I thought this was a great interview. It really hit home there isn't anything elitiist about this family. Just a down-to-earth family that has the same values as many of us Americans. The only difference is Barack & Michelle are in a position to help get our country back on track economically and regain respect for our country from around the world. It's too bad the Obamas won't do another up and close interview like this one again.

This was a WONDERFUL interview! Maria Menounos was fantastic. She was sooo wonderful with the children. I consider it one of the best interviews of this entire election process. The girls, the entire family is so delightful to watch and what a phenomenal chance to get to know them better..
They were honest open , non- pretentious.
I am proud to know that they may one day be the first family.
I think you guys got the "SCOOP" of the day.
Congrats!!!

It was fantastic to finally get a full view of who the Obamas are. I really feel like I got to know them better. It would have been inappropriate to ask any more hard-hitting questions with the young girls around, but it was smart of him to put them out there. Maria struck the perfect balance as an interviewer. Keep up the great work!

I thought it was a refreshing change of pace. It's great to get to see the human side of Barack and his family. While the hard hitting questions are certainly important in certain contexts, what Access and Maria did was totally fun! Kudos all around!

How was it ok for Chelsea and Bill to help Hillary, but people want to crucify Obama for including his family--come on. We have the right to see his family, many things can be judged by how a family gets along--yes his girls are young, but his patience with his chidlren is something that needs to be seen across the country--a lesson for other parents!

Lovely family! I would vote for the whole package, just on the basis of the interview!

The naysayers out there need to calm down and start focusing on what's really important here! Seeing Obama and his family together with that sweet little Maria only reminds us how important it is to have a compassionate, down-to-earth person in the White House. I can't wait to see more with them. PS…my family and I watch your show every night and when I can- I sneak on your website at work!

I do not blame him for not wanting to do this again but this was a great interview and showed a human side to the family. Once is enough though.

I don't care for Barack Obama and won't vote for him because I still don't know what he stands for. But, this was a fantastic interview! It shows a high degree of confidence to let your kids go live with an interviewer because as we all know, "kids say the darndest things". It makes me wonder what Bill and Hillary were so afraid of by not letting Chelsea speak then or now!

Did Obama really say in his book he would "Stand with the Muslims"? Well? Did he use drug? Alot of them? I am looking at casting my vote for the next President of the United States. I want all the facts not some blather covering them up. Both McCain and Obama should do some real inteviews about what they have done in their lives that quailfies them to be our next President.

I thought it was one of the best moments of either the Democratic or Republican campaigns. The Obamas are a real family. They are nice people. They are people that you'd enjoy having for neighbors. The interviewer did a terrific job by simply allowing the Obamas to just be a family. It reinforced my position that the Obamas will make a wonderful First Family.

Romeo at Orlando said:

Excellent. It just happened organically and Maria, my favorite, deserves all the credit for building a rapport with the girls to the point that they walked into the interview on their own. BTW, congratulations to the Obama's for a fabulous family. They deserve the White House.

SukieTawdry said:

Is this a preview of Obama's governing style, impetuously doing something you said you wouldn't do and then regretting going it within 24 hours? Swell.

Regina said:

I thought it was a good interview. It gave viewers who are unsure about Obama a chance to see what his family life is like.

I read on MSNBC that he called the interview a mistake on the "Today Show". I'm not sure what he thinks the mistake is but letting voters see a glimpse of who he is should be something that he would want to do for those who are unsure who to vote for.

Bev said:

I thought the Obama's were wonderful and Maria did a great job. It is too bad that some will use what was a genuine and touching encounter to criticize and politicize this sweet view of their family so that he is forced to regret that. I hope the press will continue to honor Barack and Michelle's requests that the girls stay out of the spotlight unless the parents have good control of the dynamics involved. What a wonderful first family they will make!

It was such a sweet, touching interview showing a very warm, loving family.
This is something anybody can relate to.
It is unfortunate that Obama has apparently said "never again" because of the carping among a few who probably weren't for him politically anyway. As a result we will miss out on an immensely valuable asset. I hope he may reconsider for least once in a while but we all must respect his decision of course.

I thought this interview was awesome! Seeing a family that obviously is close and seriously "down home" is always a pleasure. I am from montana and didnt get to see them in butte, unfortunately. But seeing how real they are, well its refreshing to say the least! I do feel bad that he is choosing not to allow his children and family another interview, but I would imagine that as a father who doesnt want his children in a position to be picked apart in the press...well i can certainly understand that. We all protect our children at any cost, understandably! I would like to thank him and his family for the moments shared here in montana and with the families here. It has truely been wonderful knowing that he cares about what happens up here in our little neck of the woods (and prairies!!haha)

Sam said:

The interview was good. I question his real position on everything. I still want to know what qualifies him to be our President. Has anyone (including McCain) ever explained, in detail, just how they would go about making these changes they refer to all the time? It is one thing to say you will change this or that, but we as Americans want to know "how". Isn't it true that the President has to present to Congress his proposals and Congress has to pass them before they can be changed? What happens if Congress doesn't approve them? We are back in the same boat we are now!! If you ask us every politition is always full of promises they can't or don't keep. It is history!!

O, He comes off so humble and not as seeing himself akin to Christ or more down to earth maybe Abraham Lincoln. This retard is being set up. Obama will be the next excuse for why unemployments soars, jobs are outsourced, poor children dieing in the 3rd world. Eventually, people will be saying now you blacks have no excuse. "The Man" is black and he's screwing this country. Are we all forgetting we have a legislative, executive, and judicial branch- does Obama plan to overturn the system of checks and balances too?Change WHAT YOU BROKEN RADIO! WE ARE A REPUBLIC NOT A DEMOCRACY PEOPLE!! A nation for the people not of the president. I am neither Republican or Democrat before you think I sway one way or the other. I vote Christ and a return to the God found foundation this country was built on. Obama will just be the next excuse why everything is messed up.People are just looking for an excuse to not take personally responsibility and he is taking it, hook, line and sinker. This interview just shows how he is already putting himself in the Christ position without staying humble like he tries to come off as. Some many people are getting carried away by the allure of having a black president. Since when did race constitute intelligence. No one really thinks that our economy could be much worse, gas could be much higher. But they choose not to look at factors and really what he says which make him presidential material.I would not want Obama to lead my dog to the restroom much less my country. RACE DOES NOT CONSTITUTE INTELLIGENCE AND THE ABILITY TO LEAD THE COUNTRY.

Is it possible that we just saw a presidential candidate who can be a normal guy?

Stay tuned because there will always be naysayers, but I think that this just may be the normal way the Obama family get on in life...WHICH IS GREAT!

This was a great interview. Something that the American people needed to see. Most folks are still foreign to the Obamas and this was a beautiful introduction or continuation of a story for some.

