The No Air Time Curse Strikes Again

The curse of no airtime strikes again for three out of the four contestants voted out of “American Idol” tonight. Though I didn’t agree with the two choices for the boys, I think when Garrett Haley re-sang his song “Breaking Up Is Hard To Do,” he proved why he was voted out. To borrow a phrase from Randy Jackson, "dude that was awful!"

Same goes for Amy Davis who re-mangled "Where The Boys Are." Why do they make them re-sing when they get voted off? Is this so they are not the only one feeling tortured? The audience has to re-listen to this mess?

Ok, back to my original point, which was that, if you get no airtime during the audition shows you are pretty much sunk. Amy, Garrett and Colton proved that theory tonight. The guys had it rough because there were four of them with no airtime (including Luke Menard and Jason Yaeger).

The girls faired much better this season with just one of them not being shown… and that of course was Amy.

You really have to knock it out of the park when you are airtime challenged and these Top 24 contestants are now savvy enough to know that. I thought Colton actually did enough to keep him on, so this one shocked me. Maybe he was a victim of Kyle Ensley backlash since Colton was chosen as the last Top 12 guy over Kyle.

Maybe I’m just cranky because I actually got put on a jury today, but if I hear them say one more time that this is the most talented Top 24 ever, I’m going to smack someone. I think this week’s show proved that to be completely untrue. If I was one of the contestants from prior seasons I would be insulted.

Maybe America should be choosing the contestants from the get go, not when we have 24 people of their choosing shoved down our throats.

I also think its insulting that on a show that is a singing competition they would air a music video of someone who wasn’t exactly singing. Why not come out and sing the song yourself, not lip-synch like at the Super Bowl? I think we can all figure out why.

Except that Amy was featured in the "Hollywood or Bust" episode, the same episode on which we saw Joanne Borgella's audition. She was featured and we saw her entire audition....

Alaina, Jason C., and Alexandrea didn't get airtime but still shined so performance did in the four who got the boot.

Come on!!!! They can't all win. Someone has to go home or there is no show. Garrett stunk Laura and as for the rest, they just were not good enough!!
