'Dancing' 'Idol' 'Loser'
Well, if that title doesn't tell you what I did last night then I guess you don't watch much TV. After tuning out all TV last week while at Fitness Ridge, it was strange to go back and watch back to back reality shows. One week away and I already lost my prime ticket to the Idol taping and had to watch the show from home on television. The best part about it was being able to get up during the commercials! I will be there tonight for Dolly Parton though.
I won't bore you with a recap of last night's "Idol" performances -- instead I'll just muse on a few things that stuck out to me.
# 1 - Why does Randy Jackson start every single critique with "Yo, so check it out?"
# 2 - # 2 - Who else thinks David Cook could be this year's winner? His was the only performance that made me stop paying bills, look up and pay attention to the whole performance. It's such a strange season though. In the past I've been able to pick from the night of the Top 12 party who I think will win. Jordin Sparks, Taylor Hicks, Carrie Underwood were just givens to me. This season it's more difficult to decide. I hope David doesn't fall under the Daughtry curse and get ousted during the top 4 week. Having said that though, how many albums has Daughtry sold compared to Taylor Hicks?!
# 3 - Ramiele Malubay is so tiny she makes Ryan Seacrest look like a giant and that's VERY hard to do.
# 4 - It's time for new wardrobe stylists this season. I nearly fell off the couch when Simon said to Carly, "I also think Carly you have got to have a word with whoever is dressing you at the moment." I had literally just turned to my boyfriend prior to that and said "they need to fire the stylists this year." Not one single contestant has really morphed into looking like a star. The hair is terrible, the clothes are lost in the 80's and even the makeup isn't wowing me. Perfect example: Kristy Lee Cook. She is such a beautiful girl with massive potential yet every week she looks washed out. They need to make her a brunette and really change it up.
# 5 - Did anyone else catch the looks on the faces of the young teenage girls standing in the front row during David Archuleta's performance? They were in awe. It was pretty funny to watch.
# 6 - Why on earth would Syesha choose to sing "I Will Always Love You"? How many times have we heard that mangled in the audition shows. There is no one who can sing it like Whitney Houston. So, why try?
I also caught the first ten minutes of the "Dancing With the Stars" results show. That 'Mango Tango' between Steve Guttenberg and Johnathan Roberts was priceless! So, funny when they fell on the floor at the end. What a lost opportunity for a great joke when they cut back to Tom Bergeron and Samantha Harris. No reaction whatsoever. Waste of a moment.
That's when I switched over to the much more satisfying "Biggest Loser." This show has become my favorite new reality show. After my week at Fitness Ridge I totally get why they are always in tears at the end of a challenge or a weigh in. It's not only an accomplishment physically for them but emotionally to be able to challenge yourself and make it through is incredible. We are such an out of shape & overweight nation, I wish everyone would tune into this show at least once and get inspired to change.
