Super Bowl Blog: Live From The Maxim Party Red Carpet
As our Super Bowl XLII coverage continues, Access Hollywood is live on the scene from the Maxim Super Bowl party at the luxurious Scottsdale Princess resort. Dubbed by some of the stars as “THE” party to be at on Super Bowl weekend, here’s a live breakdown of all the action on the red carpet…
8:30PM – Before we hit the red carpet, Access Hollywood goes inside the party for an exclusive sitdown with Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, as we put the “Hills” couple through one of our “Couples Uncensored” interviews, allowing the lovebirds to grill each other. Heidi looks more than red carpet-ready in a sexy blue mini dress, while Spencer is looking very dapper, decked out in a suave suit.
As the two arrive for the interview, Spencer is boasting a boom box on his shoulder that is playing Heidi’s new single.
Wonder if the boom box could make a fashion comeback???
OK, now onto the action from the red carpet!
9:52PM – Our first star of the night has arrived, and it’s… drum roll please…
David Spade.
The comedian hits the red carpet and (just like last night when we saw him at Nick Lachey’s party at Axis/Radius… and frankly, like just about every other time we’ve seen him) he’s rockin’ the baseball cap. David quickly makes his way down the press line, does a quick interview with Covino and Rich Show on Maxim radio and heads into the party.
Who will be the next star to come keep David company? We wait anxiously to find out…
10:12PM – It’s a good thing “E” isn’t inside, because everyone’s favorite cantankerous director Billy Walsh (aka Rhys Coiro) from “Entourage” has arrived. And who is Rhys picking to win in the big game on Sunday…
He won’t say.
That’s no fun. We'll let him off the hook since we’re huge “Queen’s Boulevard” and “Medellin” fans.
10:16PM – NFL legend John Elway arrives and the sports fans lining the red carpet have something to cheer about. Mr. Elway certainly knows a thing or two about Super Bowls… he won two rings with the Denver Broncos in the ‘90s.
10:19PM – Most may know him as a resident of “Beverly Hills 90210” but as a New Jersey native, Ian Ziering is a huge New York Giants fan. He’ll be at the big game on Sunday, as he told AccessHollywood.com on the red carpet. Ian described the pre-game festivities as complete “pandemonium”… and there’s still two days to go!
10:22PM – Adding to the “Entourage” entourage is Kevin Dillon – while it remains to be seen who will take home the title on Sunday, Johnny Drama knows a thing or two about VICTORY!
10:45PM – Ok, this red carpet has been heating up, but now we’re talking some serious star power – I mean, legendary… Mr. Tom Petty (followed by the night’s biggest entourage by far) storms the red carpet. The rock n’ roll legend apparently wasn’t in a talking mood, as he quickly made his way into the party. I guess you could call him a red carpet “Heartbreaker.”
11:00PM – A double dose of red carpet beauty as Cindy Crawford (with husband Rande Gerber) and Stacey Keibler grace the red carpet. Cindy tells Access she won’t be at the game on Sunday, opting instead to head home and be with her kids. Not so for Rande, who is hoping for a win by the Giants. Rande also has another reason to be on the red carpet tonight… the Maxim party is being held at the Stone Rose Lounge inside the Princess Resort. Rande owns the Stone Rose.
11:12PM – All of a sudden the red carpet has been turned into a wrestling ring as Michael Clarke Duncan tackles Tom Arnold as the flashbulbs pop capturing the action. Let’s keep it friendly here boys, keep it friendly. For the record, my money is on Michael any day.
11:20PM – The always-stunning Maria Menounos hits the red carpet in a gorgeous pink mini dress. After making her way down the red carpet, and even being kind enough to stop for a photo for yours truly, Maria does an interview with the Maxim radio guys. And in what was easily the oddest pairing of the night, Christopher Mintz-Plasse (who you may know better by a different name – McLovin!!!) joins in on the interview. As he and Maria stand next to each other doing the interview, chants of “show us your game” comes from the crowd of fans gathered on the opposite side of the barrier. Classic.
11:46PM – A whole lotta flash bulbs are popping at the beginning of the red carpet as Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo arrive hand-in-hand. They pose together for photographers and then solo. We hope Nick has been getting his rest because this is three nights in a row now that he’s been out at the same place we’re at. It’s a good thing he’s young.
12:10AM (Saturday) – After many of the TV crews and photographers have left, all of a sudden there is quite a stir among those still in attendance. Kim Kardashian arrives really fashionably late (whether it’s really fashionable or just really late is up for debate). She poses on the red carpet for the few photographers left with her sisters as her man Reggie Bush stands off to the side. When Kim heads back over to Reggie, the photographers hop the red carpet barrier to get a closer shot of the lovebirds.
12:15AM – Time to wrap it up. The stars are being ushered inside the venue where a performance by Akon and T.Payne awaits. There was a lot of hype surrounding the Maxim party… and the stars came out in full force to deliver!
It’s also worth mentioning that stars including Diddy and Ryan Seacrest also showed up, but only posed for photos at the beginning of the red carpet and didn’t make it down my way. Drats.
Tomorrow’s Playboy and Victoria’s Secret parties better bring their A-game. The bar for this year’s Super Bowl parties has officially been set!
