Watching 'Dancing With The Stars' From The Sidelines

Tony Dovolani, Melissa Rycroft, Nancy O'Dell and Bruno Tonioli at 'Dancing With the Stars'
What an amazing night I had the other night at "Dancing With the Stars."

I have to admit I went in thinking I was going to be so sad being in the audience watching, instead of dancing as one of the cast members as originally planned. After all, Tony Dovolani, my former dance partner, and I had put in a lot of hard work and time before my knee injury. And as many of you know, I am a huge fan of the show!

But, boy, I have to say when the show started I was so beyond excited that Tony was able to continue on the show and get a new partner. And Melissa was beyond amazing!!!!!

When they first walked out on the stage, I was so nervous because I wanted them to do so well. Even though I was badly injured, enough to have upcoming surgery, I felt awful I had to pull out of the competition.

Tony has become a dear friend as we rehearsed for almost 4 weeks, 5-6 hours every day. He became like a member of my family coming over for dinner, playing golf with my husband, and showing my little girl how to dance.

I was so ecstatic when I found out he had a new partner in Melissa and she was incredible! Sorry to keep repeating myself, but I am still in awe that she was able to learn the routine in 2 days and perform it so very well! I think they will go very far in the competition and I will be pulling so hard for them!

When they did the routine so beautifully, I was drawn to my feet (and that was hard to do considering my knee) but I couldn't help it. I thank Melissa for having the courage to step in at the last minute. And by the way, when I teased her about wearing my dress on Access Hollywood, it was literally just that...a TEASE.

I could not be happier for her that she gets this moment after going through what she did on "The Bachelor" and I could not be more grateful to her for stepping in for me at the last minute for the show!

And believe it or not, right before they danced she and Tony both blew me kisses. Here they were under so much pressure and they sent me some love and love right back at them. Go Tony and Melissa...I'll be rooting soooooo hard for you!!!!

I agree, you are and always have been a class act, Nancy! I loved reading your recap. Melissa and Tony were amazing. Their waltz was my favorite dance of the night and got all my votes. I REALLY hope to see you dancing with Tony next season. Good luck on your surgery, and wishing you a speedy recovery.

Hey Nancy, I am so disappointed you are not on Dancing with the Stars. You were the only reason I was going to tune in. I watch Access Hollywood just for you and think you are the classiest, most beautiful woman I have ever seen. I wish you a speedy recovery and hope you will do Dancing again next year. In the meantime, I will tune in to Access Hollywood to follow your recovery. All my best! Dave

Hi Nancy, I am sorry you couldn’t be on DWTS. I hope you get to next year. Since you can’t be on it, I was wondering if you would like to come Jacksonville FL on April 4th, and participate in the “Walk to Defeat ALS”? I am walking in honor of my daughter’s father in law. I wish I knew your contact address to send you the info. Even if you can’t “walk” in it, because of your knee, you could still come and just and hang out ! Your being there would really brighten everyone’s day. I also want to tell you I’m a big fan of yours. You are the most beautiful person on television. You actually outshine the beautiful people you interview. I can tell you have just as much inner beauty as your outer beauty. I don’t usually gush over other women, but I can just tell you are a wonderful person inside and out. Keep up the good work, and give Ashby a kiss from all your fans like me.

Nancy & Access Hollywood Staff:

Here are the star dancers past dancing experience FYI. I am so sad as the pro dancers cannot keep their professional work ethic in season 8. They should have had been proud and delighted for Tony Dovolani as he has Melissa for his dancing partner in season 8. It is too bad, their healthy heart has been polluted with jealousy.

Season 2: Stacy Keibler
KEIBLER TOOK BALLET, JAZZ, AND TAP DANCING CLASSES WHEN SHE WAS A LITTLE GIRL. SHE BECAME A CHEERLEADER FOR THE BALTIMORE RAVENS FOOTBALL TEAM AT THE AGE OF 18TH. KEIBLER PERFORMED DANCE ROUTINES EVERY WEEK ON WCW'S FLAGSHIP SHOW MONDAY NITRO UNDER THE NAME SKYE. BY 2000, KEIBLER WAS APPEARING ON WCW AS A NITRO GIRL & CHEERING FOR THE BALTIMORE RAVENS. (From: Keibler's Wikipedia)

Season 5: Mel B.
"BEFORE ENTERING THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY, FOR A TIME SHE (MEL B) WORKED AS A DANCER IN THE HOLIDAY RESORT, BLACKPOOL, LANCASHIRE" (SOURCE MELANIE BROWN'S WIKIPEDIA).

Season 5: Jane Seymour - 11 years of dancing experience.
JANE SEYMOUR WAS PUT IN TO A DANCE CLASS WHEN SHE WAS 5 YEARS OLD. THEN SHE HAD TO QUIT BECAUSE SHE DAMAGED THE CARTILAGE IN BOTH KNEES SO SEVERELY BY AGE 16.
(From the website http://www.tvguide.com/news/seymour-dancing-stars-39900.aspx"."Dancing with the Stars Preview: The Jane Seymour Q&A")

Season 5: Jenny Garth
WHEN GARTH WAS 11, SHE AND HER FAMILY MOVED TO PHOENIX, ARIZONA. SHE TOOK DANCING LESSONS AND DID A LITTLE MODELING WHILE LIVING THERE..... (FROM GARTH'S WIKIPEDIA).
