Reporting For My Civic Duty
America is great and we all have to be willing to serve....better to be willing when you're actually being forced.
Jury duty...that civic responsibility so mundane in its execution, but essential to the liberties our forefathers and mothers asked for and received back in the 1700s.
A jury of our peers to decide our fate...what an awesome system.
Today, as my professional life gets cover from Tony Potts (filling in on both Access and “The Billy Bush Show” on radio), I am a contributing American citizen...granted I am staring at the wall wondering if a particular line is a crack in the paint or a pencil tracing.
Now...please don't call my name! Haha
You could be lucky like me and end up serving on the grand jury duty, which is at the federal level, for 18 months. Of course on a day that you want to leave early, you get to sit in on Helio Castroneves' federal charges and see him in court. I love our civic duty.
So -- on October 4, 2008 - you had the unforgetable experience of raising a 15 star, 15 stripe American Flag at Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine. And then you sung the National Anthem along side Michael Phelps and all the other Maryland Olympic Heros.
So --like Francis Scott Key, you were able to witness the flag raising over the hisoric Fort - so after having this experience at such a unique historic site --- do you feel more positive about honoring our civic duty?
I find it interesting and quite absurd that Access Hollywood took the story of Lindsay's deposition today (Oct 9th) from the Associated Press and chose to change "girlfriend" to "gal pal". They have both already confirmed their relationship and even after the confession was denied by Lindsay's rep, Lindsay and Samantha both dismissed the denial and conformed that they've been in a relationship for over 8 months. You can even read about the interview that Samantha did with her friend and former hollywood publicist Jonathan Jaxson (who by the way, you said has "the best celebrity blog on the net").
Why would you change "girlfriend" to "Gal pal" from the associated press story and leave everything else in tact. That is very homophobic. People Magazine and OK magazine (two well respected Time Warner brands) are calling them girlfriends and have published stories from their friends also confirming the relationship. I encourage and insist that Access Hollywood does the same. This has been a topic discussed AT LENGTH on many blogs and sites and Access Hollywood is ALIENATING many former fans just by this simple homophobic gesture.
Smarten up Access Hollywood!! Smarten up.
And Billy, please speak to those at Access Hollywood that can address this issue. I assure you that it MATTERS to many people. Including many of YOUR fans.

Speaking of 'contributing American citizen'... I just watched your interview with Sharon Osbourne. She's slamming Palin and making ridiculous comments about Obama could've had a huge job...and she's NOT even a US citizen and can't vote here!

I would really be intereseted in hearing from the "stars" who are pro McCain and Palin. It seems the only ones getting any air time or press time are Pro Obama. Please do not say there are no stars that are for McCain because I know better.