For Obama to call this a mistake is sickening. This man has been going down down in my book for months. That is why as of 2 months ago I have withdraw my full support from his campaign. He needs to walk what he talks. Make the tough decisions..stick by your decisions even when they become un popular. The only un popular thing he has stuck by is voting for the FISA bill when majority of supporters are against it. This man will listen to our concerns and still do what he wants to do.

This was a golden moment in the campaign and he is calling it a mistake. He needs to re find that person we met back in Springfield, Ill because this new person is a distortion of what he sold us back than.

ABC said:

Obama gets more media exposure. First he has a forum as inappropriate as "Access Hollywood" conduct an interview with his family, then he has an interview with Matt Lauer on NBC to say he "made a mistake." All very calculated.

I and a few others who kicked this interview around. I admit we have not seen it in it's entire form as of yet. We found the comments by the interviewer totally retarded. The Obama's have body parts, smiles, a home, bills, kids. What is this someone has to show that they are a normal family. Then it comes down to what is a normal family and by who's standard do we judge. So they may not look like you, talk like you, your neighbor probably doesn't either. I just hope he doesn't turn into the fake flag waving patriot that is so common in this country now.

The man is still a virtual unknown. I care more about his lack of experience in governing not just voting liberally. Who is he really? I cannot trust him. Will not vote for him. His girls are cute. All little girls are sweet and cute. It appeared to be for the camera if you ask me. I'll vote for the man with experience in these very challenging times not for one whose little girls are cute. Come on people engage those brains! Stop buying into the celebrity and the charm and the promises. What is there to back them up in his history? Not much. Do your homework! He's scarey because he says ALL the right things. Just talk. Nothing to back it up with so far.

The interview is a welcome respite from all the political news I hear and see. It is just sad that in politics, sinister motive is always attributed to anything said or done.

If he had hustled his kids away from the interviewer he would be accused of being elitist, etc. It's not claculated. It's just that nothing is EVER right in this media or politics. It was a mistake. The interview was empty and meaningless. It portrayed the family as just average at best and did not impress me at all. I was expecting to see a bright young family and saw a dull boring home movie. None of the family were verbally articulate and sorry to say it showed. Makes me wonder what we would be getting if Obama gets the nomination.

I thought it was a great interview. I really liked the fact that it showed that they were normal people like the rest of us that just wanted to enjoy their quality time with family and friends. Their children are very important to them and that says a lot. I am still unsure of my vote but I did really like seeing them in this atmosphere to see that they are not just a presidential candidate family, but are normal americans. It was refreshing. Don't regret your interview...it has been very nice thus far.

It was GREAT! Was a wonderful, loving family and it didn't come off as staged or calculated at all.

I think people make too much of things like this. For those who have such a problem with him allowing his kids on TV, did it ever occur to you that the children may have wanted to? I know I would have loved to be on TV for my birthday! The only thing Mr. Obama really regrets is the public reaction to him having the kids on TV. It was a wonderful interview and he shouldn't have to explain every blasted detail of his life or have some sort of public-created rules to govern his family life. Get over it.

Rick said:

This guy is a complete joke! He has not said what he is for or against without contradicting himself a day or two later. He has not said how he is going to improve things except he wants to raise a ton of taxes/ and now he is exploiting his family (which he said he'd keep private) just to get the people's votes... well now he realizes he is being criticized and he is saying he wished he never did that now as well. What do people see in this guy? Why can't they see behind the mask?

Brenda said:

I loved it. I thought it was great. It showed the realness of a family. My husband and I having raised 4 children, know how spontaneous kids can be. It was wonderful to see an unscripted interview after almost 8 yrs of scripted interviews with Bush.

Obama plays well in Peoria, Illinois.
God Bless you and your family.

Give me a break. Obama knew exactly what he was doing. He knew what the stakes were, going into the interview. He's a very intelligent man so there's no way he could not have known he and his family would be crucified by certain people on the right wing. I don't buy it for a minute.

Margaret Richman said:

It is so refreshing to see a young politician and his family just being natural and unstaged. I loved the interviews and see nothing at all inappropriate about them. They gave us an opportunity to share a bit of their lives. It is obvious this is a family that is filled with love, good strong values and can be held as an example to others in this country. What is inappropriate about that?

I didn't feel as if Obama was using his family but rather sharing them with us. I'm a Obama supporter but now feel even stronger in my views that we have the right man to lead our country--a man with brains, compaasion, new ideas, strong ideals and love of family, home and country.

Thumbs up to the interview and please, Mr. Obama, don't for a minute think you made a mistake allowing the interviews.

It was a WONDERFUL interview! The parents can be so proud of their daughters for being so polite, respectful, and yet, utterly honest. It was delightful to meet this family and see how "family values" shaped their daughters' young lives. It was obvious that this was not rehearsed and I found the spontaneity most enjoyable as a "normal, typical American family". Certainly dispels any notions of their being "elitist". I have no idea why Barack says that he 'regrets" the interview for he has nothing to regret as far as I can tell but he has much to be proud of in his wife and daughters.

What a wonderful interview. AT LAST, I finally can get a glimpse of the personal side of Barack Obama.

With that said, I'm perplexed to hear Obama say it was a mistake to allow his children to be in the interview - and that he wouldn't do it again. WHY? Who, or what, are you afraid of Obama??

I can't imagine anyone letting a few political nuts tell someone that they shouldn't have allowed the country to see their children in such an innocent and refreshing way. Barack jumped the gun by denouncing the interview. He should have said "this is MY family and they are more important than the presidency."

Joe Demo said:

(This quote being from the article)...“I think that we got carried away in the moment,” the Illinois senator and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee told TODAY’s Matt Laueris. Is this going to be the way he conducts his business in The White House. There are a lot a situations in making decisions when you are the President of the United States of America, which brings me to a thaught of, is he going to make decisions like that if he is elected. Getting "carried away in the moment" which sounds like he is making an exuse of why it was wrong, for him, to do this interview. I thaught it was a great interview and liked it very much but why is Barack thinking it was a mistake. He also is quoted saying, “We were having a birthday party, and everybody was laughing. And suddenly this thing cropped up. I didn’t catch it quickly enough. I was surprised by the attention it received.” The... "I didn't catch it quickly enough" troubles me about his decision making. If this is just a birtday party interview how will he react to a nuclear bomb coming from North Karea or Iran, or any other crissis for that matter. I will still vote for him because I feel we need to get ANYONE other than a Republican as our President.

I thought it was a great interview. The older daughter is very bright for her age. I don't see what the problem is for the public to get to know the future first family. McCain has had his family on the campain trail for over a year now. Barack just showed that he has a normal family. McCain's family comes off as coming from a family of privilage, not the normal american family. People may not be able to relate to them as they do the Obama's.

