'Bachelorette:' Inside The 'Men Tell All' Taping

Of course you all know that by now if you watched last night’s episode of “The Bachelorette.” I just needed to finally be able to shout it out because it’s a secret I’ve had to keep to myself for the past two weeks. I’m not good with secrets. I have a big mouth. That’s why I work on a television show that deals in gossip. I’m proud to say I successfully kept this secret to myself. There was that whole concept that ABC would sue me if I didn’t, so that helped.

Maybe it’s because I’m going through my own personal male drama that I really got attached to this season of “The Bachelorette” and these guys. So, for the first time ever I asked to attend the “Men Tell All” special.

Of course, I was thinking I would get to sit in the audience. So, I got all cuted up. When I get there though I was informed that press would not be allowed to sit in the audience. We had to watch from a green room backstage. I was slightly annoyed until I realized there was a nice craft service table for me to grab snacks from every few minutes. Plus, the guys would come out during commercial breaks to use the bathroom and grab a snack themselves and the girls in the green room with me got to gossip during the show. So, it actually ended up working out quite well. My heart nearly dropped when halfway during the show, I ran smack into Jeremy on a bathroom break.

More on that later though...

So, the show starts and the first thing they do is tear into Jeremy for being a D*&! and a Do#$@ Bag. This segment went on for a good twenty minutes before the bashing stopped. It was brutal to watch. I felt so bad for the poor guy.

What they actually ended up showing was an edited down version of this roasting on the show. The show taping actually took two-and-a-half hours and was then edited down to 1 hour. So, there was lots of stuff that the audience at home didn’t get to see. They kept all the good parts and then just trimmed them down.

I felt bad for many of the guys who originally would have gotten a lot of air time like Twilley, Fred and Richard, but ultimately ended up on the cutting room floor. They also cut out the guys giving their pick for whether DeAnna chooses Jason or Jesse. The votes were pretty much split down the middle. Unfortunately, they didn’t edit out Greg ripping his shirt off and doing his coyote call again. We definitely could have done without that.

So, the show wraps up and then it’s my time to talk to some of the guys. I was only allowed to interview three and chose two instead…Jeremy and Graham. Waiting around for Graham to come chat with me I met Fred from Chicago who is a total sweetheart. Ladies, now there is a guy worth getting to know if you happen to live in Chicago where he is. Just a total sweetheart and very fun.

The first person I spoke to was Graham who in person actually is “smoking hot.” Every time DeAnna would say this, I didn’t quite see it. He was cute on the show but the hotness just didn’t come through. He walked into the green room and I was like “damn!” The guy has the most beautiful piercing green eyes. He says he came on the show because he was having some family issues and had been in a sporadic relationship and was looking to escape. I don’t think he came on the show looking for publicity like some others. He seems like a decent, cool, down to earth guy and I believed him when he told me the idea of marriage doesn’t scare him.

“I was there hoping she would be the most amazing woman ever and we would figure the details out. Unfortunately for me, DeAnna was just not the person that filled that void for me. I am actively looking for it, but just because it wasn’t her, doesn’t mean I am a commitment phobe because I can’t wait for that.”

Next, I sat down with DeAnna who is very intense. She has an agenda and she sticks to it. I personally don’t understand how a 26-year-old independent girl such as herself is so desperate to get married, but she wants what she wants. I tried to pick up on some clues as to who I think it’s going to be.

I asked her if she could ever really be number one in someone’s heart with Jason having a son and she assured me she could.

“That child is so adorable you can tell that that child is Jason’s world. Jason does put me first. I do understand that he has a son and that is his number one but there is room for a woman in his life,” DeAnna said.

In the end, I would bet she ends up with Jesse though based on three things she said to me. The first was about him being ready to be a husband.

“When you get past the crazy exterior, there is a wonderful human being in there who is ready for love. I think he was more ready to be the husband than some of the other guys on the show,” she added.

The second thing is way more telling. I asked DeAnna where she and the chosen one would live and she said, “We have decided that we would like to live in two different places. My place and his place. We are okay with that.”

There is no way a guy who has a son is going to live in two different places.

The third thing she said is that she wants to pursue a career in hosting. Jesse’s snowboarding career won’t last forever and he seems like the type who would go into a similar field whereas Jason seems pretty stable. I think it’s Jesse who will be her final pick.

Lastly, I got a chance to talk to Jeremy. We chatted for about 40 minutes and he is definitely not the same person he was on the show. He’s funny and sweet and not at all the stoic guy portrayed on the show. The first thing he did was offer me food and joke, “I’m trying to feed you. You’re too skinny.”

On the “Men Tell All,” he seemed completely broken hearted about DeAnna and I had to ask if he was still in love with her.

“Am I still in love with her? I tell you, you really ask the tough questions. I don’t know if love was the right word. It was more like a wanting so bad to fall in love with someone,” he told me.

After that, I got the sense he was way more over it then he would admit in front of the cameras. In fact, while I was sitting there a call came in from a girl. I’d say the name on the caller ID but I’d get in trouble!

Hopefully, he learned a lot from this experience and his next relationship will be better for it. It sounds like he knows what he is looking for.

“To me, a better fit is someone who is more inclined to my type of lifestyle -- a little bit more driven, a little bit more motivated to live in the real world, not the dream world not in la la land, not in television or whatever.”

Wow. So, I guess I’m out! Not everyone in television lives in the dream world though Jeremy! I know you didn’t mean it towards me, right?

I’ll have more with Jeremy tomorrow on why he got branded with the term “American Psycho.”
