'Real Housewive's' Overload!

housewives.jpgIt was a catfight waiting to happen as all three season of Bravo's "The Real Housewives" collided on the red carpet at Bravo's second annual A-List Awards, which taped on Sunday.

The ladies from "The Real Housewives of Orange County," "The Real Housewives of New York" and "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" were all on their best behavior and no fur went flying. However, the domestic divas did all mingle together at a private party over the weekend.

"Housewife overload" is what "Orange County" housewife Tamra Barney and Vicki Gunvalson called it.

Vicki said the conversations went a little something like this; "Where did you get those shoes? Where did you get those earrings? I like you better now than I did on TV."

Fellow "Orange County" housewife Gretchen said, "I love Atlanta. They are so fun."

The feeling however may not be mutual as the women from Atlanta told me the "Orange County" ladies were catty and attitude was flying from both the NY and O.C. ladies, "There were a lot of personality differences," NeNe Leakes explained. And, she added a little sass by throwing the gauntlet down, "Atlanta is number one. Make sure you tell them when they come over here!"

Meanwhile NY housewife Bethany Frankel said the meeting involved,  "Lots of lashes. Lots of hair."

As for the latest group of Housewives to join the franchise, "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" (which starts airing on Bravo May 7th) Frankel proclaimed, "I think it's going to be White-lanta. Its gonna be big nails, probably white Mercedes. They are going to kick some serious ass."

Ok did anyone see the 1/2 hour preview for New Jersey? Juicy!

Back to Vicki who confirmed to me that she had recently gotten death threats from a viewer, "We just don't want to take it lightly. There [are] a lot of crazy people out there. So we contacted the police and here we are. Everything is fine."

And Vicki revealed she has upped her security in light of the situation.

"Well we have got an alarm system at my work and at my home. I have mace. I have whatever I have to do," she said. "I just watch over my shoulder a little bit better now. You just don't want to be too unguarded. You gotta watch your back a little bit."

All the ladies from the three shows admitted that they get both hate and love letters and security is a concern. It's not something they will take lightly from now on.

It would be great if shows like this could mention some of the great inequalities that the world faces today. The Borgen Project has good info on the estimated cost of ending global poverty:

$30 billion: Annual shortfall to end world hunger.

$550 billion: U.S. Defense budget.