The warmth of the soon to be first family came across. The Obama children are just like any one else's kids. They look at their mom and dad just like any kids do. You can see that they all miss each other and this was just something that "happened" and was a joy for all of us to witness. Why does Obama always seem to be apologizing and "learning from his mistakes"? It seems to me like this guy is acting like an amateur who isn't ready to take the reigns of this country. Why aren't the two candidates debating? We want to hear how they are going to tackle the real issues. Don't get me wrong, the interview was entertaining, but I'm not going to vote for Obama simply because of his family. The media wants to portray Obama as a model citizen, sex symbol (magazine covers, etc.), and this carismatic speaker that can woo voters. I still don't know how he can make this country better. Then again, people here voted for Arnold S. So anything is possible in this country.

How fortunate we are to have a presidential candate that can show flexibility on positions. Only a stupid person will hold rigig stands to all positions, refusing to review issues and or positions, refusing to become cognizant of daily circumstances that might require change, refusing to say, lets step back and take another look.

This is also expected of parents and what is expected on a daily basis. Some things, such as principals, values, or ethics never change. However, positions on circumstances dictated by daily events can be altered. The ability to be able to say, lets step back, review the circumstances and take anoter look. These are the actions of a wise man.

Since the media and critics cannot come up with substantive issues to attack the Obamas on, they have to attack the honesty that comes with flexibility and turn flexibility into a negative.

Look at where inflexibility has gotten us with the Chaney Bush era. Thanks be for the crack in the window for change.

I believe Obama has made a point of mentioning his superior judgment from time to time, perhaps we should consider he might have had other reasons for his opposition to the Iraq war other than his judgment of the conflict. Perhaps it was a simple as the Senator he was opposing (before he withdrew) was for the war and therefore to draw a better contrast he should line up against it, pure political calculation and nothing more. It seems judgment about exposing your child to the media and therefore your political foes should have been an easy call, but he blew it!

This does show the "family" side of Obama. I understand his regrets about letting his children on it because now that they are in the public eye what is going to stop the hard hitting right wing nuts to go after these girls for answers and the tabloids to get photos to doctor and make them look bad. Obama can handle them pushing him around but when it comes to his children he is a father first and if it were me in his shoes I would be hard pressed not to go after someone who exploited and abused my children in photos or verbally. He wants to keep his children out of the bashing spotlight that it seems all right wing nuts seem to stoop to.

I thought it was a great interview. I did not feel it was used to score points etc. The interview showed the human side of Barack and Michelle, and the girls are delightful.
It is a shame that we have been reduced to “every interview- word or deed seen as having an ulterior motive".

I think that Mr. Obama is being a little too protective by saying he shouldn't have allowed his kids to do the interview. He has a beautiful family and should be proud of it and it's what the American public needs to see these days. To me, strong family ties make for a stronger candidate. I saw no stress in any of the faces and they seemed to be having a very good time. It was a pleasure seeing the media doing something positive for a Presidential candidate for a change. Relax, Obama, it's all good. By the way, my birthday was July 3.

Aaagh! Every presidential candidate's family has a real side to them. It's easy to misconstrue every word from a taped interview...and the exact placement of each word...within a conversation.
Barack Obama is a young, intelligent and energetic presidential candidate. I think his family will keep him grounded so that he knows that their future (and the future for all kids) will hopefully be a better one!
I have no doubt, if given the opportunity, that he will act in the very best interest of this great country!

I thought it was great to see the very personal side of these folks. Personally, I loved the interview, I felt it made the Senator look real and humble. The interview showed a close, down to earth family, it represented traditional American family values , what this country believes in and holds dear.
As a strong Obama supporter I was disappointed to hear the Senator say that the interview was a mistake. Senator Obama should not have regretted doing such an interview, because it allowed Americans to become more familiar with the Senator. For quite some time now, Senator Obama has been labeled by the media as the " unknown outsider " but Access Hollywood showed that the Senator is actually just like you and me. Senator Obama should ignore the negative comments. The naysayers probably are the "Rush Limbaugh's " of the country who wouldn't vote Democrat anyway.

I don't think the interview hurt him at all. His wife and his children are well spoken and attractive. If Barrack feels a need to publicly separate himself from anyone it would have to be Billary. The lady's a train wreck. A month ago she was telling the country how bad he was going to be for Americans, this month she's backing him up. I'm not voting for the guy anyway, I don't think he's the right guy for the job during a time of war. I wonder how well the country would have turned out at the end of WW2 had a person like Barrack (ie, anti-war) made it into the white house rather than Harry Truman. Sianara, Amelicans

Great interview or not, lets look at what the Senator has said about his family. He's clearly stated on more than occassion that he wants to leave his private life out of the campain. Well, looks like he's trying to have it both ways with this interview. While it seems innocuous enough, it just goes to show that he will say what's needed to get him elected. Also, now he's stating that it was a mistake to do the interview and that it was rather spur-of-the-moment. Well, if he can't make good decisions regarding his family (meaning a decision that flies in the face of his own statements) how in the WORLD can anyone believe that he'll have their best interests in mind if he's elected?
Who's to say that he's not going to get caught up in the moment about something and make a terrible mistake regarding our economy, health care, or children's rights?

I thought the interview was great. His older daughter showed how well brought up she is when she spoke about important people and looked at her mother and said "no disrespect".

I agree with his decision not to do it again. But once said it all. You only get one chance to make a first impression--and it was a great first impression.

What a delightful and beautiful family! However, I understand Senator Obama's concern as a father to need to protect his daughters from the media, yet how delightful to know that this part of his life is solid and loving. If he and Michelle have been able to raise such sweet girls with their busy lives so far, then I rest assured knowing they will be able to do a good job as "First Family".

I've always believed that Senator Obama is a wonderful man but to see this side of his life is "normal" makes me joyous that he would be making some excellent decisions as President to ensure that his daughters' futures would be bright.

I think the interview showed that Obama is just like any politician,he will do or say anything to win. If having his children on TV will help his campaign he will do it. If he gets critized he will say it was a mistake, just like any politician. Someone mentioned what is the difference when Hillary had Chelsea out campaigning. Chelsea is an adult. The Clintons did everything they could when she was young to protect her from the press. The right thing to do. Using your children for political gain is wrong and there was no other reason for the interview. Obama's lack of judgment is why I will be voting for McCain in the fall.

I'm puzzled as to why Barack Obama now regrets the family interview?. When I first saw the footage my reaction was, "Wow, what well-spoken young ladies and what a nice family". It was a true breath of fresh air to see an honest interview conducted in the spirit of a family outing. The interview itself seemed very spontaneous and not at all scripted for the medias sake. This gave us all a peek into the lighter side of the Obamas. There is no need to feel that the coverage was blown out of proportion - the American public IS interested and curious about them. Fear not Senator Obama, the interview was fantastic and your girls were delightful!!

I avoid watching such dog-n-pony fluff stuff. I doubt his kids did him any harm at all, though. What can a 10 and 7 year old say that could hurt you anyway? You may all titter behind raised hands for a few seconds now. That's long enough. This can all be catagorized with one word: STUPID.

