls. As a producer, I know there are always creative ways to edit a show -- but you can't put words in someone's mouth. What's weird is that the guy couldn't even commit to at least continue to date one of the girls after the show. I think the whole concept of meeting 25 people, dating them, dwindling it down to two people and then… BANG… deciding you are going to get engaged… is ridiculous -- but if he liked them as much as he said he did, why not see where it goes with one of them?
I think this quote from "Bachelor" creator Mike Fleiss to Entertainment Weekly says it all about Brad, "The original ending, before the network made me change it, was after the girls were crying we fade down and come back up to a shot of Brad sitting on the couch, remote control in hand, clicking on the game, munching on a submarine sandwich. That's what I wanted at the end. But the network said, 'No.'"
Yup, this guy really does epitomize the word "Bachelor." I could go on and on about this situation, but I'll spare you. I was hoping ABC would have a conference call for reporters to grill Brad, since he didn't really do a great job explaining himself in last night's "After The Final Rose" show. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that's happening -- maybe because of the holiday or maybe because they want to back away from this situation as much as possible. Brad if you read this… give me a call. I've got questions I need answered.
If you read the message boards today, the overwhelming majority of women are angry and feel the show has finally jumped the shark and they refuse to watch it again. ABC is still planning another "Bachelor" for next Fall and a "Bachelorette" for this summer. So, we'll see if they stick to their guns and quit watching.
As for Marie Osmond surviving last night's "DWTS" elimination... let's face it... the woman is going to win it all. She has over 100 relatives, a huge 40 plus female fan base, she's a decent dancer and a great entertainer... so, her scores hold up. Of course, I feel bad for her recent struggles, but I think the novelty of Marie has worn off. She's been everywhere and her brother shilling himself on that other entertainment show has gotten to the point of absurdity. Every single day, it's, "The Osmond's this." and "The Osmond's that." Please. Stop.
I used to root for her and now I can't wait until next week until "DWTS" is done and they go away. Personally, I wanted Sabrina to win.
The Bachelor was indeed a big letdown. I agree with you, he could have continued dating at least one of them.
I can probably live through another Bachelorette. Bachelorettes don't always get it right either, but at least they genuinely seem to want to find someone to spend the rest of their lives.
I couldn't agree with you more about the overexposure of the Osmonds, it's pretty bad and I'm so sick to death of all of them. I can't wait until this current season of DWTS is over as well so they can fade back into obscurity again. So incredibly sick of all the media coverage on them.
I hope Marie does win it all. She's the best and deserves it the most. Go, Marie!
With over 50 years in the entertainment business (40 or so for Donny, Marie and Jay), they deserve all the media attention they want. Shame on you for saying it's obsurd. No more obsurd than the daily rants about Britney running red lights and shopping. Difference is, Marie and her brothers deserve the attention they get for many reason. Brittney doesn't.
I agree with you about Marie. Jennie was a much better dancer as was Sabrina. Anyone that says Marie is as good is delusional. Marie has all the Osmond's voting for her and she isn't that good. I stopped watching for awhile when Sabrina got booted and if Marie wins, I won't watch again. This is a dancing show.
I am so sick of seeing Donny and Marie everywhere.
I agree with your comments about the Osmonds and Marie. What's the deal with Donny on "that other show". Who cares what he thinks??? They're nice people and good entertainers, but come on. Marie keeps making excuses when the judges try to say her techniques not there, etc.. She shouldn't have made it to the finals.
As far as the "other show" .. my gosh they are SOOOOO sickeningly dramatic. I LOVE Access because all the people are genuine and fun!
Okay Miss Saltman & Jen Boo Whooo Whooo get a life
Totally disagree with Osmond bashing! Who cares what Donny thinks? Well, about 5 million fans do. We watch only to see Donny -- and Marie has won us over. More Osmonds = more viewers!
Good gosh, folks this is television why get so emotional over something that in the end doesn't really matter. Oh yeah, my lively hood depends on what Britney, Paris, Nicole or an Osmond are doing - NOT! If you don't like something just don't watch the Osmonds aren't on CSI, Desparate Housewives, Animal Planet there are all these channels and shows and who is twising your arm to watch the shows they are on.
Ultimately, this Dancing with the Stars show is popularity contest. However, I thought one of the other important things was how much the "star" improved week by week. I think the dancing deck was stacked more this season than in past seasons.. Sabrina IS good she SHOULD be she is a professional singer AND dancer..So is Scarey Spice. Marie's "a Little bit country" dancing experience is just that..a little bit! But she has greatly improved over the weeks! I think Maks is the proverbial sour grapes!! His egomania has been evident from seasons past as well. He is a super kiljoy and may be open for slander with some of his totally uncalled for remarks!! He really needs to get over his "professional dancer" self!!! I hope Helio wins tonite..He has improved unbelievably and is a genuine guy who has put forth unbelievable effort as far as I can tell..
Enough already of Marie and Donnie. I am beginning to think the realationship between the two of them is sick. If not for the fainting spell, she would have been off the show weeks ago. Please go away, the sooner the better.
Who cares what Marie Osmond does with her life? I prefer to see her on stage instead of some blonde haired drinking chain smoking bimbo looking for attention. And, the Batchelor was - well, WHO CARES?? If all anyone has time to do is sit and watch TV all night and complain about it all day, now - that's another blog. I prefer my real life.
oh come on- you know you all love all marie's teeth!
JEALOUS PEOPLE CAN ACTUALLY HURT OTHER PEOPLE. PLEASE LEAVE THE OSMONDS ALONE, THEY NEVER SAID ANYTHING BAD ABOUT YOU. PLEASE GET A LIFE.
