Michael Sarver and Laura Saltman on the Access Hollywood set, March 27, 2009.jpgThis week we start our Idol to Access series where the top 10 eliminated contestant's come sing our on Access Hollywood stage. Nice guy Michael Sarver talked to me about his run on the show and what he hopes to do after Idol.

DISH: You had the biggest smile on your face the entire night even when they told you that you were eliminated.

SARVER: I'm proud of the way I represented myself so there is no way to really frown when you look back on something like this and being so successful being in the top ten.

DISH: Did you have your bags packed?

SARVER: I did pack my bags. Mostly obviously because of the judges response to my performance. It wasn't really great and I knew that I struggled. I dealt with some sickness that took its toll on me. I'm getting better but when your voice just doesn't show up it doesn't show up.

DISH: So you had a feeling it would be you going home?

SARVER: When I woke up in the morning I woke up without the alarm clock like the first time since I have been here and for some reason there was just this peace and I walked through the day with a big smile on my face.

DISH: On a percentage scale from 0 to 100 what do you think the chances were the judges would save you?

SARVER: Maybe twenty. I was expecting that they would not but it was very  flattering that they would sit their and actually talk about and they complimented my second performance being good.

DISH: This means you get to go on our tour. Any regrets about leaving your daughters again.

SARVER: Before I go on the tour I'm going to give them my undivided attention for a little while at home.

DISH: Will you ever return to being an oil rigger?

SARVER: No maam. I'm not going back. I'm not ever and Ill tell you why. Because I didn't get into this American Idol thing just to go on a show. I got into this the thing to launch a career and I'm gonna. I'm gonna keep trucking to capitalize the best I know how from this experience.

DISH: What will you do next?

SARVER: Its gonna involve an album I can guarantee that. I'm gonna go home right away and start writing and recording in my own studio.

DISH: You have a recording studio in your home?

SARVER: I just have over the years accumulated this piece and that piece and anybody knows what it takes to run a studio knows it usually doesn't happen overnight. I definitely have enough to do it and when I get home I have already made plans to make some additions.

DISH: Most people think of you as the country guy but that's not really what you want to do. If someone handed you a check and said make what you want what would you make?

SARVER: It would be more an R&B, pop, soul album.

DISH: Have you been bitten by the acting bug at all?

SARVER: Absolutely. I'm actually quite interested in the acting part of the entertainment industry. If the opportunity arose id take it in a second.
