The Truth Behind The Brad Pitt Golden Globes Red Carpet Interview
Everybody's asking me about Brad and Angie stopping for me and not Seacrest.It happens, especially with the big stars that arrive late, that sometimes you get them, sometimes you don't.
Then, someone showed me this from an Us Magazine posting today:
"Jolie and Pitt did stop for NBC's Billy Bush, but Seacrest said, 'there's an NBC deal there. NBC hosted the Globes, and they have a deal to talk to the people who come to the Globes.
"Here's what I realized when I went down there,' Seacrest went on. 'I realized quickly that it's against the rules to walk down onto the carpet from the platform."
Ryan must be assuming I was doing the official NBC pre-show whose producers, like all those running official live telecasts, try as hard as they can to set up commitments from stars in advance.
I was not... Strictly Access duty last night -- Nancy O'Dell did the NBC pre-show as she has for the last several years.
By the way, Brad and Angelina did not do the pre-show either.
In the end, I left my platform and interviewed Brad (sans Angie) on the carpet in front of my platform. I gather Brad did ET as well. No "deal'... or "big deal" really. Just funny.
I have had stars pass by for one reason or another over the years... Maybe something happened they didn't particularly love in the past, who knows... There are a lot of stars and it isn't going to go perfectly every time. They're all in different moods on different nights. You swing and hopefully hit as many as possible.
If you're good, and Ryan is, then you take chances and risks... Thankfully, it works out more often than not for Ryan, for me and for most who are going for it.
Now, our Access Co-ed softball team has a game... We're sleepless but fired up for another win.
You're totally right, Billy. Actually, anyone can choose with whom he/she wants to do an interview. We don't know why Brad and Angelina passed Ryan, but that shouldn't be a big deal. Like you said, sometimes it's a hit, sometimes it's a miss.
I am so glad that you actually commented on this. Everyone is always so quick to make Angie in to the bad guy. I do however think that Ryan does owe an apology to Angie and to Brad for the comments they made regarding Angie after the 06 GG's. Especially since Angie's Mom was so ill and died the next week. Personally, I can't stand Angelina Jolie. I think she is B**** and she looks like she wants to kill the world. I used to love Brad Pitt when he was a happy go lucky, smiling, enjoying life guy. Now he looks like he is ready to kill in every picture I see of him and Angelina. So, personally I don't think anyone should interview them. They are snobs.
What was Angelina referencing when she said, "That's my business, man." ?

I think Ryan Seacrest knew that Brad and Angie were probably going to diss him. And Now everyone is talking about Ryan Seacrest. Talk about PR...job well done for Ryan.
LOL The whole "Brad and Angie dissed Seacrest" story is quite funny.
I'm guessing it happens all the time - it's just unfortunate that it happened live on tv. I don't think it is as embarrassing as people make it out to be. It wouldn't be a big deal if it had happened to a low profile interviewer. There are a lot of stars and a lot of people from the media. You can't win them all. I'm glad you got the interview though.
I don't understand the hype about these two. They are good at their job but so are many others. With all of their money, why is Brad building a 800 room, eco-friendly luxury hotel in Dubai? What's wrong the the good ole USA?
Thanks for clarifying Billy, at the very least what Ryan said was really disingenuous, at the worst, a big fat lie. He knows perfectly well why he didn't get the time of day from Brad & Angelina. I vividly recall him interviewing Brad and Angelina back in Jan '07 at the Golden Globes, I thought they were gracious and kind answering his typically banal questions. Oddly enough, I was shocked at his vitriol about Angelina the next day - it was unwarranted, and just mean-spirited. Especially when I read her Mom was on her deathbed. He should have apologized ASAP. His Q&A for them is on tape and on youtube - so anyone can see they were very nice, despite dealing with her mother's illness. If what he said then got back to them, they would be fools to humor such an obnoxious nasty person again.
