'The Bachelor' Reject Sheena Tells All
It horrifies me that I'm still watching this show. At least I'm not alone, though. After the 20 million or so people who catch "Dancing with the Stars," a good 1/2 of those viewers stick around to watch "The Bachelor" in all it's ridiculous glory.
I stopped watching for a few seasons, until I met Andy Baldwin backstage at "DWTS" last season and he promised me he found "the one" and this was the "real deal" and I would not be disappointed. Yeah… We all know how that turned out!
I watch Brad Womack's edition not because he is "the sexiest bachelor ever" (as ABC's lame promos always tout) but because he reminds me of a boyfriend I had from college. If I close my eyes and listen to his southern drawl coupled with his very Eddie Haskell like manners, they are like the same person.
This morning I spoke to Sheena Stewart, the 23-year-old blonde cutie from Walnut Creek, California who was this week's rejected bachelorette. Sheena was the girl who famously slipped on the staircase before a date with Brad, which they aired repeatedly in promos for the show.
It was her poor mother though, who found herself smack in the middle of reality show ridicule this week when they portrayed her as an astrology-obsessed kook who already had her daughter married off to Brad as "the one."
Needless to say, Sheena didn’t hold back when I asked her if she was upset by the bizarre portrayal of her mother, "The answer to that would be, 'Yes.'"
Sheena chalks her mom's behavior to creative editing and it being a long day that started early and ended very late, "We were on the Sacramento river. We went back to my house. We had a sunset BBQ. We were flipping steaks. My dad was teaching Brad how to open up beer bottles with his wedding rings. We were dancing in the backyard. So we had a really fantastic hometown date and Brad knows that and so unfortunately you didn’t get to see a lot of that."
As for being rejected at the rose ceremony, Sheena told me she was truly shocked, based on Brad's behavior while on their hometown date. "He made a couple of comments to both me and my family like, 'I cant wait for you to meet my mother. You get along so well. Chad [my twin brother] was singing your praises. I just can’t wait for you to meet my family.'"
The finale airs November 19th and Sheena believes Jenni, the Texas cheerleader, will come out on top, "I think that all the women are really amazing women but that one that stands out, I just think Jenni might make him the happiest. She’s kindhearted. She’s got a great spirit you know she took care of a lot of the girls in the house and he had mentioned before that he had dated a cheerleader. And you could see the chemistry between them."
We Loved Sheena! I thought she was going to be "THE ONE"!!! Maybe she can be the next Bachorete??? Maybe?
Hey Laura! I am horrified that I watch the show, too, but it is like a bad car accident that you just have to see what happens!
After watching Brad Womack lead two women on and reject them I have lost total respect for what I thought was a nice guy. Its obvious this man has issues and these women are better without him.
After being hooked on the bachelor program for many seasons, I probably will never watch it again.