I'm trying to figure out what the fuss is all about over this interview. I thought this was a lovely interview. His girls are very well adjusted and still little girls. They handled it with aplomb and there is absolutely nothing that the Obama family should be ashamed of. It was done very respectfully and with tact and the comment from his daughter about her father not liking sweets was great. They are a great family, perhaps what most families aspire to be. I, for one, can't imagine the McCain family being as forthright as this family was. Well done Obama family and Access Hollywood.

It was the most refreshing interview I have ever seen. This nation needs a President, that is a great Father, Husband and Leader. If you can't spend minutes in front of a camera with your kids at that age especially and people don't get a real sense of what kind of parents/people you really are, I don't know of a better reality check. Scripted speeches on tellipromter, that's the honest approach. The girls were darlings as we all expected them to be. The interviewer was perfect and shows she knows people. Once was all we needed to see the truth about Senator Obama and his beautiful wife and kids. They are beautiful on the inside and well as the outside.

Nice interview, but lets not forget all this man stands for. He will use and denounce anything that will get in his way to be President. Let's also not forget about the great paper his wife wrote in college on how bad the United States is. Also, remember Obama's (Osama) quote, "The United States is the greatest country in the world, now lets Change it." I'm sorry, nice family, but everything he does seems to be focused to get him in the WhiteHouse. Typical politician. I'm not saying I like McCain either. I'd like a President who can relate to the majority of the population. One that isn't wealthy like all the past Presidents and those running every four years. Until that day, how can these politicians make decisions for the majority of the population.

I loved this interview! This family is so refreshing to get to know. I have to say that I love those "Obama Girls," but I think that I understand Obama's concerns for them with respect to potential media exploitation, right-wing smears of the little girls personally and/or security risk exposure. This was not a campaign event, it was family time and Maria provided us with a wonderful opportunity to meet the potential next first family. Great job.

I think that for the naysayers Obama could literally walk on water and they would criticize him for having wet feet! For those who never would have voted for him in any case, there is nothing he can do right or that they won't criticize. The nastiness and vitriol is exactly why Obama regrets the exposure of his girls on TV. Too bad our Nation is so sick that that is concern. God bless the Obama family and protect them from the nutcases. I will definitely vote for this man on November 4th!

I don't understand why anyone is judging Obama about an interview with his family. I can't turn on a t.v. without hearing about the state of McCain's wife's hairstyles! I just can't imagine his daughters getting caught drinking under age! They feel (not seem!) real, genuine, and down to earth - where i feel our President belongs! God bless and please no apologies about the interview Obama, just keep doing what you are doing. As far as McCain's family, his wife comes across as a stiff snob who's hiding something. There is no warmth to her (or him for that matter!). Doesn't it seem fair to want a President that you feel like you could relate to? Who you could have a conversation with and not feel like he thinks he's better than you because he has money? Obama feels like FDR, a president for all the American people - not just the 1% er's!

The Obama girls seem like delightful, normal kids. I'm disappointed that, once again, Obama is seemingly crying "fowl" and trying to back pedal on this one. If he can't control the circumstances surrounding his young daughters, how "in control" will be as the leader of the western world? I hate to say it because, initially, I was a supporter, but the arrogance of this man seems to be coming forward more and more. Why shouldn't this interview be viewed as a chance for the American public to meet and see that the Obama family is a real, true, down-to-earth family who might possibly become America's 1st Family. The interview showed that they respect each other, love one another, and have fun with each other. Why is that so bad or wrong? I just don't understand what prompts some people to make such unjust and unnecessary judgements and comments.

I must admit, I haven't seen the interview. That said, this comment is merely a reflection on the comments in this thread prior to mine...

I am of the opinion that Obama had every right to give the interview. Likewise, he has every right to say he would rather not do another one. The interview should have very little bearing on whether someone votes his direction or not; instead, one might consider voting for the candidate they feel can best represent our country.

For those that aren't sure where Obama stands on certain issues, by golly, do some research if you are that interested. Don't watch Access Hollywood to decide how to vote...

Just my two cents. Thanks for reading.

We are sick society where that is not just a farfetched fear, but a real possibility. The interview was wonderful. The fact that the man has a family and allowed that family to be interviewed has nothing at all to do with the upcoming election. I'm glad he's got a great family. I wish for once the media would focus on issues relevant to the candidates' respective philosophies on government rather than personal matters that no one should care about anyway.

You're being discriminatory. Yes, I said discriminatory. Just because some one thinks differently than do you doesn't mean that they have less rights than do you.
This blog asked for an opinion. We all have a right to speak what we feel. Just because someone is of a different mind than you, doesn't make them less entitled to the rights that you enjoy. It was a great interview and as I was watching it, although I had so much respect and admiration for the Obama family, it was the reporter, Maria, who touched me the most. The way she connected with the family felt "real' and "nice." With so much negative publicity today, and the reporters going for the juglar so often, it was good to see a warm and caring interview.

I was sorry to see the turn of events. It felt like a positive part of the election process was stipped away once again and instead turned negative. Also, it really made me wonder if this is the way he will handle other things. A little negative comes along and he retreats. What happens when it's something important that involves us and our safety. A little bad press comes along and he runs. Such a shame.

Bottom line though was the interview rocked!

Don't hate me but please understand this,

Ok that was nice and everything but the country needs to focus on itself for a long period of time. To me this just seemed to be another political move to see the nice side of his family. Yes, we do need to know they are normal people with a sweet family but it doesn't change the fact that our country has gone down hill since Bill Clinton. What would have been nice is to have an interview just with Mr. Obama about his personal views on problems our country has and what can be done about them. For example:

1) American companies moving out of the US?
2) Why are gas prices killing the hard working middle and low class people?
3) Why does it seem the American government is worried more about other countries feeding, rebuilding and protecting them rather than feeding and protecting it's own people. In my eyes we spend way too much in other countries. Hmmm Blow it up and fix it? PPPFFFTTTTT look at when we dropped the three A bombs. They had to rebuild themseleves. Let Iraq do the same.
Not to pick on Canada but they leave everyone alone and survive by being a neutral nation, no one hates them. They have national health care without the debt we have.
4) Why do we have to pay US government officials such a high salary? They are just like ball players. They make too much. You can't tell me they can't live off of 40,000 or 50,000 a year. Look at your schools, your teachers get paid lowend salaries ( or at least around here they do 20 to 35k tops) but they are key in our development for our countries future. I'm a welder and make more than a teacher.

5)Why is inflation out of control?

6) Why do we still have people taking American jobs that do not even have citizenship here?
7) What can we do to make the US a better country in every aspect?

