Jordin Sparks On Where She's Putting Her New 'Idol' Trophy
Last week when they unveiled the new "American Idol Experience" at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida all seven "American Idol" winners were there. It was the first time all the winners had been on a stage together and "American Idol" creator Simon Fuller had a huge surprise for them. He and host Ryan Seacrest presented them with a newly designed silver trophy, shaped like a microphone, which from now on all Idol winners will receive at the show's finale as they are announced the winner.
I caught up with season six champ Jordin Sparks at the premiere of the Jonas Brothers new 3D concert film where she was still overjoyed about the experience of meeting up with all the Idols.
"I had a blast," she told me, "I could not even believe that all the winners were there together. Because I watched the show since it started and they all influenced me to audition. So being up there I was like 'oh my gosh, I can't believe this is happening!'"
Jordin says she absolutely loved the new silver "American Idol" trophy, which was designed by the same folks who designed the Oscar.
"I actually think it's a really cool idea," she said, "We've actually talked about how nobody can take the title away from you. Obviously everybody sees you win but at the same time it's cool to have some sort of physical manifestation of your hard work. Trophies and medals and stuff like that it's always cool to get. I can also be like, kids or my grand kids or whomever, I can be like, this is the microphone I got for winning!"
And she has got a special place picked out for it at home.
"I don't have it yet. They have to send it to me but I know I'm gonna put it-- we have this empty armoire that we used to put all of our like school projects and stuff in so there's it's gonna be up there with my AMA award, my People's Choice Award, and my cell project that I made in the 9th grade."
And of course she hopes to add a few more trophies to the mix.
"Hopefully I would love to put a Grammy in there. I'm working on some new stuff so hopefully I can be there again this year. Maybe a Tony, maybe an Oscar... I don't know. But I would love to get into some acting and stuff. I think that would be a lot of fun. I'm looking at some scripts. I'm just looking for the right one."
Despite her busy schedule Jordin says he is watching season eight and voting.
"I voted for Alexis Grace and Danny!"
