Top Ten TV Quotes: Simon Cowell Edition!
In honor of the return of the live shows on "American Idol," I present to you Simon's Top Ten "Simon-isms" from Tuesday nights performance show:
#10 -- "I think you may have just blown a massive opportunity by being forgettable."
Simon to Brent Keith, whose take on Jason Aldean's "Hicktown" fell flat. A similar line would be told to Casey Carlson, Steven Fowler and Stevie Wright after their performances.
#9 -- "I actually wish you had forgotten the lyrics because it was such a pointless performance to be honest with you."
Simon to contestant Steven Fowler who forgot his lyrics during Hollywood Week but kept it together in the live show to sing Michael Jackson's "Rock Wit You" which Simon, of course, hated.
#8 -- "My only issue with you is that I don't think you have, at the moment, any star quality."
Simon to contestant Ricky Braddy who sang well but up until the live show had virtually no airtime in the audition rounds.
#7 -- "They are being quite polite. I mean Stevie it was terrible."
Simon telling it like it is to Stevie Wright after Paula, Kara and Randy politely tell her it wasn't good.
#6 -- "I think that you actually played the clown tonight. I thought the performance was ungainly. I thought the song was a bit gimmicky."
Simon to contestant Jackie Tohn who had the bad luck of singing first.
#5 -- "You may be a little dark horse in this competition you know, seriously."
Simon to Alexis Grace, who nailed her song.
#4 -- "If we were searching for the best hotel singer in California then that would have been quite good. The simple truth is your voice is not good enough for that song."
Simon to singer Anne Marie Boskovich about her boring take on Aretha Franklin's "Natural Woman."
#3 -- "I like you. I'm just not buying the hype tonight."
Simon to frontrunner Danny Gokey who the other judges praised for nailing Mariah Carey's "Hero."
#2 -- "You are a complete and utter drama queen. Right? You are. I've never met anyone in my life (probably with the exception of Paula) who has wanted fame more than anyone else."
Simon to annoying contestant Tatiana Del Toro who sang Whitney Houston's "Saving All My Love For You."
