My Thoughts On "The Bachelor" Finale Train Wreck

Thumbnail image for jason_mesnick.jpgSad. Just sad - Yet brilliantly, fantastic, pathetic, horrifying TV. That is what I have to say about this "Bachelor" train wreck. At first, I thought maybe I would long for the days of when "the happy couple" (as ABC likes to call them) would pretend they were still together and then "break up" a few months after the finale aired and we would read about it in a magazine. This, however, is even better. C'mon... you have to admit it's good television. We have all gone through breakups and they sure do seem to go a lot like this one.

The fact that Jason and Melissa would allow anyone to film their breakup on national television is beyond ridiculous but yet when have we seen something so genuine out of this show ever? Melissa sitting their all pissed off not looking at him. Jason looking like a sad, guilty puppy. Been there. Done that.

My favorite moment besides when Melissa called him a "bastard" was when she told Jason, "Don't call me. Don't text me anymore. Leave me alone please."  Who in a breakup hasn't said words like that?

To me, it looked like he outright lied when Chris asked if Jason had talked to Molly at all. Notice he looks down when he answers rather into Chris Harrison's eyes. This goes along with what I have heard about e-mails floating around the Internet that prove Jason was seeing Molly behind Melissa's back. That whole, "Holy cow it's been a long time," he uttered to Molly seemed very fake. I really want a body language expert to examine this whole show.

As for the claims that the producers coaxed him into proposing to Melissa purposefully with plans to dump her for Molly the whole time - I have to say, I don't see it. Jason is an account executive from Seattle, Washington. He's not an actor. I really doubt he could pull off the ruse. It truly just seems like he had a change of heart. Jason was sobbing uncontrollably after he let Molly go. If he had such strong, intense feelings to the point where he would let that much emotion flood out of him, how on earth could he then propose to someone else? Choose one girl over the other, but don't promise to spend the rest of your life with them.

Now, Jason just looks like a massive jerk. Not a single mention of his son either, which seemed wrong.

I look forward to hearing all your thoughts.

I think Jason has an unrealistic idea of what a relationship/marriage should be. I thought that from the time that Jillian was mentioning how she wanted a "best friend" for her husband and that seemed to freak him out. It seems as though he thinks a relationship/marriage should be this fantasy world of flowers/romance/passion 24/7. Wait until the novelty of a relationship with Molly wears off and reality sets in....he'll be on to something new.

I will never watrch that show again!!!!!! Melissa was way too nice to Jason. He is a jerk. Molly is NOT the woman for him. She is whiny and makes me sick!!!

Laura,

I have to disagree with your assessment that Jason didn't go along with the producers in regards to the Melissa proposal. Throughout the whole two hour show, I noticed that at times, Jason seemed to be nonchalant (indifferent) in his thoughts toward Melissa. Several times during the show there were sound bites from him expressing how much he cared, and for how long he cared, for Molly. He mentioned many times that these feeling had been there since early in the show! Also, whenever he talked about the two girls Molly's name always came first. The fact is, that throughout the whole final rose show it appeared a sure bet that he was going to pick Molly, then the big twist, Molly steps out of the limo first?! I'm sure this SOB was given some healthy incentives ($$$$) to do what he did!
I do believe that Melissa was right, and sincere, when she asked him why he wasn't fighting for their relationship after he asked her to marry him. You know, Reality Steve was right when he said "it was never about Melissa, it was always about Molly".
I totally agree with you on this point, I think he bold-faced lied when asked if he had contact with Molly. But that's just how this show has been this whole season, one BIG perpetual lie after another!
Whether Melissa knew about it (I believe that she suspected something) or not, what this Jason did was downright low and dirty! He's nothing more than a scum-sucking, dirty rotten dirt bag A**HOLE!!
I, for one, have had it with this show. No more of this nonsense...EVER!!

Anyone noticed the coldness between Melissa and Jason when she first came out? I don't think they even say hi to each other properly. That suggests to me she suspected something otherwise she would've tried to kiss him or somehting?

I think the whole "after the final rose" show was a bunch of horrible acting. Except on Melissa's part, that is. What example does that set for your son? "hey son, it's okay to publicly humiliate someone you claimed you were in love with, go ahead treat women like crap!" Be a man, pick up the phone and TELL her the truth before the cameras roll!!
And Molly......ugh. She has got to be the worst actress on the planet. Maybe she should have practiced in the mirror a few times before going on television.
I give them 6 months at the most :)

What disappoints me the most is that he all but made out with another woman on the same couch he dumped his fiancé on only moments after the big break up. I mean, he could have at least PRETENDED he had some integrity. I think he likes to play the victim..."Oh, it's so hard hurting her like this... I never wanted it to be this way...poor me having to pick between two beautiful women...blah, blah, blah". But I guess the long and short of it all is he has to live with this on his conscious...if only he had one. But my questions is this...If he really loved them both, like he claimed he did, and was so conflicted, but had picked Molly first, do you think he would have turned around and dumped her for Melissa? I think maybe so. Because he just didn’t know what he wanted, and I think felt guilty letting Molly go like that.

I think that everyone who leaked out the ending of the show weeks ahead of time SUCK. No matter who you are or what you do for a living. You all SUCK!!!!!

I think that Jason made the right decision. Molly was the best for him. Melissa made everyone believe that she was this sweet innocent girl, and she wasn't. I wish Jason and Molly the best.
