The news broke this morning that Deanna Pappas and Jesse Csincsak had ended their engagement via a statement from Deanna to In Touch magazine. Now, it looks like Deanna was the one who pulled the plug. In a video posted on what was the couples official Web site, www.deannaandjesse.com, Jesse sent a message to his fans.
Appearing forlorn and completely heartbroken Csincsak explained, "All of you guys have been amazing, followed us and supported us in everything we have done and uh, I kind of feel like its our responsibility to tell you that we are not together anymore. Deanna broke up with me two days ago."
Jesse says he tried to make it work with Deanna but ultimately she let him go.
"I did everything in my power to try and make this work but she is a great person but she wasn't willing to try anymore. She wanted something different I guess and the answer that I got was I love you but I'm not in love with you. That's a lot to swallow no matter who you are. When you are in love and you put yourself out there its a lot a lot to take in."
Well, it was only a matter of time before reality set in and Deanna Pappas and Jesse Csincsak would realize they had nothing in common. It happened a little bit faster than I expected though.
I would have bet they made it a few more months but this morning Deanna told In Touch magazine that she had called off her engagement to the 26-year-old snowboarder telling the magazine, "I really felt like I was going to spend the rest of my life with him. I thought he was my fairy-tale ending. But after the show was over and we settled in to our normal lives, I slowly came to realize that we are two totally different people and it wasn't going to work out."
So, this brings the shows track record for "The Bachelorette" to 1 and 4. Still much better than "The Bachelors" record of 1 and 12, but then again, there have been a lot more of that show.
Judging from the amount of ladies writing in comments on my last blog about "The Bachelorette's" Jeremy Anderson, I figured he's got to be one of the most popular male rejects of all time. I say reject with all due respect as I've gotten to know Jeremy recently and he's anything but a reject. He's a total sweetheart -beyond just being easy on the eyes.
Women who have never even met him have created a petition to make him the next "Bachelor" and they're going above and beyond finding out ways to contact him. Some have gone so far as to take out ads on Craigslist to find him!
I wanted to update everyone on how Jeremy has been holding up since the finale. I was horrified watching him go back on that final show to try and change DeAnna's mind. The show made it seem like he had hung out for several days lying in wait for her. It made him look, I thought, like a bit of a stalker. However, in the back of my mind I was pretty sure that all unfolded on the night he was eliminated, despite how ABC made it seem – especially, since I was pretty sure he was wearing the exact same clothes as the week before!
This morning Jeremy and I had a long talk about all things "The Bachelorette." We talked for so long I actually took a shower with him! Well, he showered at his home in Dallas while I was on the phone 1,800 miles away in Los Angeles. A girl can dream though, right? Thank goodness he told me this after the fact, otherwise my mind may have wandered off to uh, other things, while I was trying to ask insightful questions. Kudos to him for his fantastic multi-tasking! Here's some of what Jeremy and I spoke about this morning.
OK, so, did you actually wait around in the Bahamas for DeAnna to come back?
"It was an hour and half after the rose ceremony. It wasn't days later. I went back under the premise, I got this pretty concrete feeling that DeAnna was second guessing her decision and wanted to talk to me about it, and that there was a possibility that there might be a change of heart if I went back and talked to her about it."
I hate to say, "I told you so"... but I will anyway, "I told you so!" My clues to why I thought DeAnna would choose Jesse over Jason on "The Bachelorette" were spot on and last night her choice was revealed and it was Jesse Csincsak (pronounced SIN-SACK). The 26-year-old snowboarder got down on bended knee and proposed to "D" with a 2.32 carat $60,000 Tacori ring.
So, how did a longhaired, free spirit (who describes things as "rad" and "ridiculous" and thought telling someone "I'm so into you" was pouring his heart out) get the girl? -- By just being himself.
On a conference call with reporters this morning the happy couple talked all about their unconventional TV courtship. Anyone who reads my blogs knows I like to knock "The Bachelor" for its lame track record, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I think DeAnna and Jesse may go the distance here. At least, I think they will make it to the altar anyway. They have already set a wedding date of May 9, 2009. The significance being that May 9 is the date they got engaged. DeAnna told me she definitely plans to take Jesse's last name which she joked she is just learning to spell. Here's more from their conversation this morning with reporters.
What do you love about Jesse?
