Luke Perry On Dylan Being Kelly's '90210' Baby Daddy
Thanks to this week's episode of "90210" we now know that the father of Kelly Taylor's four year old son, Sammy, is in fact Dylan McKay and not Brandon Walsh. The big reveal happened during a scene where Kelly confronts Brenda Walsh for revealing personal information about her to teacher crush, Ryan Matthews. Brenda accuses Kelly of still being in love with Dylan and not being capable of moving on. Speaking to reporters this morning from Sweden, Luke Perry made it clear he will not be returning to the show. When asked how he felt about Dylan being the father he sniped, “They own the name and likeness."
When pressed further about returning to the show he added, “That would be a no.”
That's not to say the Perry isn't proud of his work as Dylan on "Beverly Hills, 90210." He says recently he has had a lot of time to think about his work on that show and the mega success it brought to him.
"When shows take off and they sort of, you know, become part of the American psyche like that, there is a time when it's happening that you are a little resentful of it because you had no idea it could possibly get that big. When you stop and look at the whole of your life and you look at the whole picture from that perspective I'm very proud of it. It was a lot of fun. It gives you a neat relationship with the American public. It really does put you on a little bit of a closer basis with all kinds of people. The world could use a little more of that."
Perry's next role will be in the season premiere of "Law & Order: SVU" as a foster parent accused of bribing a child in exchange for abusive medical testing. The episode airs Tuesday, September 23 at 10:00 PM ET/PT.
This would be fine if it wasn't meant to be that Dylan end up with Kelly (or Brenda; I guess I would accept that one even if we are told it happens offscreen). But it still messes with the show's legacy for him not to be reappearing. He doesn't have a show of his own now, and if it weren't for their poor handling of Tori, I don't think papa Aaron Spelling would be insulted rather than flattered by the new show and Perry's appearance on it.
DAMN IT! I thought he was going to be coming back. Great, there goes the anticipation i felt the other day.
I hate it so much that Luke Perry won't be back, along with some of the other cast members as well. The REAL BEVERLY HILLS SHOW- is with the old cast. That is what made that show happen. I started watching Beverly Hills 90210 right when it first came out, but sometimes I stayed out with my friends and missed alot of the shows. I watch the older ones now and for me, it is watching or catching up for the ones I missed. I have 2 seasons and try to remember to record it so I don't miss an older one. That was the best times back then and life was alot easier then too. Things then didn't seem to really matter as much. I feel connected to them, i guess because when I watch those old shows, it takes me back to a time i loved so much. We are the same age group too. I started watching it the new one, just to give it a chance and also in hopes to see some old cast members and it is just WAY too CHEESY. It is drawaing more of a younger crowd. LUKE, TORI, JASON, PLEASE COME BACK!!!!!!!
Come back at least for a reunion show. That would be great.
OHHHH!!! I agree with these comments!!!! in fact I still have Dylan as a Ken doll!!! How could you not want to reappear especially for the fans! That goes for all of the cast from the original series. PLEASE show up at some point!!!!!!!!
I agree, I wish all the old characters wud make an appearance on the new show, especially Luke Perry. After the reveal the other wk that Dylan was the Daddy, I really thought he'd be back. V V disappointed now!
Im really disappointed. Dylan was the one I was waiting for in new series. He was very importent and i think there is a lots of fands disappointed. Im really maaaad. :o(
