Stars Cool Off Inside The Daytime Emmy Gift Lounge
Temperatures outside of the Orpheum Theater, where the Daytime Emmys took place over the weekend, reached 106 degrees!!!! But inside the stars stayed cool at the Daytime Emmy Gift Lounge with some very hot products. On 3 Productions invited presenters and nominees to shop the gift lounge during rehearsals for the show.
I stopped by just in time to chat with the show's host Vanessa Williams and "Dancing With the Stars" alum Gilles Marini after they rehearsed their big dance number together. Gilles was heading straight to the Starbucks ice cream counter to scoop himself some Java Chip despite telling me he had to lose six pounds fast for an upcoming love scene he'll be shooting with Rachel Griffiths on ABC's "Brothers and Sisters"! Gilles will be playing Sarah Walker's love interest, as well as having a guest spot on the new season of "Nip/Tuck" as a villain (which he told me is unlike anything he has ever played.)
A double dose of Gilles, yum! Despite all the skin he's shown on TV and in movies (uh remember the "Sex And The City" movie!) Gilles is actually quite humble. Before he and I sat down for our interview he swapped his white t-shirt for a red ChewyLou Designs t-shirt that said 'Peace' on it. He made my cameraman turn the camera off and turn around while he changed!
Despite having just come from the rehearsal, Vanessa looked flawless with minimal makeup and her hair pulled back. She was happy to chat about her hosting gig and the fact that her daughter Jillian would be performing with her as well. They both sing and dance and apparently have the same taste in clothes. Both Vanessa and Jillian pre-ordered "boyfriend" jeans from Anoname, which won't even be available in stores until January. After hosting the show Vanessa will head right back to NYC to continue filming "Ugly Betty," which is moving from Thursday nights to Friday nights at 9 PM on ABC. Vanessa is not worried about the time and day switch. She told me their fans will find it and those who miss it will always DVR and download it.
"90210" star Jennie Garth stopped into the lounge on show day and picked up an e-reader from Books On Board. Already pre-loaded on the device was 'Twilight' starring her hubby, Peter Facinelli. She snagged a pair of Cult of Individuality jeans for her man who is traveling right now.
The grande dame of daytime TV stopped into the lounge where she revealed to the folks at Nature Made Sam E Complete that eating the right kinds of food keeps her happy but that doesn't stop her from having pasta or a hot fudge sundae every once in awhile. It's already been announced that "All My Children" is moving their production from NY to LA but it still hasn't been revealed if Susan's legendary Erika Kane character will be taking that leap. Susan told our producer out on the red carpet she is still undecided saying, "I'm in the middle of having a lot of conversations, and I'm really hoping that we can work it out."
"All My Children" without Erika Kane? I couldn't even imagine!
