20080702-AmyP_036-371r.jpgDid 'Biggest Loser' contestant Brady purposely only lose three pounds this week to ensure that Blue Team member Amy Parham was sent home after the team failed to win the weigh in? That's the question posed to the 41-year-old real estate agent who was eliminated from the show this week.

In last night's elimination, trainer Bob Harper pondered whether or not the blue team was playing a game he didn't know about behind his back. That was confirmed when Amy pleaded her case to not be sent home to team members Heba as well as Brady's wife Vicky. When asked if they had formed an alliance Brady lied and said, "Absolutely not." A second later, Vicky looks directly into the camera and smirks, confirming that an alliance had, in fact, been made. Amy was indeed sent home.

This morning on a conference call with reporters it was brought up to Amy that the message boards are lighting up with accusations that Brady purposely drank a ton of water to make sure he had a low weight loss number this week. It was also pointed out that in promos for next week's episode one contestant will drop the most weight of anyone in the history of the show in one week. All signs point to that being Brady.

See what Amy has to say about it after the jump...

Thumbnail image for bl6green8288.jpgBeing voted off of 'The Biggest Loser" in the very first week of the show hasn't kept married couple Adam and Stacey Capers from working towards their goal. When Adam started on the ranch he was 340 pounds. During last night's final "where are they now segment" he was at 286 pounds. Today he weighs 275 pounds. Stacey was at 221 pounds when she first started. Last night they showed her at 175 pounds. Today she is at 168 pounds!

In a conference call this morning with reporters, Adam  told me he hopes to get to his goal weight of 220 for the finale. Stacey couldn't even pick a number because she said, "I have never been this small in my life. All I can do is continue to push through and see where I can get before I start looking real crazy."

Thumbnail image for THE BIGGEST LOSER - Cast Photo 9 23 '08 NBC.jpgMy favorite reality show starts again tonight, NBC's 'The Biggest Loser." I've seen the first episode. The tears flowed. Now in it's sixth season, the show continues to inspire people with its heart, warmth and the sheer determination of the contestants. Unlike most reality shows there is no backstabbing, no gimmicks, no "clueless" assistants, no cat fights and no faux agenda. I spent the day up at the "Biggest Loser" ranch getting to know the sixteen contestants. Here is a look at the teams and my thoughts on the couples who I think are the ones to watch.

bl6brown8258.jpgBrady and Vicky - a married couple from Houma, Louisiana. He's a pharmacist. She's an Anesthetist.
Age: 36 and 37
Starting weight: 341 and 246 pounds
How they got there: Vicky says, "Right now we are eating a lot of bad food, and it's like a vicious chain. We eat the cheese burger, it makes us feel like crap. So we don't want to go work out. We are tired all the time."
Motivation: Vicky says, "My daughter is four years old and she is sixty-three pounds and so she is following in our footsteps. We actually thought something was medically wrong. She was actually not sick it was just that she was sedentary and didn't eat healthy foods. So that's when we realized we did this too her. That was one of our primary motivations. We need to change ourselves and get ourselves healthy so we can pass [it to] our kids and stop this chain of obesity."
Why they could win: In college after working out for three hours a day they lost 92 pounds and 80 pounds respectively. So, they are capable of dropping the pounds.

bl6orange8275.jpgEd and Heba - a married couple from Raleigh, North Carolina. He's a chef who owns his own catering business. She's a sales rep.
Age: 31 and 30
Starting Weight: 335 and 294. Heba weighs in at the heaviest woman on the campus.
How they got there: Ed the chef says, "I cook a lot of southeastern America southern cuisine. Fried chicken. Macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes - just the classic comfort food kind of stuff. It's just constant temptation and addiction. Food is addictive like anything. It controls your mind and the things you do."
Motivation: Ed says he needs to stop "testing" his recipes. "This is a way for me to revamp my lifestyle so I can trust myself."
Heba says, "I'm just here to get my life back, to get myself back and to feel good about myself and you know eventually we can have kids in a few years and I want to have a healthy pregnancy."
Why they could win: At such large weights they have the capacity to drop large amounts fast.

bl6red8278.jpgPhillip and Amy - a married couple from Greenville, South Carolina. They are both real estate agents.
Age: 41 and 40
Starting Weight: 331 and 229
How they got there: Amy says, "I've gone up and down on my weight during my adult life and I was actually at 136 six years ago but during that time my son, our youngest son, was diagnosed with autism and so that was like a blow and then at the same time we had a business and a partner left and it just went south. We turned to food for comfort."
Motivation: Amy says, "I'm happy to say that our son's doing great and we're the number one real estate agents in our company. So we conquered those two battles and this is the last frontier."
Why they could win: Trainer Bob tells me team red are the fiercest competitors in the house. They told me they hired trainers and nutritionists for when they return home.

bl6green8288.jpgAdam and Stacey - married couple from Cleveland, Ohio. He is a contracts manager. She is a contract pricing analyst.
Age: 39 and 33
Starting Weight: 340 and 221
How they got there: Adam says, "Bad eating habits, work schedule, doing a lot of travel for work and just eating fast food - Getting older, my metabolism, I don't have the metabolism of a twenty year old anymore."
Stacey says, "I always have been over weight as a child, as an adolescent, as an adult. So it's actually become, I become complacent I think."
Motivation: Stacey says, "Absolutely want to change our lives. We have two young children at home. We have to be better role models for them. I obsess about my daughter's weight all the time and I think it's because I had such a hard time growing up, living with, being over weight."
Why they could win: Stacey says, "There are some strong competitors here but I think we are stronger."

