A 'Big Bang' Inside Comic Con Day Two
First up was Denzel Washington for his post-Apocalyptic film "The Book Of Eli." I was shocked to learn that this was his very first Comic-Con. So I told him I could not believe he was a "Comic-Con virgin." He thought this was hysterical and from there on our interview was full of laughter. He told me that one of the main stars of "Twilight" was walking around in a disguise and he just met them. Unfortunately, Denzel just doesn't know his "Twilight" so I had to investigate further. Later I found out it was Kellan Lutz (Emmett Cullen) who was the disguised one. I caught a quick glimpse of him in a wig and hat that made him look like James Franco in "Pineapple Express." I wonder if he was able to fool any of the Twi-hards or not?
Next came an interview with Megan Fox for "Jonah Hex." I'd never interviewed her before and I'd like to tell you that she lived up to hype but she didn't. Distant. That's the best word I can use to describe her. On the flip side, moments after Megan I talked to Rachel McAdams about "Sherlock Holmes." She is a sweetheart and absolutely beautiful. Her reaction to the news that someone is putting together "The Notebook" the musical was priceless.
This year's Con god was certainly Robert Downey Jr. who had two films to promote, "Sherlock Holmes" and "Iron Man 2." He told me loves coming to Comic-Con and he seemed really proud of both films. I snapped a photo of Lisa standing next to him while he was doing other interviews and at the moment it clicked he looked over and laughed. It was a very funny moment but unfortunately after that Lisa had to ditch to go back to being a mommy.
After she left, I chatted with a very friendly Cameron Diaz who had the smartest shoes on for this event. Black, flat boots. It's a whole lot of walking here.
Then it was over to meet the cast of ABC's new show "Flash Forward." There had been rumors that "Lost's" Dominic Monaghan would be joining the cast. So, when I saw him walk in I was very excited. The rumors were true. This is one of the shows though that like "Lost" he can't say much about what's going on. So it was a pretty cryptic interview about who he is and when will he show up. He was also playing coy about whether or not Charlie will return to "Lost" but based on the fact that he surprised everyone by showing up to their panel, I think it's safe to assume he will be back. (More on this in my day three blog!). The show's main star Joseph Fiennes revealed a pretty big spoiler to me about the series but when I inquired about it with the shows creator, David Goyer he made it clear that he has a plan for squelching spoilers... he purposely sends out misinformation online and to his actors. So beware future "Flash Forward" fans. Don't believe everything you read.
After a quick break, it was time for my most anticipated and final interviews of the day with the cast of "The Big Bang Theory." I hadn't seen Jim Parsons since his Emmy nomination for his brilliant portrayal of nerd extraordinaire Sheldon Cooper. I gushed and gushed to him about this and he loved every minute of it. He's my favorite TV actor to interview and we have so much fun together. The other guys in the cast were all sporting Grizzly Adams style beards since season three starts with them still in the North Pole. Jim apparently can't grow one which has become a running joke. The makeup department will have to help him with some fake facial although I think it might be funny if Sheldon can't grow a beard either!
Yes, I too think it would be really really funny if it turned out Sheldon can't grow a beard.
I still think Johnny Galecki looks like Billy Mays...