I could go on forever about things but I won't. I just see things getting worse, too many people love the "almighty dollar". Too many people have forgotten to focus on what they have to be thankful for and not how they can make more money to buy the things they desire and don't need. Morals and family values have to be shown more by action rather than one interview.
The president never gets to address the problems, our decision maker is Congress, senators and ect. The president is just a pupet on a string that gets the blame for it all. He can veto a bill but Congress and overturn it by 2/3's.

If the government wants to do better it will listen to the American people. The American people just have to be educated enough to vote for the right reason.

I don't care what the president does in their personal life. Just as long as they do their job to the best of their abilities. Like Bill Clinton, other Americans have done what he has. Smoke pot, and an affair. Other Americans just don't have the spot light on their life but still do the same if not worse.
SO PROVE TO ME THAT YOU CAN DO THE JOB TO THE BEST OF YOUR ABILITIES! I DON'T CARE ABOUT PERSONAL LIFE! We cannot get mad when the job is done correctly. I have sooo much more to rave about but you get the picture.

Thanks,
Jared

P.S. Classy, Mr. Obama classy.

I LOVED this interview!!! It's my favorite Obama interview yet. I loved that I didn't have to watch him be serious and make another speech again. I got to see him actually be real, I got to have a glimps into how Obama actually acts and who he really is. I wish he didn't say he wouldn't do an interview like this again because i REALLY LIKED IT and I'd love to see more.

I thought the interview was fantastic and I really enjoyed seeing the whole family together and how they interact with one another. The girls appear to be very grounded which is refreshing. The more I see Michelle, the more I like her, she's smart, well spoken, and very down to earth. Clearly this family has what it takes to survive the rigors of living under a microscope.
This is one Republican who will be voting for Barack Obama in November.

Obama got the nomination because he's a man. The good old boys who run the DNC couldn't stomach having a woman in charge so even though he's black they still preferred him. He also benefitted from preferential treatment in the media. The DNC is betting that women will disregard their hurt feelings and fall in with the party line. As a woman who was sexually molested by a gang of bad black boys in her teens I won't ignore my heartache when this less qualified man with way less time in politics came along to steal a woman's thunder. I smiled through the entire interview, watching the Obamas be whom I knew they would be. My opinion, great interview, great family and great candidate. Perhaps the best observations on this site today were
1. He didn't say he regretted the interview, then actually watch the interview that the writer is paraphrasing. 2. If you are coming to Access Hollywood to determine your vote for a Presidential candidate, you should probably just go to Vegas & roll a pair of dice; as you don't deserve to vote. And in my opinion, if you don't know where John McCain or Barrack Obama stand on the issues, i.e. Change, etc., it is your own fault! Go to their websites where they outline their positions, in detail, on any given issue. Get over it America, we are being introduced to the next President of the United States of America. I wouldn't want to expose my children to all the apparent haters out their either; as evident in the comments on this site. Good people and Good Man!

The Obamas are a lucky family. There is NO argument, what-so-ever, that at times Access Hollywood has been TABLOID-ish in how they present stories. The Obamas just caught you on a good day when you felt like doing some "straight" reporting, slanting on a family puff piece. Each day, people make "agenda" decisions on how they handle themselves. Any interview-ie should keep that thought process in mind, if for their own protection. Thanks for being nice AH.

Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed your interview with the Obama family. They are an absolutely lovely family, and the children were delightful. He is a great leader with some great innovative ideals. He is a representation of what is up to date about America. He is what America needs right now and this interview showed me he is no phoney. You could tell his children where not rehearsed and they spoke from the heart. This was a great interview, but I don't blame him for not allowing it again, because the media, nay sayers and player haters will turn their words inside out and lets keep these beautiful innosent little girls out of the meanness of what the media and bitter adults can bring. Stay as you are Obama family. God Bless you, and God Bless America.

Perhaps the Obama's and the news media had an understanding that the children are off limits. If so, it is no wonder why the news media was miffed and chose to make it a story and air parts of the interview thinking the rules has changed. While the inclusion of the children may very well have been organic, the news media wanted a level playing field. Even the Senator told Matt Lauer, almost apologetically, that it won't happen again. As a voter I loved the interview; as a viewer I enjoyed it; as a parent I questioned it. Good for the Obama's for nipping this in the bud personally and politically.

GREAT interview...I LOVED it!! The family was so real and reacted naturally to each other. It just did not appear staged at all. Malia seems to be a well spoken, bright child and Sasha is a normal, cute 7 yr.old. Senator Obama, there is nothing to regret. I think some persons got a shock to their systems that you are truly a humble human being and it grates on their nerves! Change and the unknown scares some persons to death, so they react accordingly. "Ignorance is bliss"..as the old adage goes. I am sure that a greater percentage of persons saw this for exactly what it was...a glimpse of the senator's human, relaxed side...People you need to GET A LIFE! No need to project your misery on to the senator. This is Access Hollywood and NOT a political forum or Oxford intellectual debate. The animosity and obtuseness that exists is profund. Keep being true to yourself senator Obama and ignore the haters and detractors...who knows..you may have been born for such a time as this! PEACE!

China and India are rising, I want to be part of a country that has not fallen behind them.

Great interview. Brave to do it with 10 & 6 year olds who will come out of their mouths with anything. Give the guy a break. You complain you don't know him, he does a family interview and you complain about that. And anyone who doesn't know where he stands on issues is only showing their own ignorance, because he has told us via the web, interviews, speeches, and however else he could possibly communicate. Including answering all the hard questions--and not just doing it in a sound bite. Anyone who hasn't read "The Audacity of Hope" needs to. It will answer all your questions. I was so happy to get more insight into the Obama family. Do you think Cindy McCain and John McCain's family with kids who spend nearly a million bucks in a month would be so down to earth?

Barack is anything but a snob. Your kids are a true reflection of your character. He gets an A+ for his kids' reflection upon him. Please! One interview per year.

It is our RIGHT as Americans to know about our President and how he lives his life. It's the biggest vote we get and this time we cannot afford to get it wrong again. Thanks Maria! You're adorable and a great interviewer.

Also, in the future he really does need to keep the girls out of the limelight and let them have a regular life as possible as the Clintons did with Chelsea.

I thought this was a very endearing interview. I wish that we could put ideology aside and just see the candidates as people, and I felt like this interview attempted to foster a more human point of view.

