Five Shows To Skip This Fall

brothers.jpgI hate to do it, but yesterday we talked about the good shows. Today it's time to break down the "not so good." Yet again, I have enlisted the help of our TV gurus, the two people who watch as much television as I do... our producers Bryant Huddleston and Stephanie Murphy -- Well almost as much.

Let's face it. No one can top me at Access Hollywood on TV watching. I realize it's hard work making these shows so no offense to the networks... but here we go...

FOX's "Brothers" - A sitcom about a retired football player coping with life modeled after the NFL-starring real life retired NFL player Michael Strahan.

DISH: FOX has never had luck with a traditional sitcom. How it is they have kept "Til Death" on the air for so long boggles the mind. It boils down to the fact that "Brothers" is just not funny. The best thing in it is Daryll Chill Mitchell. He deserves better than this though.

BRYANT: Painful to watch. Enough said.

STEPH: This is just not for me...same old sitcom style we've seen for decades. I am mean in the last couple years... I am not THAT old!

mercy.jpgNBC's "Mercy" - A hospital drama told from the view of the nurses.

DISH: If you want to watch a hospital show told from a nurse's perspective watch the far better "Nurse Jackie" with Edie Falco on Showtime. Michelle Trachtenberg is so deliciously evil on "Gossip Girl." When she said, "The bitch is back" last season, I didn't realize she meant it short-term. She's of far better use on Manhattan's Upper East Side.

BRYANT: Lord have MERCY on ME and NBC. Do we really need ANOTHER medical show? They just put "ER" out of its misery and now they want us to watch not one but TWO more hospital related shows? Lets just skip Mercy first then we can move on to "Trauma"!....STAT!

STEPH: Sorry, I am staying loyal to my "Grey's Anatomy."

cougartown.jpgABC's "Cougar Town" - Courteney Cox stars as a 40-something divorcee navigating the dating world again.

DISH: Courteney Cox looks as fantastic as ever but I'm just not sure this show can sustain itself every single week. How many times can we watch her go out on awkward dates with younger guys? Trust me I've done it. The outcome is always the same!

BRYANT: I love Courteney Cox. Her comic timing is brilliant. I still think she should have won the Emmy for the season that revealed her and Chandler's love affair on "Friends." But she won't be winning anything for "Cougar Town" other than some extra mommy time with her sweet little CoCo because it will be cancelled soon. "Scream 4"!!!

STEPH: Courteney looks fantastic but I want the cable version of this show. Maybe I just miss Kim Catrell's 'Samantha' on "Sex and the City" too much.

accidentally.jpgCBS' "Accidentally On Purpose" - Jenna Elfman stars in a sitcom about a 30-something woman who accidentally gets knocked up by a 20-something guy.

DISH: I think Jenna Elfman is adorable and I'm glad to see her back on a comedy after "Dharma and Greg." However, the show is sandwiched right between "How I Met Your Mother" and "Two And A Half Men," but it lacks the charm and creativeness of those shows as well as "Big Bang Theory" (which got moved to 9:30 -- I'm sure to help give this show a boost). It has the potential to get better and they did keep "Rules Of Engagement" on forever so it could find a small audience.

BRYANT: I hope CBS 'accidentally' forgets to put this on the air. Grant Show needs to head back to his original address at "Melrose Place"! I hear there's an apartment available!

STEPH: Love Jenna Elfman... but I accidentally stopped watching the pilot on purpose.

threerivers.jpgCBS's "Three Rivers" - A drama set in a hospital that specializes in organ transplants.

DISH: I write this under duress. I don't agree with the critics who panned this show and Bryant and Stephanie. Alex O'Laughlin is gorgeous and the show is set in my hometown of Pittsburgh. What's better than that? OK, so maybe it's a bit gloom and doom and it's yet another hospital show, but I'm still gonna secretly root for its success despite being forced to say 'Skip It.' (pls refer all hate mail to the critics!)

BRYANT: The Dish bragged and bragged about this show. She clearly needs some sleep. I didn't care about any of the characters on this gloom and doom organ transplant drama!

STEPH: I have been a fan of Alex O'Laughlin since his days as hot cop Kevin Hiatt on "The Shield," who can forget that sex scene? The scrubs need to come off quick in order to get through another medical drama.

I think that these shows sound much better then the ones on your to watch list. The worst medical show is better then the best reality show.

I sadly have to agree about Mercy and Three Rivers . Too many Medical Dramas this season, but if I need to watch one I guess it would be Trauma.
About Three Rivers , I really love Alex . And it hurt to read the TV reviews , but honestly it hurt even more when I watched the promo.
At home we all loved Moonlight . How could CBS cancel it , when everything with the word Vamp in it is a huge sucess this year . Haven't they seen the Twilight star trying to survive his "fans love"?
CBS had the sexiest Vamp in their network and they turned him into a boring doctor in scrubs . What were they thinking?
Honestly I don't thing tight scrubs or even no scrubs at all could save this show .