DeAnna: “I love that I have, for the first time in my life, I have a man that I can depend on.”
What do you love about DeAnna?
Jesse: “My thing with her is that she always puts a smile on my face. No matter what we do or where we are, I'm always happy with her. She makes my palms sweat everyday.”
How hard was it watching DeAnna's romance with Jason last night?
Jesse: “When I was going through this process I kept telling myself that I was the only guy and I had to just mentally tell myself there were no other guys there. Watching it was definitely tough but I have told her this - I'm only worried about it from the day that that ring went on her finger forward -- and everything that happened before that is in the past.”
Despite the fact that during the entire season of "The Bachelorette" 29-year-old Graham Bunn was portrayed as aloof, cold and commitment phobic, he says he came on the show because he was looking to find a potential wife,
"It was totally my goal."
In a conference call with reporters this morning Graham admitted with Deanna it really was just a case of he just wasn't that into her. Graham had difficulties opening up to her about his feelings, something the other guys were perfectly willing to do.
"I opened up as much as I could in an honest genuine manner. I was never going to tell her something that she just wanted to hear. She was dating people that were willing to say to her what she needed to hear."
Graham stressed that he felt pressure to talk marriage with Deanna in the time frame the show provided, a time frame he wasn't comfortable with to get to know someone. However, when I posed the question to Graham about whether or not if there were no cameras, no time frame, no television show could he fall in love with Deanna his answer said it all,
"No, I don’t think I could have fallen in love with her. I don’t think we were right for each other."
It's now down to the final four on "The Bachelorette." Deanna Pappas has four potential husbands left in the running - Graham, Jeremy, Jason and Jesse. Anyone watching the show can see the obvious romantic chemistry she has with the first three guys, but snow boarder Jesse has yet to even kiss her. So, it was a total shock this morning when on a conference call with reporters one of this week’s eliminated Bachelor’s, Twilley, told me he thinks Jesse might be Deanna's final pick,
"They have a really unusual connection. It’s just going to be unexpected. It’s going to happen during the fantasy date I think. Of the four left, I think they are the best fit. There is a lot of stuff that you didn’t see behind the edit. They just were kind of inseparable. I just see a lot of sparks between them that’s all."
Now, I’m not sure if Twilley has any inside scoop, but he mentions that Jesse ends up on the fantasy dates with Deanna, which means one of the other three is going home next week. This makes sense, though, based on next week’s promos, where it looks like Deanna sends someone home because she is afraid he will ultimately reject her like Brad Womack did. I personally think it will be Graham who has continually had issues with the fact that Deanna has connections with other guys. Plus, he has never had a long-term relationship. Twilley backed up this theory explaining,
"She told me that there was one guy who really blew her away and I really feel like that was Graham. Talking to Graham I think he was really intimidated by the whole marriage thing. I think she’s gonna really identify with Brad Womack and in the end she is going to realize how hard this really is."
Last night, the woman who was dumped by Brad Womack from "The Bachelor" season eleven got her chance at finding love.
Twenty-six-year-old Deanna Pappas embarked on her "Bachelorette" journey as the tables were turned and she was introduced to 25 eligible guys. This is only the fourth time the series has handed over the reigns to a woman. Personally, I don't know what the heck took them so long since probably 90 percent of the audience for this show is women.
I'd much rather watch 25 guys fight for the affection of one woman then a room full of 25 twenty-something girls bring out their claws for one guy. Deanna's lot of eligible men included among them a high school football coach, a barber shop owner, a science teacher and a martial arts master.
Of Greek decent herself, Deanna seems most attracted to the tall, dark and handsome type, handing out roses to several good looking brunette men including Robert, Jeremy, Eric and Ron. She seemed most taken by Jeremy, a 30-year-old real estate agent from Dallas, Texas, handing him a first impression rose practically after he stepped out of the limo.
The guys pulled out all the stops to woo Deanna. Luke, an oyster farmer from South Carolina gave her a pearl necklace only to be sent home. Brian from Indiana showed her his rock hard abs and was also sent packing. Richard, a chef from San Francisco, whipped her up a crab cocktail earning him a rose. Meanwhile, Paul, a 23-year-old sales manager from Canada, jumped into a pool with all his clothes on revealing underneath a swimsuit with Deanna's name embossed on his butt! This little stunt earned him a rose too.