After reading a few of these comments—I must insert my opinion. When I hear people say I don’t know what he stands for. I am puzzled. My next question is do you wish to find out about him—or just continue to not be informed or misinformed. I will begin by saying I use to work for an International Firm, and completed a Masters degree. I have always considered myself informed. I absolutely love Sen. Obama. And I can tell you why---a lot of folks are getting side tracked by his race, and not looking beyond at his many talents. First, I have been looking for a candidate who would inspire and challenge us to move beyond the partisan divide. He will have both republicans and democrats in his administration. He is not an ideology—he is very practical. Sen. Obama is the first and the only AA President of the Harvard Law Review. Think for a moment---only the brightest students get to be on the Harvard Law review—he was elected as the President. He is exceptionally bright. He also holds a degree in International Studies from Columbia University In addition—to the community organizing, he was an Executive Director of project Vote. We don’t see the amazing value of such experience---That is why his ground operation in his campaign is the best any one has seen—on either side, The grassroots experience---that some think are not important, but this experience makes you more connected with ordinary people In addition, he spent 8 years in the State Legislature—passed over 6,000 bills—ranging form health care, to Welfare Reform to the Death Penalty Reform, and rural issues. Before he became a State Senator, and during his tenor—He was a constitutional Law Professor—and is a noted Constitutional Scholar. at University of Chicago. He knows the Constitution inside out. This is very impressive to me. More impressive to me is his global Foreign Policy insight—his insight on Iraq before we went in. The Terror czar said Sen. Obama gets the big picture, he has deep knowledge on the issues. He sits on the Foreign Relations Committee –passed legislation
Re; WEAPONS OF Mass Destruction traveled to Russia with R-Sen. Lugar. Now Sen. McCain. Graduated bottom 4th in a class of over 800 from West Point—granted not everyone is book smart. Moved away from his maverick style. Keating Five- actually liked McCain in 2000; I wish he had won the Republican Nomination I think he would have been much beer then Bush. Think is too old. I want a president who sees the urgency in educating all the Us kids to compete in the 21 century. However, let’s look at the most important tangible exhibit A. How will the candidates manage and govern. The Presidential Historian Doris Kearns says that you can get a clue by the way a candidate manages his or her campaign. Sen. Obama is supposed to be the one who is a neophyte. The so-called no experience guy. However, he has run the best most organized and disciplined presidential campaign that they have every seem, Now keep in mind. This is the first major test that the candidates are giving us a preview of their governing style. So far I was not impressed by Hillary or McCain—McCain lost all his money before a signal vote was cast. Hillary is 20 million in debt and they both had constant turmoil and they were not always on message—and was not always disciplined. I am sure we can agree—that a lot of the difficulties that both these candidates have had was due to the people who ran their respective campaigns. But you should be experienced enough to hire the best and brightest. Now I am going to come form a corporate perspective. If I was hiring a CEO/president ---Obma would win hands down. Lastly, he is the author of 2 books one a bio—Dreams of my father, and (2) the Audacity of hope—his political philosophy. He has a web site with all his views—positions on every issues full speeches and town halls . One of the ways he wants to change the politics is to have Americans involved in the political process to lobby the government to help pass his vision. Just like the folks on the Right lobbied and killed the immigration Bill that is what Obama is advocating Citizen taking over from the lobbyist, And for these who says he is changing his position---if you were paying attention form the beginning you would see that he has been consistent. I travel overseas and he is popular in so many countries, and they say he has brought them hope in the future. Don’t underestimate the innovate ideas that can be unleashed through hope. Weather you like him or not become informed on both sides. These is too much information out there especially if you spend some time at his website. Don’t let Rush, or the MSM tell you what to think educate yourself on the candidates and the issues, this election is too important to vote either misinformed or not informed,

This is crazy...if it was Dateline or Barbara Walters it would have been ok and even praised, but because it is Access Hollywood it is being scrutinized. It doesn't matter who did the interview PEOPLE! He showed they were a real family with good morals and values. You were able to see that their parents were raising the girls and not the nannies. They were confident as a whole and showed a different side of them as a family not as a business venture. It warmed our hearts and opened our minds to the real Obama family. Everyone else can have their kids involved, so why can't he. Obama and Michelle took the greatest risk at allowing their kids to be interviewed. Being that they are so young, you can't brain wash them with what to say, allowing for anything to happen. Kids do say all our dirty little secrets and the fact that they were so honest, shows what type of parents the Obama's really are. I am a Republican who will be voting Democrat for the first time this year. Please continue to be true to yourself Michelle and Barack. Your interview was fantastic. I'm sure Obama had no idea that was going to happen SURE! So he's trying to say that he was to have an interview without the kids and somehow quote it just happend that they agreed to have the kids be interviewed too. If this interview has any grounds for upsetting anyone, it just shows how much we really do need change in Washington. Time to see some real people in the White House, no matter their age.

Does this mean that he is capable of making the tough decisions to to protect the security of the country? Everyone is so impressed that he supposedly made the right decision about Iraq. My question is, with all of the world's intellegence agencies telling us how dangerous Saddam was, what lead him to believe that he knew better than all of the world's experts and the vast majority of the US congress? Under what circumstances would he be willing to use force to protect the citizens of the United States. Maybe his plan would be to fire a couple of cruise missiles at some deserted training bases as our brave former president was famous for doing. There's more to being a good Commander in Chief than having a cute family.

Omigod,I almost choked watching your interview with Barack Obama!

CAN YOU MAKE IT ANY MORE OBVIOUS THAT YOU ARE TRYING TO CRAM THAT ANTI-CHRIST DOWN OUR THROATS???

Wake up, people! Obama has THE most liberal voting record in all the Senate. LOOK PAST THE FAKE CHARISMA (I know how horrible he truly is, yet, I almost get sucked in watching him speak)--Look at what he votes for; look at the lack of experience he has; and please, America wake up before it's too late! We will have NO DEFENSE OR MILITARY IF OBAMA GETS IN!

Think about it...who do you think the terrorists want to win the election? McCain who is strong on national defense? Or Obama who thinks that all we have to do is chit chat with enemies that want us and Israel annilated off the earth, and then maybe they'll like us?

I could go on and on and on with statistics about him that will keep you awake at night, however, there isn't enough space on here.

As for Access Hollywood: I have watched that show for years, however, I will have to watch ET or Inside Edition if I want to indulge myself in any entertainment news from now on.

Access Hollywood, you should be ashamed of yourselves!

I think the "big boys" are just jealous that they didn't get the interview! I concur with the positive comments.

It was a lovely portrait of a loving and close family, the kind of family more Americans should strive to be. Unfortunately, I agree with Mr. Obama that he should not do any more family interviews. Why give the talk radio or conservative "fair and balanced" news channels or any other cable news outlets any fodder for picking apart every word that his daughters say??? I would protect my children the same way. Why, Access Hollywood, did you let other cable stations play your video???

The Obama's are great. The interview was AWESOME. I would say to the Obama family; keep doing what your're doing. Mr. Obama get ready, get ready, get ready. You are what this country needs. A real person that can identify with everyday people. A touchable person. You remind me of JFK and BC two very liked, down to earth, real and touchable people. Congratulations on a job well down thus far. I wish you and your family the best now and always. I pray that God will keep you, guide you and protect you and your family. Again, keep doing what your're doing. Lastly, remember that their will always be haters in the society but for every one hater you have 3 lovers/supporters pulling for you. You rock OBAMA. Thanks access for the interview.