I gave up my ticket for "American Idol" last night for a chance to attend "The Biggest Loser" finale.  If you are not watching this show then you need to be! It's by far the best reality show out there right now.  Considering how overweight our nation is this is a show to be proud of on our American airwaves.

These contestants lives have not only been changed drastically by this show but quite possibly their lives have been saved.  Most notably Curtis Bray who came to the "The Biggest Loser" ranch at a whopping 381pounds. He had lost his health insurance for himself and his family and would not qualify unless he weighed a maximum of 238 pounds.  After losing 150 pounds with the help of the show, his current weight right now is 231!

I've never been more excited to attend a TV taping.  I've only ever met the contestants once (before they started the show) but even barely knowing them last night I felt like a proud sister watching her siblings.  It was such an incredible feeling sitting in the audience.  It really truly was not about the money for these people.  What mattered was the number on the scale and what they were able to accomplish.  Unlike the backstabbing and conniving that goes on in shows like "The Bachelor", "Survivor" or "Big Brother", when a contestant is eliminated there are genuine tears and remorse from their competition because they have sent home a friend, confidant and motivator.

The second I walked into the taping, my boyfriend and I did a lap around the studio and wound up running right smack into Ali, Mark and Roger backstage.  I actually had a moment of star struckness.  Ok, make that reality star struckness.  Standing there in his jeans and black jacket, Roger was a hottie all of a sudden! Both he and Mark are barely recognizable as the men I met in October. Ali looked absolutely incredible in a tight fitting black dress.  If you saw this girl walking down the street you would never know she used to be 234 pounds. She looked like a world-class gymnast with these crazy muscular arms.  I knew right then she was going to win this thing.

AI7_MentorDolly_3[1].2340C89.jpgWell, if that title doesn't tell you what I did last night then I guess you don't watch much TV. After tuning out all TV last week while at Fitness Ridge, it was strange to go back and watch back to back reality shows. One week away and I already lost my prime ticket to the Idol taping and had to watch the show from home on television. The best part about it was being able to get up during the commercials!  I will be there tonight for Dolly Parton though.

I won't bore you with a recap of last night's "Idol" performances -- instead I'll just muse on a few things that stuck out to me.

# 1 - Why does Randy Jackson start every single critique with "Yo, so check it out?"

# 2 - # 2 - Who else thinks David Cook could be this year's winner?  His was the only performance that made me stop paying bills, look up and pay attention to the whole performance. It's such a strange season though. In the past I've been able to pick from the night of the Top 12 party who I think will win. Jordin Sparks, Taylor Hicks, Carrie Underwood were just givens to me. This season it's more difficult to decide. I hope David doesn't fall under the Daughtry curse and get ousted during the top 4 week. Having said that though,  how many albums has Daughtry sold compared to Taylor Hicks?!

# 3 - Ramiele Malubay is so tiny she makes Ryan Seacrest look like a giant and that's VERY hard to do.

I can't tell you how many times I have heard people talk about NBC's "The Biggest Loser.”  Saying things like: “if I could just find a place like the weight loss ranch.”  Or, “I want to find a place where I would be pushed for weeks and sometimes months at time, so I could finally lose the weight.”  This week I learned there actually is such a place, but it's not an easy fix.

You have to be willing to work hard and be open to learning new ways of viewing the food you eat. If you can do that, then let me tell you about a place called Fitness Ridge, which was featured on "The Biggest Loser" on March 18th as the reward for a tough treadmill challenge (won by Mark).

Last year, when I went to the set of "High School Musical 2", I fell in love with the beautiful town where it was being filmed: St. George, Utah.  Located about two hours north of Las Vegas, it's surrounded by colorful mountains of red, white and many shades in between.  It's become known as a spa destination for those looking to pamper themselves. It's also known for great golf, tennis and hiking.  I knew that I eventually wanted to come back.

Several months ago I stumbled upon Fitness Ridge, which labeled itself as a "compassionate boot camp."   Granted I didn't have a ton of weight to lose. I just wanted to get in better shape and lose a portion of those ten pounds the TV camera adds.   I checked out their information and when I realized it was right near St. George, I booked my trip.

For some reason I kept going back and forth to their website.  One day I stumbled upon a photo of that week's clients.  It concerned me because many of them looked much older and many were out of shape. I thought this was going to be a place where healthy people came to get a killer workout for a week.  I was concerned and somewhat disappointed.  However, I was committed to going and figured I'd just enjoy it for what it was.

The day I arrived, I found that my entire concept of what this place was turned out to be completely wrong.

What I found was a group of people - all shapes and sizes - committed to one common goal - change.  That change could be to lose 50 pounds, bounce back from illness, or lose the last bit of baby weight.  Maybe it was to learn how to eat healthy or just simply keep in shape what you already had.    Some people come for a week while others stay for extended periods - weeks and even months.  They keep the prices really reasonable.  A week starts at just $1295 and the more weeks you stay the price per week drops.
