'Family Guy' Skewers Sarah Palin and Lauren Conrad Cozies Up To Brian the Dog
"Sarah Palin is just going to want to crawl under the covers and never come out when we are done with her. Let me put it out there."
"Family Guy" has never shied away from skewering controversial issues and people. The first episode of this season proved that, with a particularly off color joke about First Lady Laura Bush, where Peter dresses up as her for a costume party and Lois dresses as... well I won't give it away. I love the show. It's one of my favorites. But it's in really poor taste. I'll admit that.
The Palin jokes won't come right away though, as each episode takes about a year to come to fruition because of the animation, but McFarlane isn't worried.
"If people are as stupid as I think they are and McCain gets elected, the jokes are gonna work great. There will be so many hilarious jokes about a mom who doesn't believe in contraception winding up with a pregnant seventeen year old."
As for other celebrity voices for season seven, Drew Barrymore returns as Brian's dimwitted girlfriend, Jillian.
After a brief voice cameo in 2006, "The Hills" star Lauren Conrad will
return as herself for an episode airing next spring. MacFarlane tells
me LC was surprisingly well prepared for the role.
"It's an episode where she dates Brian and I have to say the girl came in having hired an acting coach, having rehearsed more than some pros that we get. She took it damn seriously and I have new respect."
No references to her feud with Heidi Montag but Seth says Spencer Pratt will not escape unscathed.
Seth also filled me in other storylines coming down the pipeline including a "Star Trek: Next Generation" reunion, among others.
"Stewie is left home alone. Brian gets a girlfriend that Cleveland then sleeps with and so Brian tries to get Cleveland's ex-wife to get back together with him. Stewie and Brian go back in time to Nazi Germany and Lois has to make a decision about an abortion. Now, we don't know if that one is going to make it to air. They [FOX] are on the fence about it."
Fans will be happy to hear that the follow up to the massively successful "Star Wars" episode is half way finished. It will be an "Empire Strikes Back" episode which according to Seth is, "splashier, more expensive and more hard work than the first one was. The last one almost killed us and I think this one might finish the job."
New episodes of "Family Guy" return to FOX on September 28th.

Family Guy already skewered Sarah Palin before she came into existence

The Laura Bush "joke" was extremely offensive and in unbelievably poor taste. Hey Seth, you moron, the people you skewer have feelings. Many years after the incident, Laura Bush still can't bear to discuss it, but the heartless Seth MacFarlane can't wait to make a national joke about it. It's cruel, plain and simple. Now he says he's going to make Sarah Palin "hide under the covers" if the American people are, in his words, as stupid as he thinks they are to elect McCain. Geez, Seth, I guess we know who's side you're on you pointless piece of garbage. I look forward to the day when someone makes you want to crawl under the covers. Nobody likes a bully, but everyone likes to see the bully get his.
Dick Guzinya,
Grow up. I don't see you naming SNL or anything else that makes fun of people for a living. Go cry a river. Faux News is Hardcore Right Wing, and he works for them. It's his job to pick people apart and make fun of them. He's done it to Clinton as well. But I guess you wouldn't know about that would you? Or do you happen to forget it simply because it's convenient? Palin has plenty of material to be torn up. I say do it. Want to be in the spot light, then you open yourself up for it. Face it, Seth is open to everyone when it comes to his show. Liberal, Conservative, Republican or Democrat. Does. Not. Matter.
Phil Bryant,
Try growing up yourself. He's
targeting Palin. He did not mention Obama, Biden or McCain. If your going after crude slapstick spread it around. His intention is to be abusive, not funny and he will end up losing a large portion of his audience and that's sad because it is a cute little show. Clinton earned his but Palin does not deserve this crap.