I can't wait until they interview the McCains! It will be so nice to learn about them too. I'm sure they're going to do that soon...right? I won't hold my breath waiting on that one.

This interview solidifies my decision to vote for Barack Obama. Some people can be so caught up in building America as a business empire rather than a solid foundation for the people that works its very lands and holds it together. It is wonderful to see a person who is the kind of man who will really roll up his sleeves and get his hands dirty. I think there is a particular pride in working your way up to opportunity and earning the position of becoming our country's leader as oppose to being able to have your position bought for you. It is time for a change and America should be supportive of a man who is just an everyday person like you and me. To expect perfection in one person, is to expect someone inhuman. Bravo to Barack and Michelle, your success as a family first, tells us the man you really are. God Bless!

Cheryl said:

This interview was fine. It showed a loving family talking about finding the time to be together. That's what any family wants. I don't understand the people that criticize Michelle. What on earth is wrong with an intelligent accomplished woman? Do we want our first ladies do just stand by their husband's side with a vacuous smile?

Ginger said:

I just watch the interview. I feel that the news networks are just sour because they didn't get the interview first. Maria did a great job interviewing the Obama girls.

I am not a Obama supporter. I felt it was typical of Obama to call the interview a mistake.

I think the interview with Senator Obama and his family was a great idea. Should he be elected president, his family is going to be put into the lime light more than ever and I think the interview was a nice way to transition into that. I think that what was being said about him on all of the cable channels was fair to him or his family. He agreed to the interview with good, genuine intentions and those intentions were twisted. Senator Obama made the right decision by agreeing to the interview and I think that if you're a supporter of his, the interview will make you support him even more.

Dianna said:

It's to bad that what should have been a nice "meet the Obamas" interview turned into a media frenzy. What we got to see is the potential first family being a normal American family. Its not alway about the politics you media naysayers. Way to go Maria!!!

Ellen said:

Maria did a great job comming up with questions for the girls, nothing against her, congrats on snagging the interview first- but in no way does this interview make me want to vote him, and I won't. Just because he's a good family man does not mean he'll make a good President for our Great Nation! I'd like you all to go overseas and try to interview McCain's sons who are fighting for your freedom of speech! John McCain and his famliy are also wonderful people who have previously served for the freedoms and actual change in this country and are continuing to do so throughout their family's generations!

Kaitlyn said:

While surprising that Obama did allow his children on the interview, it was very refreshing to see the family side of him. He may believe it was a mistake, but I'd have to disagree - to me, he appeared like a normal dad and not a politician, an image that connects with voters and really helps to dissolve the elitist image he so adamantly attempts to refute.

Perhaps it was a mistake to put his children in a light where they may be susceptible to scrutiny - but as far as political strategy goes, I think it was brilliant, because it worked.

Brandi said:

Obama keep your head up. People will always be silly and hurtful. You know what your focus and goals are. Stay true and rest will follow. Ignore comments that your selling out and know that you are doing this for millions of people that what a better life and what better for their children and grandchildren. We will always deal with racialism and hate. But my grandma always told me that you keep smiling and always but always be polite. You are held accountable for your actions.

Barak Obama and his family are wonderful people and the interview was heartwarming to watch. I support his quest to become the next President of the USA!

I think his family and educational background gives him firsthand knowledge and experience to perform the tasks he would be presented with as president. He is a profound man with great intellectual abilities.

I also respect his decision to keep his family private and choose not to do another family interview.

I absolutely loved watching this small piece of television work, something that I have not felt in years. I don't at all think that Senator Obama should regret showing his girls and doing this interview, i think it was a huge PLUS and there's NOTHING negative about it at all! He should be proud that so many people admire his family and are amazed at his girls, all of them. I think his family is an awesome example of what normal Americans can aspire to be. Maria was great with this. Hope she gets a promotion..lol.
To the people who talk about his inexperience...how have the 'experienced' people helped us so far??? Our country is in its worst place ever, at home and abroad.

I truly believe that he will make this a better world to live in!!!

It's pretty hard to pre-script kids and make them say things that make you squirm on camera. This proves that the Obamas are just regular folks from Illinois. I thought the interview was charming and impromptu. Had Barack thought about it much longer he would have realized what little control he had over their comments and refused. Thank God he didn't. I thought it was a scream. Especially the 10 year old pants. BTW: If anyone is still confused of his program or issues, please refer to the 64 page PDF on www.barackobama.com

I'm so sorry that some want to be critical but that's there problem! I know Obama was a little nervous because he is protective of his girls but I do thank him for sharing his family with us just this once! I don't blame him for not doing it again! Sometimes people can be so cruel! Oh but I just love it!

I don't think that this interview proves anything. It proves they know how to give an interview. They've been doing this and know how to do it.

I find it a little bit much to see night after night of the Obamas.

I don't turn on Access Hollywood (HOLLYWOOD)...what do the Obama's have to do with Hollywood...unless it is because they are great actors.

It's almost as if Access is having a sexual experience over the Obama's...their dress...their family life...it's a bit much...I don't care what political family you would behave this way about.

I'll just be waiting for the McCain interview too.

I don't like either man as a presidential candidate, but I have to assume that Access will provide an equal balance.

Rachel said:

I thought it STUNK! I'm so sick and tired of the media blowing him up. Why not run an interview with McCain on the same day? Looks like we know who access is voting for and that's fine but give me a break. I think this is a very good way to lower your ratings. Do you think because they dress nice and want a dog it will make us want to vote for him. Yes actually it will because there are allot of uneducated people out there that would in fact vote based on skin color and clothing. Its very disturbing to say the least.

Steve said:

It is called Access Hollywood...not Access Obama and people changing their vote simply because of an edited interview void of any policy or anything substantial is quite pathetic.

Really....what is the fuss? The man has no record to speak of and is probably the least qualified person to ever run for the presidency. He can't get his policies straight and take away the teleprompter and the scripted words, the man can't put a coherent sentence together. People are making complete idiots of themselves fawning over a man who in his short career has flipflopped with the best of them and even wants to have tea with terrorists.

Wake up Access. We know who you are partial to however the coverage is beyond sickening. Enough with the free publicity. I look forward to the debates where even his wife and kids can't shield the truth about the incompetence of this man.

I thought this was a great interview which showed what a wonderful, down-to-earth family they are. I loved the interaction with their daughters and how candid and relaxed they were in sharing their private family life with us. I also have a lot of respect for Michelle because she spends their money wisely by buying reasonably priced clothes. This interview enforced my feelings that I think Senator Obama would make a great president and Michelle a wonderful first lady. I think they understand how families today are struggling to make ends meet, and they are what America needs in these troubling times.

I wish we could see the whole interview with Obama at one time. I loved seeing the family for the first time. Please air the whole interview.

