Eva Longoria looked very flapper-esque in her short fringy gown, smoky eyes and slicked back bob. I'm not sure about the big bow across the chest because it was a lot going on with all that beading AND fringe... but love that she took a risk. Eva was the person AccessHollywood.com voted most likely to make a fashion splash and she did not disappoint.
Heidi Klum came in second in our poll… and she looked absolutely stunning in metallic gunmetal Armani Prive. But then again, she's a supermodel, so she kind of has the advantage of being beautiful, having an amazing body and knowing how to work a red carpet like a runway... so, how could she NOT look amazing? -- Even if she was wearing a trash bag.
I was excited to see Christina Applegate because I think her story is so inspiring and this was her first big red carpet after undergoing a double mastectomy in July. She looked lovely in her one-shouldered bluish-gray gown with gold metallic floral accents... and elegant dark red lips.
America Ferrera also went with bold red lipstick, the perfect compliment to her Veronica Lake waves and chic black strapless gown. Others in not so basic black... Hayden Panettiere, Kristin Chenoweth in Armani, and Lauren Conrad in her own design. Debra Messing, in a black Monique Lhuillier ball gown, joked with us that she is a blackberry!
As I predicted last week - Tina Fey, ditching her trademark glasses, was as far from Sara Palin's Soccer Mom Style as could be. No poofy updo for her. Her hair was down, and she wore a sleek, form fitting David Meister gown.
The front row at the show wasn't your typical front row at all. Stars like Kelly Osbourne sat next to the runway at tables filled with cupcakes. As we waited for the show to start, music by The Muppets played loudly. Then the show... themed "Betsey Betsey Land" started.
And once the show did start, you could picture Renee wearing pretty much every single outfit, and I predict that we WILL see the actress in these beautiful designs. Ms. Herrera's signature lady-like looks were once again evident. The collection was a mix of bright colors like teal, fuchsia, golden yellow and classic black and white. All were gorgeous and red carpet worthy.
Ms. Herrera has been dressing Renee for nine years, an eternity as far as Hollywood partnerships go. The designer told us she is happy to dress Renee for her most special moments. And who wouldn't want their very own fairy fashion godmother like Carolina Herrera dressing us to perfection... that alone is a special moment.
The makeup, by Nars, was very natural and understated... all the better to let the clothes shine.
And then it was time to get the models dressed and ready for the runway.
On fashion week kick off day, Sophia
Bush, Cheryl Hines, Christina Milian and Joss Stone headed backstage to meet
and pose with the man behind the BCBG magic - Max Azria - before heading to
their front row seats. Just like the BCBG Spring 2008 Collection, the fall '08
collection is big on belts. Every outfit was accented with long, leather belts,
which were tied at the waist-a nice masculine touch -- to an otherwise,
feminine collection (Love the pleated jersey).
Later that day at Cipriani - Giselle
Bundchen set off a mass paparazzi pandemonium with the photogs going crazy for
her as she took her front seat at the Rag and Bone show. We asked her where she
was going to watch her beau, Tom Brady play at the Super Bowl - and she just
laughed and said, 'I don't know!' Giselle sat next to Julianne Moore - Ellen
Pompeo and her husband were also on the front row -- as was "Ugly
Betty's" Becki Newton and Vogue's Anna Wintour.... sans her signature
sunglasses. I met Scott Schuman, the guy behind the cult fashion Web site
"The Satorialist," he's so nice and down to earth! Not much street
style action for him- as it was pouring rain!
As for the Rag and Bone collection -- very masculine, lots of military
detailing, very dark palette of black and charcoal.
Before the Herve Leger show, Mandy
Moore, Joy Bryant and Sophia Bush all waited and relaxed backstage in the
Mercedes-Benz Star Lounge. Other stars at the show -- Rose McGowen, Joss Stone,
Christina Milian, Ginnifer Goodwin. The runway featured lots of interpretations
of the famous "bandage" dress, which was embellished with appliqués,
beaded details and feathers.
Feathers
were also all over Carolina Herrera's runway. You felt like you were invited to
a very swanky fox and hounds hunt in the British countryside with this classic
collection, which featured tweed, bird prints, riding pants and a lot of fur.
My favorite thing - the amazing fedora hats - all with feathers. Some with
over-the-top pheasant plumes, which were 3 feet long! A lady like collection with true autumnal colors -- browns,
mustard yellow and rust.
I was standing outside next to Lisa Kudrow, Debra Messing and her husband and Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin, who were all waiting to get in. Lisa Kudrow politely posed with fans for photos and Lisa Rinna laughed about the situation and said - "It's Jimmy Choo, who doesn't want to get in!"
Once we did go inside... it was jam-packed. Wall-to-wall beautiful people including a Malandrino clad Angie Harmon who hosted the evening. Also there - Lauren Conrad, Audrina Partridge, Gabrielle Union and Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon, who gave birth to twins in October.
Jimmy Choo founder Tamara Mellon - gorgeous in Dior - jetted in in from London, of course. Even Miramax honcho Harvey Weinstein was there... with his new bride, Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman.
There was lots of Veuve champagne to go around and, of course, shoes and bags to ogle. Sexy snakeskin... brightly colored patent heels. Yum, I'll take one of each delicious pair!
Of course, wearing such high heels does come at a painful price. At the end of the night I looked over at Debra Messing, who was one of the last celebrities at the party, and saw that even she had slipped off her Choos to give her feet a rest.
No frumpy maternity frocks for her- Jennifer Lopez delivered another killer fashion moment at the “Movie Rocks” event in Hollywood last night. It's the first time we've seen her out since she officially announced last month - what everyone already knew - she's pregnant.
The mama-to-be has gotten a lot bigger and is more beautiful than ever. She didn't need a spray tan - she had that natural glow working. She wore her hair in long, loose curls, which complimented her white flowy one shouldered goddess gown. She didn't perform, but did present a couple of times and the second time, for the show finale, she messed up a little when she couldn't read the teleprompter. She laughed about it and started over.
She and Marc had primo seats where they could check out all the action and they whispered in each other's ears during the entire event.
They're back! For the first time in ten years the Spice Girls hit the stage last night at the Victoria's Secret show in Hollywood, which will air December 4th on CBS. The girls came out and the crowd went wild. They performed two songs...actually they lip synched... but they still put on an entertaining show... and they looked FABULOUS!!!! With Hayden Panetierre, Eva Longoria and Ryan Seacrest among the stars watching from the front row, the girls did a boogie-woogie-bugle-boy style performance of their hit "Stop."
Lots of cute boy dancers in uniform worked the stage with the retro chic ladies in a tightly choreographed number. It's a little weird to see Posh, who never smiles and looks so serious all the time, up there dancing and waving her arms. I was surprised she could move, let alone dance in her skintight pencil skirt. At the end of the performance all the girls came together and hugged and seemed happy to be back together and also a little relieved. They also performed their new single "Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)", which wasn't as entertaining. The women looked great again, this time in long gowns, but they just stood there, barely moved and didn't engage the audience as much. Still, for anyone who is a fan of the Spice Girls...it was pretty exciting to see them all back together again... and people around me in the audience, especially a couple of girls sitting on my row...were going nuts.