Ashley said:

I do not support Obama but for him to sit down with his family and show a personal side to him was the best thing he could have done. I think it showed him in a different light then the whole time talking about politics. It showed him as a regular husband and father. I will never understand why the media thought this was such a big deal. But my only gripe about the whole thing is that he said he made a wrong decision and should have never done it. I can understand why he will never do it again and i don't blame him there, but what he did was something that so many others have done. There is nothing wrong with it and i wish instead of saying what he did was wrong he could stand up and say hey i did it and i didn't think there was anything wrong with it. Sure he's under the microscope but when he said he had a lot going on, it made him sound like he couldn't make decisions under pressure. Thats the only thing that has bothered me about this whole thing. To me the comments after the interview has showed me that he couldn't stand behind his decisions if they hit the media the wrong way and that scares me. Would there be more excuses if the media didn't like it the same way as Bush. Sad part is they're from two different parties...

Maria upstaged Larry King, Oprah, Anderson and many others in one moment. Congrats!! Maria, you did a great job and achieved exactly what you set out to do and exactly what us viewers wanted to see...i.e. the family dynamic. Anderson was disappointing in his dismissive comments and Larry conducted one of his weakest interviews of Ingrid Betancourt the same night. Thank you for giving us the quick peek. It was a heart warming picture. I was particularly impressed with the ease, confidence and articulate responses by the girls, which truly reflected the great parenting credited to the Obamas. Thanks for this rare opportunity! You guys, and Maria in particular, SCORED BIG TIME!!

the interview was wonderful, and i really enjoyed that opportunity to see another side of sen. obama. his kids are beautiful, and their family exudes love. it's understandable that this kind of interview would only be a one time type of thing, and it seems to me that what he expressed discomfort with was the degree to which the interview was plastered all over the networks, exposing his kids to a far larger audience than he and his wife had anticipated. the clips where everywhere, maria was interviewed about it by several programs, and some networks even had party strategists disecting it, i found it surprising too. i don't see any hypocrisy in doing the interview at all, he has said time and again that he doesn't believe in attacking the families of his opponents, not that he'd keep his family totally out of the spotlight, this interview is perfectly in line with that.

Jim From Alexandria said:

I thought that the interview was just another softball thrown Obama's way because so many in the entertainment industry and the "news" media have slanted their coverage to show this guy as some sort of whiz-kid. Access Hollywood has now shown five or six parts of this interview, giving a guy that thinking-people still don't know what to think of him, free media well beyond what is fair. If Access Hollywood doesn't have a concept of fairness, then just come right out and say that the show supports Obama. I would imagine that advertisers would frown on such a move. You guys should be embarrassed.

When will you be doing a six-part series on McCain? This is the presidency we're talking about and "anything is better than Bush" is no way to pick a world leader. Have you learned nothing over the last eight years?????

Myrla Baumann said:

I am still confused as to why he would sit in a position which enabled all of those who watched to see a view of him that was not very pleasant to be exposed to. He sat through part of that interview with his legs spread and you could quite well see a part of him that I do not hope to every have to see again.

Someone please council him on how not to sit in front of a camera.

I seem to be the only one who has said anything about this, but come on guys, I was not the only one who noticed this.

As far as the interview, we all know this TV station's political view and which side they always push. Which side they always criticize.

SRD said:

I just read one of the post that made reference to Obama sitting with his legs spread and she/he had a problem with that. And the person states that she/he is surprise no one else took notice of this. Perhaps it was because we were more interested in how the family interacted with eachother and how the family expressed their views. It appears that YOU were the only one that were more interested in his sitting position and a part of his anatomy that has absolutely nothing to do with his ability to run the country or tell us anything extra about his intellect. Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder and so I would ask do you always focus your eyes on people crotch area? For perhaps since no one else mentioned this--the problem lies with your failure to control your eyes or lust. I watched this scene over and over again and was not the least bit offended and perhaps it was for the reasons I stated previously. I was more interested in what he had to say and getting a birds eye view of his family and perhaps you were more interested in getting a bird eye view of something else. And if it provoked emotions from you--don't blame him --but look from within.

The Obamas are a wonderful family. It is great to see his family. For fifteen years this couple has been together and built a great foundation for their children and it so real and organic. Maria did a fantastic job with the children - engaging them and maintaining a comfort level for them to communicate so openly. I can understand why the Obamas not wanting their children interviewed again but I would respectfully have to disagree that it was a mistake. The interview showed a realness for Barak that he is just like the all of us. For a lot of Americans that were not sure about his connections to the everyday person, could see that he is not an elitists but a MAN with his family wanting a job a few of us want to sign up for.
Congrats, Access and Maria for a great interveiw.

Wendy said:

FABULOUS! It was great to see the whole family relaxed and interacting. It shows that they are a typical American family.

I do wish Obama wouldn't feel the need to "rebuke" anything and everything that is criticized in the media. He is a candidate who is most connected to the people out of any and all candidates we've had in recent memory. He just needs to continue being "REAL."

GO OBAMA!!

mary said:

People keep referring to this as an 'interview' but it seems to me it was a publicity stunt! It's so obvious Maria will be voting for him. I've had enough of the 'interview'. I enjoy watching Access Hollywood - but it's supposed to be 'Hollywood' not politics! Will you be doing a similar 'interview' with the McCain's? Of course their children won't be available for 'cute' because they are SERVING our country instead of bad mouthing it!

I completely disagree with Obama exposing his young children to the media. I'm not sure what his real agenda was for having his family appear on T.V. He stated many times how he wants to leave his private life out of the campaign. Now he's apologizing saying he thinks it was a bad idea. I don't understand why he would say it was a spur of the moment decision. It was not a spur of the moment interview. How will his "spur of the moment" decisions affect the whole entire nation. And will he be always second guessing his decisions? All it shows is that he is a great family man but how does that qualify him to be a great president who will lead our entire nation.

sarah said:

The family is adorable, it is just hard to believe such a precious family could also be supporting the slaughtering of babies.....the "perfect, spotless" Obama does not seem so perfect with that in mind.

Joni said:

I thought it was unnecessary for Obama to have his children involved in the political interview. You may not have thought it was political but let's face it-he is running for President-everything is political. Maria seemed mesmerized by the Obamas. She seemed giddy.

I want to see what she will do with the McCain's/Palin's. Oh, that's right, from what I've seen so far, the media seems to be fooled by Obama and won't give the Republicans equal media. Wake up! Be fair about this!

I used to like Access Hollywood but I am beginning to wonder if everything is "one-sided".

I love this interview. It shows that you can have a successful career and still raise healthy, happy children and have a spouse by your side to love and support you and vice versa. Neither Barack or Michelle come from a well-to-do two parent household yet they have been able to create with thier own. I look forward to having a beautiful family like this one day (I'm the same age as Michelle when she met the love of her life so thats pretty cool).
May God continue to bless the new First Family of the United States!
